Dungeons & Dragons, also referred to as D&D or DnD, is a tabletop fantasy RPG designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson; and published first by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. in 1974 and then Wizards of the Coast from 1997 to now. The game revolves around one or more player characters, or PCs, who depart on grand adventures within a fantasy world. The game is maintained by someone known as the Dungeon Master, or DM. The DM acts as the referee and storyteller of the world, maintaining it's happenings and playing its inhabitants. The PCs go on adventures, seeking fame and riches, while the DM has the pleasure of running these adventures and throwing difficulties their way.

Normally, each player controls a single character, which represents a single individual in the fictional world controlled by the DM, tailoring each to their preferences. These personas form a party together, interacting with the setting and one another to solve dilemmas, engage in epic battles, and gather untold treasures and unfathomable knowledge. The players choose everything from their race, the class they specialize in, and the weapons they use; each character contributing in it's own way to the parties success. During play, they all direct the actions taken by their character and their interaction with the surrounding world and its inhabitants, as well as one another.

The game employs many things like verbal, or in this case written, impersonation of ones character, as well as logical thinking, basic math, ones imagination, and the rolling of die which dictate the success of many of the actions taken. A game often revolves around the completion of a single adventure or a longer series of similar adventures, which is known as a campaign. The results of the players actions and the overall story line are determined by the DM, as per the rules the game and the DM's interpretation of them. The DM selects and describes all of the non-player characters, or NPCs, the party meet, the encounters with potentially hostile beings, the setting all these interactions take place in, as well as there outcomes based on the players choices and actions. Many of the rules presented in the game help the DM to make decisions. These rules include the coverage of social interactions, magic use, combat, and environmental effects on the PCs. Of course the DM can choose to include or exclude rules, or make up their own if they wish.

D&D is an extremely easy game to learn and just as fun to play, no matter what role you play. This guild shall present as much information and rules on it as possible for your convince.
Last but not least, I hope that you all make use of everything here and enjoy yourselves whilst doing so. Have fun and respect one another. Now, lets play some Dungeons & Dragons.
