Alahgri Dar Li Sun sat atop the cliff above his cave watching as the sun began to sink seemingly beneath the churning waves of the ocean. Already he could feel himself growing tired as the warmth of the golden orb left him. Spreading his wings with a ‘whoosh’ he held them outstretched attempting to catch the last rays as he could. Closing his ruby eyes he inhaled deeply and enjoyed the last little bit. The world he had awoken to was so different from the one in which he had fallen asleep. Shortly after waking he took the opportunity to go on his normal flight, leaving his brother behind to greet what he thought was to be a typical day. He hadn’t realized he had slept for so long until he flew over different areas and realized they were very different from what he remembered. Opening his eyes he sighed as the sky turned pink and orange, the orb out of sight but the light still fading. It wasn’t that this world was undesirable but he suddenly felt lost. He didn’t know what had caused him and his sibling to sleep for so long but it certainly had made things a bit harder for him.
Folding his wings by his side he lowered himself to the ground, his head still up and eyes still on the horizon but his body in the prone position. With a yawn he pulled his tail around him, his scales making a scraping sound as he dragged it over the ground. The shine off the cuff on his tail caught his attention for a brief moment and he allowed for a toothy smile. The gold and ruby glistened, he was very happy that they hadn’t lost their luster in all of these years. His brother wore something similar, just another way to tell they were related. Turning his gaze back to the skyline he exhaled deeply, he had much to learn about this new world.

Taiki made his way along beach. It was his favorite time of the evening. The different colors of the sky painted the ocean the same color, and he almost never ran into anyone on the shores. He was happy for this, though he loved to play with others. But that just made this all the more fun for him. Sometimes, he liked being alone. At this time of night was the perfect time to be here. Depending on the moon, the water could either be swirling around his ankles, or far receded from their normal areas. Tonight, they were at some point between, though it looked as though the tide was coming in.
He continued to pace along the beach, avoiding the normal debris that washed up with the changing tides. Also, there were large boulders to avoid, that had fallen from the cliff above, and had broken the beach into smaller sections. Sometimes, he could find sections of rock that had split or had been carved by their fall, and he would find pools of water with fascinating little creatures crawling in them. Or, if it had been raining, he would find these depressions filled with clear fresh rainwater. and if he couldn't drink his fill on one, he could find another depression and finish quenching his thirst there. There were all sorts of wonders to be found on the sands, like shells and odd twisted wood, and beautiful stones. And behind him, he left his odd-shaped footprints, that when the water became high enough would wash away any trace that he had ever been there. It was enough to distract anyone from anything else around them.

His gilded body had grown heavy and his eyelids had begun to droop. It took every ounce of motivation he had to prop himself up into a standing position. Though the weather outside was wondrous and the world fragrant and vivacious he longed for the protected solitude of his sea cave. With another fierce yawn he unfolded his wings and absentmindedly stepped off the edge of the cliff. The air screamed around him as he allowed himself to plummet and the scent of the ocean was the only thing he could smell. Finally with a loud noise he caught himself with his wings before smashing down to earth. Flapping them made him even more tired seeing as the sun had vanished from sight and only allowed glimpses of it’s light to reveal where it was hidden. Turning himself toward the entrance of his cave he was about to enter when something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. Something of dark colors was moving in an unusual pattern along the beach. Though he was sleepy and vulnerable at this point his curiosity snagged at him and he quickly and quietly flew to where the creature was.
Upon arriving behind the dark one he lowered himself gently to the ground and watched a moment, discerning whether or not he was in any danger. Lowering himself to the sand in the prone position he watched a moment more before speaking in a deep and rumbling voice. “What is it that you are doing stranger?” Though he had encountered others in this new world he hadn’t ever seen someone looking so intently into rocks. Even before he had fallen asleep for such a long time he had never witnessed this phenomenon.

Taiki spun around, to see large golden creature behind him. Though, Taiki was rather small so everything was either big or large where he was concerned. He had thought he'd heard a noise, but had been distracted from it was he had watched a hermit crab scuttle along the bottom of one of the tide pools. They made such strange movements, and he couldn't help but be fascinated. He grinned at the golden one, and pointed with a hoof into the water.
"Tide pools. There's a little crab in this one, and all sorts of little fish and a few strange looking things. I'm not sure if they are alive, or if they are rocks, or what they are. Though, you see that dark orangish one in the star shape. I think it's actually moving."

