Name: Sascha

Age: 22

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 215 lbs.

Hair Color: Brown

Eye Color: Red

Skin Tone: Slightly tanned

Likes: parties, working out, helping others, meat, parents

Dislikes: Team Rocket, breaking things, being too strong

Personality: Sascha is a very easy-going and friendly gijinka. He's always happy to help others, especially if the task involves his strength--which he is quite proud of. He loves to show off and is great for entertaining groups of people but he can easily come off as being a show-off. Because of his simple upbringing he doesn't worry a lot about things that he can't control but as a result he doesn't understand a lot of human constructs, such as taxes. He's not very intellectual and can come off as downright dense when it comes to difficult subjects like literature. As a result, he finds reading and writing very difficult but he can do simple arithmetic. Due to the circumstances surrounding his mother and humans (and by corollary, Team Rocket), he is very defensive of gijinka who have been abused and will easily fly off the handle if he knows of someone or sees someone he knows being hurt. In this case, it can be very difficult to calm him down and he can be quite destructive to the point of hurting his friends as well as foes. Due to being separated from his family he is very lonely and works hard around lots of people to make him feel better but this can lead to him making some not-so-wise choices regarding his romantic relationships.

Summary of Traits:
xxxxxxxxxxPersonable (+) very friendly and able to make friends easily, does not shy from social situations
xxxxxxxxxxRelaxed (+) easygoing and doesn't sweat a lot of details, prefers to deal with things as they come
xxxxxxxxxxShowboater (+/-) no one likes a showoff, but he's sure to keep people entertained
xxxxxxxxxxInstinctual (-) very much runs on his emotions, which can result in some irrational decisions and destroyed property
xxxxxxxxxxLonely (-) lives alone and desires companionship and doesn't particularly care what kind

Strengths: STRONG, able to lift heavy objects with no trouble and as sturdy as a boulder

Weaknesses: Glass doors (he always manages to break them), narrow doorways, rather dense at times, forgetful

History: Sascha was born a rhyhorn in a lava field, cared for by his parents. His father was notoriously strong and his mother even stronger. He grew up with a happy family, occasionally interacting with other rhyhorns and rhydons in the area, as they tended to more or less keep to their familial herds. When he wasn't with his parents Sascha would explore outside of the lava fields and battling the other pokemon that he ran into for berries or water eventually causing him to evolve into a rhydon. One day on returning from one of his usual adventures from beyond the lava pits he discovered that his father had been attacked and his mother missing. His father revealed to him reluctantly that humans had attacked them while they were hunting and carried off their mother. Sascha knew what humans were but he really hadn't seen them up close, only ever off in the distance with other pokemon. Sascha's immediate response was to track them down and rescue his mother but his father begged him not to, saying that they had something ball-shaped that allowed them to capture his mother with little problem. Sascha agreed to obey if only because he didn't want his father to be lonely. While sleeping besides his father that night, he had a dream. A strange dream.

Sascha wanted his mother back. If there was a way he could avoid the balls that had captured his mother maybe he could rescue her. Maybe if he was more like the humans he could get her back. He could tell them that he wanted his mother back. They would understand, wouldn't they? Humans had mothers and children too. While he mulled over his situation, he saw a brightly colored figure standing before him. The figure was so colorful Sascha didn't even know the words for the colors that the figure was. It was human, he thought. Yes, if he was human the other humans couldn't capture him. He gazed at the colorful figure for a while before looking down and he saw that he looked different. Very different. He almost looked human, but not quite. He wasn't as bulky but he was about as tall and felt kind of smushy. When he looked up to ask the figure where he was, the figure had disappeared.

He awoke hot. Very hot. He had never felt a heat to the extent of this. He found, to his surprise that he was no longer a rhydon. He wasn't human either. He wasn't sure what he was but he knew that it was too hot in the lava field for him to stay much longer. So he ran out of the lava field, leaving his sleeping father behind. He stood out in the grassy plains, moving his toes in the cool soil with some amusement for a while before realizing that he smelled something that smelled... odd.

He walked--on two feet--towards the smell and eventually he came upon a large complex. It had a large red symbol on it, but Sascha didn't recognize what it meant. He had heard about them before. He peeked into the window and saw several humans, doing something. He wasn't sure quite what. After exploring around the complex he began to realize why it smelled strange. It smelled like a lot of different pokemon, all inside. He felt that he had to get inside somehow, it didn't seem to be like a cave. He saw a person enter the complex through a hole in the wall... and the wall started to close up. He quickly ran after the person and sneaked inside.

Once inside he froze. He smelled a familiar scent, the scent of his mother? He pushed past the humans--who seemed to be frightened of him for some reason--following the scent until he reached a room. He peered through a window and saw her, curled up in a small room as if in pain. He banged on the wall, but she couldn't seem to hear him. The humans seemed to be watching him warily, making Sascha's instincts spike--he was in danger. He couldn't, no he wouldn't leave without his mother. After a few failed attempts of trying to get her attention he started to feel desperate. Harnessing his strength, he smashed down the door. After breaking down the door, he found his mother, completely terrified... of him. He ran to his mother, trying to get her to move, aware that the humans were closing in behind him. She wouldn't move--she didn't recognize him and rammed him with her snout.

Stumbling, Sascha realized then that he was completely different from her now. The things that he had only briefly taken notice of before made him realize that he was now a completely different being. He wasn't as tough as he was before. The smashing of the door had left him bleeding and in pain. Where his mother had hit him hurt even more. He stood on two feet. He had a patch of fur on his... head? There wasn't even his horned snout that he was so proud of. He stumbled, feeling the room heave before running away, leaving his mother behind.

