Jack was humming merrily to himself, a large pack on his back, as he walked to the front gate. He had a spring in his step and a smile on his face. Most of the people who saw this were wise and kept well away from the odd, mad doctor Jackal. Because a Jackal in a good mood usually meant a dead body was soon to follow ...

"Reynold!" he cooed, seeing the mercenary right where he'd expected him. "So glad you're on time! Well, lets go, hop too it!" Jack led the way through the man made 'clearing' right outside the metal wall around the base proper. The doctor hopped from severed stump to severed stump of what had once been trees, having a glorious time. "So, Reynold, How many beasties do you see on average when you go out? One? Two? A dozen? Oh, and have you seen and animal-people lately?" Jack laughed, a loud, odd sound that startled quite a few of the 'birds'--odd, rainbow-winged lizards the size of small birds--into squawking and chirping flight. "Oops. Oh well, we still have all day to hunt! Onward!" Jack declared, scaring even more of the little critters away, and marched towards the forest line of trees that hadn't yet met a chainsaw.

{Very well}

Reynold waited where he was to meet the doctor. He cringed when the man called his name. He knew he was going to regret this little trip. That scientist didn't know when to shut the hell up. He sighed, following the doctor. "Could you shut your motormouth? If we are going to be traveling together, I don't want to hear a peep from you," he hissed, not answering any of the doc's question. Of course he's seen many different animals. Animal-people? Not that he recalled. But who knew what was lurking deeper in the forest.

Jack hurried alongside Reynold, glad when it seemed there would be no pursuit of any other half-humans. At least, not for now. Any way, they made it back within sight of the base without any further trouble. Not even something trying to eat them. Perhaps the animals had learned to be wary of the mankind now rooted in their forest, wielding guns and weapons built for the sole purpose of death? The scientist laughed loudly, drawing some attention of the men and women within ... who stared at the returning pair with wide eyes. Or, more specifically, at their prize. "Back off, vultures! This one's going to get all tidy and snug in his new home before you lot get to touch! Back! Back! HAHAHA!" Actually, no one had been moving in for a closer look, but Jack felt it best to make the point clear. "Okay Rey, the cages are this way~" The doctor led the mercenary to where the building where live animals were kept, close to the labs. It was a building made entirely of metal; only the floor being concrete. Inside, metal-bared cages linned the walls. Jack brought Reynold to the biggest one available.

Right now, the only other live animal was a striped deer in the opposite corner. Jack went into the cage next to the wolf-man's new home, and released the bat before quickly exiting and locking the cage. Jack watched curiously as the flying animal dove and glided from one end of her cage to the next, raging a few moments, before settling down in a corner, moodily hissing, stomach large. Oh yes, she was a fatty. And Jack knew it wasn't from eating. With an excited little giggle, the doctor then looked at Reynold with one of his grins. "Ready? Lets go get you fixed up then and leave these two to ... get comfortable."

Just outside of Neo America ... Carrel watched in the hidden darkness of the trees as the prince was dragged in, but didn't come out. The panther knew his options ... and decided to risk himself a little. He would wait for night. Then ... he would scout. Carrel would be careful, but he also knew the prince had to be helped. These metal wielders with strange legs and stranger ways ... who knew what they would do with the imprisoned prince? His mind could not even produce a guess.

Reynold ignored those around them and followed Jack to the cages. Droka's ears flattened to his head as he saw more of these strange legged creatures. He was such a fool. It wasn't long before the poor prince was thrown into a cage. Droka growled at the man who had been handling him, barking a bit. Reynold hit a bloodied arm against the cage bars. "Shut it, you.." Droka bared his teeth but cowered a bit. His eye glared at the two outsiders until they were out the door. Then the prince whimpered, pacing the floor on all fours. On top of all this, he was hungry. He shouldn't have skipped his meal this morning. After a few moments of whimpering and pacing. He settled into a corner of his cage, curling in a ball on the cold rock like floor. He looked at the Stripped Deer then at the Flapper before resting his head on his arms. Today just wasn't his day. He wished he at least had the company of his little wyvern. Speaking of Spark, he hadn't returned home. He had flew a distance away until he heard more of those strange loud bang sounds and what sounded like his friend beings dragged away. He had found those two weird creatures and they took Droka, silently following. He stayed at the edge, where they were no long any trees. Spark didn't like being separated from Droka like this. he had to find a way to be with the other once more.

