-Stage One-
Entrance

Looking out the window of the airplane, Kuni Kaiba gazed down at the island bellow as the view zoomed in closer, she could now clearly see a large building on the south side surrounded by lush green trees and a smoking volcano behind it. Using her hand to keep her head up, she sighed, today was the day she would be attending the prestigious duel academy, an academy that her father owned so of course, she knew no matter what she did, she would get “extra special treatment” out of fear by the staff that if she wasn’t happy with the way things worked, she’d b***h to her father and have it burnt to the ground. Letting out another melancholy like sigh, she turned her attention away from the windows as a small ring indicated the speakers turning on. “Attention Passengers! We are now beginning our decent into Duel Academy, please make sure your seatbelt are fastened. Thank you.”
Kuni snickered at what the pilot had to say, what passengers? She was on KaibaCorp’s private jet plane, the only “passengers” were her and herself. But none the less, she re-buckled the seatbelt and leaned back on the recliner like chair, closing her deep blue eyes and taking deep breathes.
Kuni had remembered the day a few weeks ago when her father, Seto Kaiba, president of KaibaCorp had told her about her sudden enrollment to the Academy.

“Duel Academy?” Kuni said with a confused tone as she sat in her father’s office, looking up from her deck of cards to make sure she had heard him right. “Yes Duel Academy, I think it might be a good experience for you, I mean as a Kaiba, it makes sense for you to go to a school run by the Kaiba Corporation.” Her father replied as he stood in his regular crossed arms position. “I suppose so.” Kuni herself had never really been to any schools, all her life she had private tutor but never had actually been a part of a class, she wondered how it would turn out.

The girl re-opened her eyes as the vibrations of the plane landing on solid ground shoke the interior, followed by the pilot saying “Welcome to Duel Academy. I hope you enjoyed your flight.” Over the intercom again like there was more than one person on board. Unbuckling, Kuni stood up and stretched her arms from being seated for approximately 3 hours. Walking to the exit, she said thank you to the pilot as he opened the door for her and she carefully stepped down the metal fold out stair case. Glancing out to the sides, Kuni could see the ocean in the distance on the left and the volcanic mountain on the right, they had looked a lot smaller a few minutes ago.

“Welcome to Duel Academy!”

Kuni turned to face the cheery and almost goofy sounding voice to see a young man wearing a black suit giving her a warm looking smile. His jacket was opened to show a better view of his crooked red tie that hanged over his open white shirt’s collar. Instead of wearing a regular belt, he had a studded black one underneath his lose shirt, and that wasn’t even the worst, he had incredibly stupid looking brown hair.

“Hello.” Kuni replied back in a nice tone as the man walked up towards her, maintaining the smile on his face. “You must be Miss Kuni Kaiba, Nice to meet you; I’m this academy’s Chancellor, Mr. Yuki, but it drives me nuts when people call me that so just call me Jaden.” He explained as he took his hand out of his pocket and extended it out towards her.

“Nice to meet you, Sir.” She said back, taking his hand and shaking it. “Alright then, allow me to give you a tour of our school!” he said, again in the idiotic and way to enthusiastic tone.

She followed Mr. Yuki off the rooftop and down a few stairs until they reached a long circular hallway with multiple doors on the left side and an extended window on the right overlooking the smaller building bellow.

“So these are classrooms, you’ll be assigned a home room and that’s were you’ll be taught by one of our teachers.” Mr. Yuki explained as they kept walking. “I’d like to show you the inside but class is already in session right now. Sorry about that.”

”I’ll take a look around tomorrow when I get the chance.” Kuni replied, They continued to walk around the main building as Jaden showed her where the nurses office, main office and other areas she might need to know about where like the cafeteria and after walking quite some distance away from the main building, they now stood in front of what could he defined as a mansion.

“This is the Obelisk Blue, Girl’s Dormitory; this is where you’ll be staying at.” He said as Kuni glanced around the building, it looked like something out of a fairytale, neatly painted pure white with blue trim and a sparkling crystal clear like on the side that lead across the boy’s dormitory. Kuni made a small tisking sound under her breath, All transfer students were suppose to start at Slipher Red but because of her family, she had been automatically placed in Obelisk Blue, regardless of the rules. Her “extra special treatment” had already begun.