Scared and confused, he hid out alone in the plains, unsure of how much time had passed. Finally resolving to make it back to his home, he started the trek to the lava fields to find his family. To his delight, his father and mother were still there--overjoyed to see his return. His mother had made her way back of her own volition and had been living quietly with her mate since escaping from the complex. After realizing who he was and a happy reunion, Sascha's parents urged him to leave them--and go to where the humans were. Sascha knew that they were right, he had no place in the lava fields anymore. He agreed and left his parents after they decided to travel farther away from the humans of this area hopefully never to run into them again.

Sascha knew he might never see his parents again. He also knew that he couldn't live with them anymore. He for the first time in his life he found himself horribly lonely. The city was vastly different from the lava fields. It was loud and bright. Adjusting was difficult for him and he mucked through the underbelly of the city before finally getting a job as a bouncer at a bar. He found he actually enjoyed the job quite a lot: there were plenty of people around and it was never boring. His job brought a stability to his new life that was comforting and thanks to one of the bar's frequent patrons he was able to get a nice flat for him to live in that wouldn't be continuously destroyed by his strength and size. Rather content with his life at present Sascha spends his time working and partying with his friends, all the while trying to find a way to see his parents at some point--and find someone special.

Source: Rhydon RP Prompt winning entry, logged for posterity

Sascha awoke with his head pounding, covered in sweat, grime and sand. It was so unbearably hot. His eyes surveyed his bedroom at the resort noting that the fan had apparently stopped working. He scratched his head, blinking in the sunlight, judging from how bright it was it was surely past noon. He pulled himself up to a sitting position, rubbing his temples and eyeing the mess that he had apparently made last night. The contents of his dresser were strewn everywhere all over the floor and even some socks managed to somehow stick to the mirror. He wasn’t quite sure if he wanted to know how they were stuck there. His groggy survey of the room was interrupted as he put his hand down and felt warm flesh that certainly was not his own. He looked down to see his hand resting on the arm of a young female skitty, nestled in his blankets. She didn’t stir and in fact seemed perfectly content curled up beside him. He stared at her blankly. He had no idea who she was. Well, this is awkward, he thought to himself, scratching a bug bite on his chest. It wasn’t the first time this had happened even though it wasn’t something he was particularly proud of. He did note however that she appeared to be clothed, at least on top.

He figured it was best to let her sleep for now and started to climb out of bed. Immediately, he realized that he was naked. Of course. He groaned a little but decided that he would ask the skitty later if anything of note had transpired. He shuffled into the bathroom to see that the shower door had been completely smashed, more than likely because of his massive tail. It certainly did seem to get in the way at the most inopportune of times. Still, he needed a shower badly and climbed in, minding the glass as he turned on the water. It was hot but reassuringly so, not like the sticky hot temperature of the room. He watched the sand and grime swirl around the drain before disappearing with the fascination of a man with a splitting hangover before he snapped out of it enough to wash his body. He grabbed the soap bar and proceeded to lather it up washing under his armpits first. What had happened last night? Sascha screwed his eyes shut and tried to remember.

The water helped clear his head a little and some of the events of night before came drifting back to him, albeit in pieces and flashes. He wasn’t exactly sure what the order of events was just yet, but he hoped with time he could remember them. He remembered… a party. Yes a party. A large party. A whole bunch of fellow gijinka had thrown a huge party on the beach. As he recalled it involved a large bonfire and copious amounts of alcohol. His head throbbed a little as he massaged soap into his hair. Well, at least the party explained the girl. At least he didn’t kidnap her or anything. Sascha was pretty sure that he would never do such a thing while drunk but then again, he had a reputation for being rather unpredictable.

Oh great. Sascha groaned. No matter what, even if he had nothing to do with it he would certainly be in trouble for his sheer size and strength. The brief memory flashes of him opening a giant keg by ripping the top off with his bare hands didn’t help matters. He hoped that he didn’t break anything too expensive but he had a sick feeling in his stomach that he had. He quickly made his way over to his dresser and upon suddenly remembering that he had emptied it last night looking for burglars. That made sense, he thought to himself bitterly. At least his head wasn’t hurting too badly. The skitty helped him find a pair of pants (that had somehow made it behind the television) and he retreated back to the bathroom to change into them before there was a knock at the door. The skitty retreated back into the bed cautiously as Sascha answered the door.

Officer Jenny, as he recognized her, stood on the doorstep. She looked up at him and he looked down at her. He already knew that he was in trouble.
“Hello Officer.”
Officer Jenny wasted no time. “Whereabouts were you last night, sir?”
“I was at the party on the beach,” Sascha said truthfully.
“Do you remember anything about last night sir? We’re looking for a group of thugs that broke into the boat rental center and stole some jet skis.”
That seems… vaguely familiar, Sascha thought to himself grimly. Suddenly he had another flashback from the previous night.

“Hey man, get Sascha, he could break this.”
“Which one is that? A girl?”
“No man, the rhydon. Big guy.”

Sascha remembered sitting on the dock when someone called his name.
“Sascha, man, bet you a keg you can’t open this place up.”
Sascha got to his feet heavily and went over to the front of the rental center. Several gijinka were there, trying to get the doors open. Sascha took the large padlock in his hand and crushed it.
“Woahhh, man told you he could do it!” The other gijinka responded by breaking the windows of the center and jumping into the store. Sascha felt a feeling of satisfaction and returned to the dock after a keg was delivered to him. He was still drinking from it when he pulled a small kitty out of the water a little while later as some gijinka zoomed off with some jet skis.

“…Oh,” Sascha said sheepishly. “I guess I… know something about that.” He flexed his hand, still feeling the metal lock in his hand. He hoped that he wouldn’t get into too much trouble. After all, it’s not like this happened often. Really.