The deer houghed at the two newcomers, lowering its head to show its antlers threateningly, but seemed to loose its gusto after a while of hoof-stamping and growling.

The female flapper, however, remained agitated. She would settle at a corner of her cage for a few moments, then flap to another, or walk weirdly on all fours, her wing thumbs making surprisingly good front 'feet' for moving on the ground. Her tail lashed in agitation, and she clearly was searching for something the cage did not have. Like a proper dark den to hide herself in while in such a vulnerable state. She hissed and spat her displeasure, ears flat, but eventually found a good spot at near the top of the bars to latch onto with her back feet. Hanging, she folded her wings around her body, and seemed to find comfort in that.

Carrel found a spot to settle in near the human 'village,' nesting in the trees and carefully sharpening the small dagger owned. He may not have chosen the life of a warrior, but living with a family of them had taught him much.

The night flier stirred, then hissed, poking her head out from her wings and watching the red headed human enter. Jack was whistling a small tune to himself (99 bottles of beer on the wall) and stopped in front of the bat-cat's cage, looking at her a few moments, his green eyes slowly sliding over to the canine human as he smiled. "Well, how are your accommodations, my prince?" Jack said cheerfully, not knowing how true those words really were. The scientist carefully opened the door to the flapper's cage, stepping in and closing the barred entrance behind him. Since the cages were only separated by bars, he could easily speak to the canine while 'testing' the female. "Sorry we don't have any wine, but hey. We're still getting used to things. Plus, the rich folks hog all the wine. Quite a shame too." Jack sat down, flapper still hissing at him, and carefully unpacked what he'd brought from his office. Fruit. Berries. Leaves. Even some dried meat. He put a bit of everything down, then retreated to outside the cage, watching.

The pregnant female did not move fore a long time, and Jack was silent. But, eventually, the need to feed herself and her growing young overcame suspicion. She flapped to the food, snatched up most of it--not the leaves--before scurrying clumsily off to a corner far away from Jack and his watching eyes, feeding.

Jack made a thoughtful noise, then took some notes. One of those types of berries was toxic. Well, he'd see whether the bat was unaffected, or had simply been stupid. Only time would tell. He walked over to sit in front of the prince's cage, smiling at the animal man. "Jaaack. J-ack." He began playing his name game again, gesturing towards himself.

Droka was still in his little corner, his ears slightly twitching to the noise of the other two animals. He didn't like it here and he knew they didn't either. His ears perked up when someone entered, listening. He looked up to see that odd redheaded creature. He growled a bit then warily watched him. He didn't understand a word the man said. He sat up a bit as the man laid out that food in the cage of the Flapper. His stomach grumbled at the thought of food. He sighed before rubbing his arm. The little wound had healed up a bit. He was just glad it wasn't on the arm of his tattoos. The top was of his royalty. The second was of his skill as a hunter. The third represented his great ability to tame almost any animal. And the last told of his amazing archery skills.

He watched the Flapper as she just hung there until she got the food. He sniffed the air. Some of those berries weren't very safe. And that Flapper was expecting, wasn't she. Was he trying to kill her and her babies. Droka shook his head, not wanting to think about it. It was then that the strange man came to his cage. Droka glared at him, sitting there like the wolf he was. The thing was trying to communicate with him again. Well... Might as well give it a shot. "J.... Jjjaa... Jaa... Jaaacckk... Jaacckk.." This language was so weird to him.

Jack clapped his hands with glee. "Good, good! Very good! You're definitely a sentient species of sorts! Well, that was obvious by the clothes and arrows, but talking is always a nice way to prove a point. Now ... What's your name, doggie?" The scientist gestured to himself, repeated his name, then gestured to the canine, questioningly. This really was an interesting specimen. He could see the hint of scars on the right side of the hybrid's face, and was quite sure the damage must've costed an eye, because otherwise the creature probably wouldn't have his hair grown in a way to cover it.