“Well this is as far as I’ll take you, No boy’s allowed, ya know, The dorm advisor should be here shortly to help you get unpacked and settled in, See yah around, and Welcome to Duel Academy again!” Mr. Yuki said with a quick wave as her turned around and walked away back towards the main building.

Walking up the polished white stone staircase, she headed towards one of multiple blue painted doors, turning the silver door handle as she entered inside. It looked more like a fairytale castle inside. Wide open lobby with a fountain in the center and multiple chairs and sofa patterned around it, on the walls were expensive looking paintings and a regal looking double stair case that lead to two golden doors, while two stood bellow them. A bunch more details but Kuni wasn’t hugely impressed since she was kind of used to the whole thing.

The sound of footsteps clicking down the regal stairs turned Kuni’s attention away from the dorm’s design at to see a woman with long blonde hair and green eyes waving at her from the stairs as she carefully made her way down, not trying to trip over her white high heel ankle boots. “Hello! You must be Kuni, Oh everyone’s been so excited to have you here, I’m Ms. Rita, Your dorm advisor and gym teacher, so we’ll be seeing each other a lot.” The woman explained as they shoke hands. “If you follow me this way I’ll show you too your room.” She said in a way too exited tone as Kuni nodded and followed her up the golden staircase and through the right door, and down a sleek long hallway with doors on each side about seven feet across from the next one. “And this is your own room! Especially for you!”

Kuni twisted the door knob of the door that had the numbers 119 above it and to the side, another plank that said “KUNI KAIBA” followed by two empty slots underneath her name. As the door swung open Kuni knew, once again she had received special treatment. The room was beautiful, absolutely studding. The walls were painted a light purple shade with a cream stone titled floor. A queen-sized bed sat upon a retro-looking frame, across from it was a white desk with a brand new laptop, the desk then extended out to a shelf were a medium sized flat screen TV sat. A white dresser stood beside the door to the balcony and on the left was a door that probably led to a private bathroom.

“So, how do you like it?” Ms. Rita asked as she clapped her hands together in a childish fashion. Kuni nodded “I like it, I like it a lot.”

“Excellent, Excellent, Your luggage is over there, we’d figure you’d like to unpack yourself along with a present on the bed. I have to get some other work done so if you excuse me, I’ll see you at dinner. Toodles.” Ms. Rita said as she closed the door gently behind her.

Kuni kicked of her shoes at the entrance as she made her way over to the purple plush bed, sitting down before flopping onto her back as she stretched her arms out. So far, so good…. she told herself, So far, so good..

-Stage two-
First Fight

As Kuni was waiting in line for breakfast in the Obelisk Blue cafeteria, she reflected on her pas few days at Duel Academy. Her classes weren't too bad, though it was strange being with all those other kids. Her favorite class was with professor Cyrus, a bit quiet, but all the students really respected him. So far, though, she hadn't been able to make any friends. All the students ever did was look at her funny, then whisper to each other when they thought she wasn't looking. Today was no different. She collected her breakfast, which today consisted of orange juice, scrambled eggs, toast and grapes, and proceeded to the commons. She gave up on trying to find a table on her first day, seeing as the moment she sat down, the table went absolutely silent.
"But that's okay," she said to herself as she sat down on one of the benches, "I prefer being alone."
She almost jumped out of her skin when someone answered, "Pfff. Yeah right!"
Kuni whirled around, almost dropping her breakfast, and was more than a little surprised to see a boy stretched out on the next bench over. What confused her even more was that his coat wasn't school colors, it was mottled bright green and blue!
"It also wouldn't be a bad idea to not talk to yourself," he said, still gazing at the sky.
"EXCUSE me," Kuni huffed, "but who ARE you and why did you surprise me like that!?"
"In order," he grunted as he sat up, "my name's Alan Salac, Ra yellow. And, YOU'RE just unobservant. You have to be really out of it not to notice a six-foot 16 year old in a bright blue/green outfit lying on a bench!" he laughed out the last part, enjoying poking fun at Kuni. "How about you tell me your name, small fry?"
Kuni was speechless. She had NEVER been sassed like this in her life! Before Alan's smirk became too wide, she answered in a huff, "I'm Kuni Kaiba." She expected him to grovel, to suddenly loose that light in his eyes, to go pale realizing he insulted a girl with powerful parents.

