I do and don't understand Meditation. What I mean by this is I understand the idea of meditiation, but i don't understand how to do it. Or at least i don't know if i am meditating. I could use a lot of help on this.

The point in meditation is to clear your mind of everything except the exact thing you are meditating on, or to completely clear your mind. I "meditate" in a trance like state, where I think of nothing and focus only on raw emotion and expressing that. If you're not sure if you're doing this or not, then chances are you're not. Some people find that music, or rhythms help to get into this state of mind, or complete silence for others. Some people sing or dance. You just need to find what works for you, the thing that puts you into that state of mind.

Thank you for that, but the way you describe it it makes me feel like i do it automatically without thinking about it. But when i try to do it consciously it doesn't seem to work.

Thank you for that, but the way you describe it it makes me feel like i do it automatically without thinking about it. But when i try to do it consciously it doesn't seem to work. That's pretty normal at first. When you first start, clearing your mind of anything but what you want to focus on can be difficult. It's not something that comes over night, trust me. A lot of books make it out like it's something you can figure out in a couple tries. It's really not though. It took me nearly 7 years to figure out my exact style of meditation and "trance" method. It's something you work at. First, figure out what it is exactly that's helping you to meditate, when you're able. Figure out if it's music, or silence, or the feel of the rhythm or whatever it might be. Maybe it'll be music that helps you the most. Then, figure out what genre works best, then maybe a specific instrument. Just break it down until you know exactly what it is that works best for you. Don't be afraid to try new methods either. Just because one thing works doesn't mean something else might not work better.