The to-be mother settled into her corner and began grooming herself, eyes on the red head. She did not seem to suffer any adverse effects. Jack, even with his attention mostly on the prince, made note of this after glancing at her from the corner of his eyes. The bat-cat creatures must've developed an immunity to that type of toxin somewhere along the evolutionary way. Fascinating. He couldn't wait to take a closer look. He'd get a sedative into the bat one way or another a little later, after seeing if the canine wanted to share his name or not.

Droka's ears twitched when the other clapped. He seemed happy that Droka could say his name in that language. The wolf played with his earring a bit as he continued to talk. He scratched behind his ear with his foot, must like a wolf, when the man tried asking his name. Droka didn't understand all that well. But the signing helped. The gears ground in his head as he tried to figure it out. "Prince... Droka," he said, though it would most likely sound very foreign to the aliens ears. He pursed his lips, wondering if the man understood or not.

Jack tilted his head, humming to himself. "Shha--?" he tried the first word a few times and butchered the syllables horribly--almost as well as he butchered meat--then grinned sheepishly. Then tried the second. "Drrrr ... Drrrrrruuu ... uuukk ... kooooo?" Jack sighed at himself. "Quite bad, quite bad ... How did you manage those vowels that way? Quite impossible for me ... Oh well. I'll just call you Dru, because that's the clearest bit of what you just said!" The scientist decided happily. "Well Dru, welcome to Neo-America!" Jack spread out his arms in a grand gesture, nearly falling backward since sitting and moving your arms that much wasn't good for balance. "I'd give you better accommodations but ... You're more of an animal than person to us, you understand, yes? Can't have you roaming around doing whatever you want. The government would go into an uproar. Though ... that would be kind of fun to see ..." Jack pondered a few moments, then shrugged to himself.

"Maybe after I've gotten to see just what you're capable of. Now ... which one, eh?" The scientist grinned, holding out two fruits to the captured prince. The bars were thick enough for hands to go through, but not the round fruits. One was deemed perfectly edible ... while the other gave humans a very back stomach uproar for a little bit. Jack wanted to see--like with the bat--if 'Dru' knew how to sort things out for himself ... or if he had a body that could stomach things humans could not.

Jack would open a small slide in the cage to toss the chosen fruit in once Droka decided, if the wolf did decide. Who knew ... Jack was also wondering if the wolf-ish creature might be a carnivore.

Droka's ears usually perky ears drooped down as his title was completely mispronounced as well as his actual name. He growled a bit, being called something else. His head tilted to the sided when the man continued on then spread his arms out, almost falling over. Such a strange creature. It was then that two fruits were presented to the prince. He sniffed near each. he was more inclined to the perfectly edible fruit, his tongue slightly poking through his lips. This was a habit of his when he saw something he wanted to eat. He did it when he was little and never grew out of it. His mother thought it was adorable and still does.

Droka would have preferred meat but fruits were a part of his diet as well. And he was really hungry right now. Even if it was from this strange creature, he wanted something to eat. He couldn't smell anything wrong with the fruit he was staring at it. It should be okay.

Jack grinned with a giddy laugh, seeing the look on Dru's face. "Aw, you're just like a puppy~ Here puppy!" Jack stood and opened the small slot in the cage door, opening it and tossing the good fruit inside before re-bagging the other one. "You're so adorable Dru. Maybe, if we catch another human-beasty, I can keep you as a pet. I don't cut everything open, you know. Though, you probably don't understand a word I'm saying, do you? We'll have to work on that. Maybe I can teach you my language! I daresay yours is too barky and growly for me. And, if you learn my language, maybe I could teach you some tricks too!" Jack really was a chatty kind of person. And it was a lot of fun talking to a person--sort of--who didn't look at him with wide fearful eyes or--in Reynold's case--tel him to be quiet and not give them a headache.