She didn't expect him fall over laughing.

"I'm telling the truth!" she said mortified, "I really am Kuni Kaiba!!"
"I *gasp* believe you!" Alan choked out, catching his breath, still with that stupid grin, "it's just that *wheeze* you've got your entrance duel today!"
"Well what's that got to do with it?" she asked, genuinely confused.
"They matched you up with the top duelist in the school!" he sank back into his laughing fits but finally managed to cackle out,"it's gonna be a bloodbath!"
Fuming, Kuni dumped her orange juice on Alan's head, and stormed back to the girls dormitory.

Alan desperately tried to get a hold of himself as Kuni stormed away, and managed to stop laughing after about a minute. Still grinning he stood up, brushing the dirt off of his clothes, and shaking the orange juice out if his brown hair.
"Was that really necessary?" asked the ghost image beside him. His skin was purple, and he was dressed in light green, with a green jewel at the end of each sleeve, and carried a strange club which resembled half one of those whirlybird fans children played with.
”Oh, calm yourself" Alan answered, still grinning, "It's just a little mental warfare."

Kuni shuffled through her deck for what must have been the fiftieth time that day. WHY had that Alan Sail-something gotten to her so bad? She was an excellent duelist! Her dragons had never let her down! But she had only ever dueled the computer and Uncle Mokuba...
No! She had to calm down! This was her last class of the day, and then she would be dueling!
"Kuni, is everything all right?" a little startled, Kuni looked up to find Chancellor Jaden in front of her.
"Yes, fine, chancellor," Though the way her voice shook it was obvious she wasn't, "why do you ask?"
"Your class ended fifteen minutes ago, and your duel is in five."
Horrified , she saw he was right, and immediately bolted for the door, heading towards the obelisk arena. "Darn you!" she screamed, for once not caring who saw her, "Darn you, ALAN SALAAAAAC!"

"Welcome one and all, to the duel academy entrance duel!" Professor Princeton boomed over the loudspeaker, "as you all know, our school has recently been graced by the presence of Miss Kuni Kaiba! And today, she will further honor us with her fantastic dueling ability!"
This speech wasn't exactly calming, in fact, Kuni was more nervous than ever! The stadium was completely pack, and she couldn't tell whether they were cheering for her, or her opponent.
”Now, let's give her a duel academy welcome! Here she is, heir to Kaibacorp, and a fellow Obelisk blue, Kuni Kaiba!"
That was her cue. Mustering as much self confidence as she could, she strode out onto the field. She didn't expect the cheering to be so overwhelming! For the first time since this morning, she felt better. Maybe they were rooting for her after all...
color=#000000]"And now," continued Professor Princeton, "her opponent, dubbed the Green Whirlwind of Ra for being the fastest ever to complete the annual speed duels, put your hands together for...!"
The cheering completely drowned out her opponent's name and that sinking feeling returned to her gut. All she could do was try to make out who was coming out of the corridor.
She recognized him the second he came up the steps. Six feet tall, green shirt, mottled green and blue trench coat, even his duel disk was green!
"YOU!?!" she screamed, furious.
"ME!" Alan yelled back, grinning a mile across.
"I can't believe I fell for that!" she scolded herself, adding in a face palm.
"I can!" Alan laughed in his sickeningly triumphant tone, "it works every time!"
Kuni was about to shoot back when she was interrupted by the order, ”Duelists, shake hands!"
They walked towards the center of the arena, and when they met in the center, they shook hands. As she glared at him, she could have sworn she saw something in his eyes that wasn't happy-go-lucky. Regret? Sadness? But she must have been imagining it. No way someone like that could feel any level of empathy. Turning on their heels, they marched back towards their separate ends of the arena, and turned on their duel disks, shouting simultaneously, "DUEL!"

