Seeing how mage has always been my favourite play style I thought it might be fun to gather together fellow mages to discuss why mages are ultimately superior (mage elitism lol)
topics for discussion:

Alteration
Conjuration
Destruction
Illusion
Restoration
Enchanting

Character builds
What perks you would like to see
Magic system revamp

and basically any other topics that you can think of to glorify the all powerful mage

I, of course, am a Mage. Why carry around a heavy sword when you can just summon one? A sword on fire is more effective then a sword without fire. Logic.

I'm more into Conjuration. It's always the first skill I master. My second is maybe Alteration (it was 1st in Morrowind because of Levitation alone). If not, second can probably be Destruction too. Ice is a beautiful and powerful element to have.

Alteration and Restoration, though I love illusion for being able to knock people over. LOL!

Alteration? Simple, I can use a nice feather skill to go find marauders and bandits and loot more of they're hard earned gear and hawk it for some good money.

Usually i start off working on conjuration so i can summon up some distractions this should be helpful fighting dragons i think I'm hoping one of the perks will be for multiple summons nothing says FU like summoning a hoard of golden saints lol then going to have to work on destruction+heavy armour as long as it doesn't make my magic any less effective if you can train your companions in magic it will all go towards restoration so i won't have needs to heal myself

You are able to summon more the one creature. However, the extent of this perk I do not know. Lol.
Good idea on the Restoration bit.

I tried my hand at being a mage, but it was too much work for me.

it makes me wonder how is it to much work lol perhaps a little extra effort but it makes you so much more versatile do you play a warrior or thief perhaps

I am actually an assassin at heart but I LOVE to have a bit of illusion magic at hand to be able to get around. Back in Oblivion it was hilarious to paralyze an opponent and then poison them to the point where once they get up they're already dead. Another aspect that makes me more of an assassin is alchemy, I can't live without a poisoned weapon.

So yes, I take my vote back. I'm a magical thief.

I usually go full out warrior. The only magic I ever used was an illuminating spell because carrying a torch became a pain in the a**.

speaking of torch, if you can dual wield can you carry a torch and a sword?

anyway, im hoping for a bit more custom spells sooner on. the mages guild felt like it took far to long to get access to that and by that point i just didnt care about magic.

Talking about spells, I would LOVE something to confuse the enemy. Lead them into disarray and watch them fall off the most unforgiving places.
As an illusionist, my goal is to instill fear in the enemy. Watching your fellow mage draw out a rusty iron dagger or a simple club is only the beggining of such madness. Unable to attack because they're too angry is simply too amusing.
But what if I were to confuse them? What if the mage decided to pick a fight with a frost atronach or equally horrible, an orc warrior?
Better yet, to make an object the cause of their terror. It would be a circus act to watch an illiterate Nord Powerlifter/Bodybuilder who hates reading run away from a dictionary. Then the final most innnocent question:
"Is it over?"
*STAB*
A sudden strike from the shadows with a poisoned blade sent from another dimension to destroy you. It was destiny, the Will of Sithis that you would be eliminated in such a ridiculous way.
May the Humor of Sithis be a dark one.

ANYWHO, Illusion 4 EVER!!!