Jack pulled out more food; several dried strips of meat. The red head slid those in through the bars, since they were thin enough to go through. "Though ... perhaps a test of temperament would be good before I get my hopes set on the cute doggy, hm?" Jack did something no sane human would do; he stuck his hands through the bars. Not reaching for Droka; just within reach of the wold-man. It was the hand the Flapper had scratched up, so it was covered in red lines and scabbed wounds at the moment. Not a nice sight. "So, are you a friendly Dru, hm?"

Droka's head tilted to the side once again as the creature laughed, tongue still sticking out the way it did. Laughter was the same in all languages.. He stood when the man stood, getting the fruit before it hit the floor. He didn't like being fed this way but food was food. The strange thing began talking again. Droka watched his mouth as he spoke, trying to make sense of what he was saying. Didn't help at all. Then the other pulled ore food out. Ooh, meat. He nibbled on the fruit as he grabbed the dried meat. He sat back down on the floor, looking at the man as he ate.

He stared at the other's hand as he ate. What was he doing now? Droka wasn't sure. But, maybe if he acted peacefully, nothing to harsh would happen. Maybe he could even get these strangers to leave the forest alone. Droka didn't always like fighting. It was best trying to go for a peaceful way out before things got violent. Well, except the skirmish in the forest. After he was done with his fruit, Droka sniffed at that hand, the seed in hand. It smelled odd. Like blood. But not just his blood. Other creatures too. Interesting. What did this thing do? After sniffing at that hand, Droka stood again. He took Jack's hand in his own, looking at the scratches. It was then that he put the fruit core into the man's hand. Droka laughed a bit, thinking this a little comical, before going back to his corner and gnawing on the meat.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:41 pm

Jack watched with fascination as Droka inspected his hand, wondering what te other might be thinking in that cute head of his. This creature really was the most interesting one Jack had ever seen. Though, what really got Jack was the laughter. It made the red head laugh back ... a bit too enthusiastically. "Oops, there I go again. Well, seeing as you're eating, I think I'll go take my leave to have some dinner myself. I'll come back with a special snack of you, I promise. And maybe one for you too, Mrs Fatty," Jack added to the night flier who was cocooned again high in her cage, ignoring them both. "None for you Mr Deer. Last time I tried to be nice to you, you tried to stab me. Not that I'm surprised." The striped deer only snorted threateningly at Jack, lowering it's head in silent warning.

Jack laughed again, picking up his bag and leaving them all to their cages, heading for the Labs. Jack hoped Rey had gotten that call over and done with. Then, he'd have full clearance to use Lab supplies on Dru. Jack giggled to himself, what fun! Though ... no dissecting yet. The redhead really was partial to the 'cute' wolf. He wanted to see everything the animal man could do before destroying anything. He did make sure to head to the mess hall to eat as it got dark though. He didn't want to miss out on anything that tasked yummy, after all. Like the pig-thing he'd dissected that morning. Mmm, sausages~

As twilight came, Carrel saw his chance to move. He was slow, and careful. The panther kept to shadows, and silently ghosted his way towards the metal wall, before digging a small hole under it to get in. Then, he began scouting. Being unnoticed was the name of the game: Carrel was gathering information as much as he could. He was just glad these ... things seemed to not be nocturnal. And that there were plenty of alleys and shadows to hide in. Now ... to somehow find the prince in all this odd mess ...

Droka stuck his tongue out again when the other laughed back at him. Droka chewed on the meat as he watched the creature named Jack. Interesting creature, he was. Droka felt a little accomplished. Nothing to horrible has happened to him besides the tiny wound from that strange weapon. He sighed as he looked at the fur cloth that was wrapped around said wound. It smelled like his mother. He finished his little meal then sniffed at the fur, thinking of his mother. It gave him a little comfort though. Don't worry, Mother. I'll make things right. I'll help our forest..

Droka curled up in his little corner. He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep though. He always liked being able to see the night sky before drifting to sleep. He had napped earlier but that's because he was tired. He wasn't as tired now and he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep. His room at home had a large window so he could see the sky no matter what. There were no windows here. Droka sighed again before letting out a quiet howl, curling into a ball.