-Stage Three-
Rivalry

ALAN:4000
KUNI:4000

"Ladies first!" Alan said cheerfully, bowing more than a little sarcastically.
"How surprisingly chivalrous of you," she muttered, rolling her eyes while she drew her first card. She looked at it for a moment, then made her decision. "I'll start off by playing the spell card {White Dragon Ritual}! By discarding from my hand a level 4 or above monster," She said as she sent a {Luster Dragon} from her hand to the graveyard, "I can special summon the {Paladin of White Dragon ATK/1900 DEF/1200}!" She slapped down the ritual monster onto her duel disk, and the Paladin appeared in front of her in a whirl of blue smoke. The blue-sheened dragon hovered before her ready to attack, with the silver armored Paladin readying his lance on his dragon. "Next, I'll place two cards face down, and end my turn." "Ooh, now that's fancy!" Alan grinned, "My turn! DRAW! Hmmm, I think I'll summon the {Flying Kamakiri #1 ATK/1200 DEF/900} in attack mode!" As soon as he said it, the humanoid dragonfly appeared on the field ready for battle. It must have some sort of special ability, Kuni thought to herself, otherwise he wouldn't have gone and summoned a weaker monster.
"BUT that's not all!" Alan continued, "I'll place THREE cards face down! Now I, too, shall end my turn." Again. he did that extremely annoying bow.
"Whatever," she scowled as she drew again, "Well, I think I'll-"[/b]"TRIGGER TRAP!!" Alan shouted gleefully, "Now that it's your turn, I'll activate my continuous trap card, {Solemn Wishes}!" The middle face-down card flipped vertical, showing a picture of a laughing girl standing in rain, "Every time I draw a card or cards, I gain 500 life points!" Folding her arms across her chest, she raised an eyebrow at him. "You done?"
"Yup-yup. Preeetty much." Alan answered, calmly for once.
"Thank you," Kuni said tartly, "Now, as I was saying, I'll have my Paladin squash your bug! GO! White lance attack!"
Paladin 1900->Kamakiri 1400 ALAN: 0 DAMAGE
The paladin charged, easily goring the insect, and erupting into white flames. After the burst was done however, Alan's life points hadn't changed, when he should have lost 500 points! "Check your gear," Kuni snapped, "Your life points haven't changed."
Alan smiled, and answered calmly again, "That's because while your paladin was charging, I activated my second face down card, {Spirit Barrier}! It's a continuous trap card the makes sure I don't take any battle damage when I have a monster on the field." Kuni was shocked to see he was telling the truth!
"And it's not over yet!" Alan said, excited again, "When Flying Kamakiri is destroyed by battle, he sends out a distress call, and I get to summon from my deck or hand a wind type monster with 1500 or less attack points! So I think I'll summon, {Armed Dragon LV 3 ATK/1200 DEF/900}!" The small orange and grey dragon appeared on the field, and it didn't look friendly! Kuni knew just what would happen on Alan's next turn, and decided to be prepared.
"Well, my Paladin has a special ability of his own!" She said defiantly, "He too can send out a distress call, and he can sacrifice himself to summon one of the most powerful monsters ever!" All while she was speaking, a storm gathered above the arena, and the Paladin flew right into the eye of the storm, "Say hello to your destruction, Green Whirlwind, The Fourth and Final, {Blue-Eyes White Dragon ATK/3000 DEF/2500}!" The shining dragon majestically lowered from the storm, and the entire arena cheered. What had she been worried about? This was gonna be a bloodbath, but it certainly wasn't gonna be her blood! "I'll end my turn there, seeing as my battle phase is already over."
Kuni was surprised and a little bit shaken. She could tell his demeanor had changed, but why? This wasn't fear in front of the Blue-Eyes, this was something else. Excitement? She couldn't be sure.
ALAN:4500
"Because I drew a card, I gain 500 life points," Alan excitedly stated, "and during my standby phase, I send my armed dragon to the graveyard to special summon {Armed Dragon LV 5 ATK/2400 DEF/1700 !" The small orange dragon grew larger and more menacing, turning red and growing metallic spikes, "Next, I'll summon {Harpie Lady 1 ATK/1300 DEF/1400}, and while she's on the field, all wind type monsters gain 300 attack points!" Armed Dragon 2400->2700 Harpie Lady 1300->1600 "Then I'll place one more card face down, and end my turn." "Alright, fine! Draw!" This was just the card she was hoping for. "Alright, I'll summon {Axe Dragonute ATK/2000 DEF/1200} to my side of the field in attack mode!" The black armored dragon carrying a wicked axe burst forth from a wall of flames as she inserted the card into her duel disk, "and I'll have him attack your Harpie Lady!"