Alahgri Dar Li Sun watched with interest as the hoofed one explained what it was that had grabbed his attention so. Pulling his large body up from his resting position he approached cautiously, not wishing to startle the stranger. Arching his large neck so he may look into the shallow waters he watched as life moved even in the tiniest of puddles. Though he lived by the ocean he rarely spent time looking into the waters, he just hadn’t had occasion. After watching a moment he grinned gently and looked to Taiki. “I see why you would find such things wondrous; it demonstrates how life can be found in even the simplest of places. I have learned a worthy lesson yet again.” Shifting himself so he may sit near the stranger without being on top of him or disheveling the life within the pool he bowed his head. “I am called Alahgri Dar Li Sun but many use the name Li Sun for me, I hold the title as the golden dragon of the sun and I live in a sea cave not far from here. What may I call you hoofed one?” His voice was deep and rumbling but the air of courtesy was more than evident. It had always been Li Sun’s believe that courtesy and manners were the foundations of a happy society and life.

Taiki grinned. I love playing in water. it's so much fun. And each one of these little pools is different. I'm surprised you haven't seen them before. He tilted his head a bit to the side at the introduction. Ah.. lah gree...... that is rather long. I shall call you Li Sun as well. My name is Taiki. I'm not from around here. I mean, I don't live by the ocean. I just go around from time to time. You live in a cave? What's it like being so far up? Do you have a good view from there?

Li Sun listened without interrupting as Taiki talked about the tide pools and how he enjoyed spending so much time near them. “I have indeed seen them but I never really took the time to actually look. I always figured they were merely puddles brought on by the mighty waves of the sea, nothing more. I shall look more closely from now on for I now see that an entire ecosystem thrives within them.” He did not wrinkle his nose or balk as Taiki attempted to pronounce his name. He may have once in his youth but now he understood that his name wasn’t the sweetest on everyone’s lips. He nodded his head in quiet approval as Taiki decided aloud to call him Li Sun. “Taiki.” He repeated in a somewhat whisper as he chewed on the name and got used to the pronunciation. “Where do you then hail from Taiki?” He asked politely.
As he was asked about his home he closed his eyes and smiled, oh how he loved his dwelling. The way the sea water would form a salt water lake to surround his island of treasures. “My cave is not high though many would assume that to be the smart thing. The tide flows freely in and out of the mouth, a sight I quite enjoy. The walls are a golden color and the waters a clear blue.” Opening his eyes he smiled at Taiki. “The cliff above my cave provides me with a magnificent view, you are welcome to visit anytime you so desire.”

Taiki grinned as Li Sun promised to pay more attention to the pools. As he was asked where he came from, he pointed his nose over his shoulder. That way. I'm usually staying near the fields and what not. I'm told there could be predators and what not around here, but I just love the water. Of course, jumping in and taking a bath in a pond is nice too, and you don't have to worry about the tides like when you try to go into the ocean. He nodded at his own statement. Those can be bad.
He listened attentively to Li Sun as he told him about his home. It sounds really nice. It must be great to have the water come in. And I thank you for offering for me to see the view you have. Though, he turned to look at Li Suns wings, and then turned to look at his wingless back. How am I supposed to get up there if I can't fly?

Li Sun’s golden head lifted as he looked in the direction Taiki had indicated. His ruby eyes turning back to his companion as he heard him speak of predators trolling this area. With a toothy grin he arched his neck so he was at a more comfortable level to converse with Taiki. “As long as this land remains my domain few predators shall harm those I deem as my friends. If ever you come across danger when in this area simply mention my name and they should leave you. Should they not, call loudly for me and I will come as swiftly as my wings will carry me.” Rarely had anyone around here had problems with predators for Li Sun had made sure to let them know who the ruler of this part was. Certainly he did not take away their right of hunting for they needed it but he was able to cast a large shadow of protection over those he invited to wander here. When the mention of bathing in a pond arose Li Sun nodded in agreement. “The tides are a worthy opponent to my strength; I often bathe in the calm waters of my cave. Though a pond seems quite inviting as well what with the fragrant flora blooming all about it.”
Bowing his head in thanks for the compliment on his residence he chuckled. “There is quite a nice path leading up there from here, carved into the rocks and hidden from the eyes of those who wish to spoil it. It may be a bit treacherous but the view in the end is very worth it. Should you find it too difficult I shall lend my wings to you so you may see it.” He finished with a nod.
