Yuki Cross's earliest memory is of being attacked by a vampire and saved by Kaname Kuran, also a vampire. Ten years later, Yuki and a vampire hunter, Zero Kiryu attend Cross Academy as school guardians protecting the "Day Class" and the "Night Class" from each other to keep vampires secret. The story follows Yuki's discovery that her childhood friend, Zero, has spent the last four years trying to fight his transformation into a vampire, and he has finally succumbed. Yuki struggles to help Zero fight his bloodlust and to recover her own lost memories, while suspecting that Kaname knows more than he is saying.
When his uncle, Rido Kuran, returns to kill Yuki, Kaname is forced to reveal her secret by biting Yuki and awakening her true nature as a vampire, returning her memories of being Yuki Kuran, his younger sister. Rido is killed by Zero and Yuki while Kaname faces and destroys Rido's allies, the Vampire Council, revealing himself to be one of the original vampires and the founder of the Kuran clan. Yuki and Zero part as enemies after Zero reveals he intends to end everything, by killing all purebloods, even her. Yuki leaves with Kaname and they return to the Kuran family home. The story restarts a year later with Yuki's dealing with vampire society and new enemies, such as Sara Shirabuki.

I Love this anime but I didn't get a chance to read the manga yet. This is a must watch if you like romance, killing and vampire things.

I've seen many Yuki/Kaname pictures and stories, Why would they get paired together if he's her brother for crying out loud?
Zero's their enemy?! gonk Not cool! He's the only one I remotely like! (hasn't seen the series)

my friend always says "kah-nah-mee" instead of "kah-nah-may"...... that always bothers me.
other than that, Zero rocks, Kaname is annoying and Yuki a little less. Though I like some of the other Night Class characters but can't remember them all....

Yo...i actually cried in the end. That anime is so messed up. Zero deserves Yuuki and what's his face can go die in the sun D:< (haven't watched it in years but still remembers how it ends)

Zero deserves Yuuki and what's his face can go die in the sun D:< (haven't watched it in years but still remembers how it ends) i agree with you, Yuuki and Zero belong together. I feel that Kaname is to selfish wen it comes to Yuuki, and should not have turned her.

Well you also have to keep in mind that Yuuki was is sibling or something like that and they were always together and stuff. Since Kaname spent so much time with her he didn't want anything to change because he's used to how everything used to be and all...ya know? But i do agree that he shouldn't have been selfish like that, it was a bit rude.

I LOVE Vampire Knight!! I have ALL of the Manga (13 volume as of now)
But I just have to say this...I think Kaname and Zero were hotter in the manga then in the anime...sorry fangirls had to say it xp

My thoughts on VK.
Horrible and generic characters.
Awful character development.
Cliche plot/plot twists.
The anime art is better than the manga. Not by much, but defiantly an improvement.
The animation for the anime was fluid and honestly the only good thing about it.
VK quickly made it on my crap list. Also I enjoy the weird hint of incest between Yuki and Kaname.

I'm a little confuse why did Kaname turn Yuuki back into a vampire but then tried to kill her? Am i right or wrong... confused