Axe Dragonute 2000-> Harpie Lady 1600 ALAN: 0 DAMAGEIt took almost no effort for her dragon to clip those harpie's wings!
"Aha!" Alan yelled triumphantly, "But I also know that after Axe Dragonute attacks, he has to be changed from attack position, to defense position!"
It was true. The dragon had already lowered his axe into a defensive stance, making it much more vulnerable. But she wasn't worried.
"Now," She yelled gleefully, "Blue-Eyes White Dragon! Destroy his puny armed dragon!" The dragon began gathering white energy into it's maw, preparing to blast, when Alan shouted,
"TRIGGER TRAP! I activate my third face down card! {Draining Shield}!" The armed dragon and Alan were suddenly surrounded by a rainbow force field, that easily absorbed the Blue-eyes's blast, "Draining Shield is a special trap card, it takes the attack points of your attacking monster, and adds them to my life points!"
ALAN:4500->7500
"WHAT?!?!" Kuni shrieked, furious, but she could see he was right. Her Blue-Eyes's power was being absorbed by that cocky, overconfident, sassy, braggart! "I have to end my turn," She growled, grinding her teeth as she did so.
"Yes Ma'am!" Alan cackled, drawing again.
ALAN:12000
"Alrighty, first I'll set one monster in face down defense position, next, I'll have my Armed dragon atta-"
"Sorry," Kuni said, obviously not sorry at all, "But I activate my trap card, {Threatening Roar}! You can't attack this turn!"
Alan opened his mouth wide, and put up his index finger, holding that pose for a couple seconds, then dropped his arms, and head, down in a bit of an over dramatic "UGH!"
"Well I feel sheepish," he said, STILL grinning, "Then I guess all I can do is put down another face down and end my turn."
Kuni drew once more, and then began, "First, I'll switch my Axe Dragonute to Attack mode!" The dragon warrior straightened up, preparing to attack, and it didn't have to wait long, "Now go! Attack his set monster!"
Axe Dragonute ATK/2000-> Mist Valley Watcher DEF/1900 The dragon lunged, and brought his axe down on the card, which revealed itself to be {Mist Valley Watcher DEF/1900} a man with bird claws and feathers, and though his defense was high it just wasn't enough to stand up to her dragon's mighty axe! "Now," Kuni declared as her dragon once more changed positions, "Blue-eyes White Dragon! Take out his monster!"
"Sorry, Miz Kaiba!" Alan said in a mockingly apologetic tone, "But I activate my trap card, {Time Machine}! It brings back a monster that was destroyed by battle this turn!" No sooner had Alan said it, the watcher reappeared on his side of the field.
"Yeah, so?" Kuni shot back as her dragon was charging it's destructive beam, "Neither of your monsters can hope to beat my Blue-Eyes!"
"You mean, their attack is too low, right?" Alan answered, "Well, you're right about that! But you see, I play using a wind deck, and well, the winds can be calm one moment, but a maelstrom the next. Not even your dragon can stand up to the forces of nature."
Kuni felt a chill go down her spine. Alan's demeanor had suddenly changed. This wasn't fun-fun-fun Alan, this was someone else. This was the Green Whirlwind.
"Now," Alan declared as the Blue-Eyes fired its beam at his armed dragon, "I'll activate the {Spiritual Wind Art: Miyabi (Elegance)} " Alan's final facedown card flipped up, and the Mist Valley Watcher became shrouded in an aurora of green light within a glowing seal, which then met the Blue-Eye's blast! The entire arena was consumed in a bright light, and Kuni had to cover her eyes. When the light was gone, she found that so were the mist valley watcher, and her Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
"Wha-what did you do!?" Kuni asked disbelievingly.
Alan, once more with a grin in place, answered, "Each wind type monster has great potential. The Spiritual Wind Art unlocks that potential at a price. They get sent to the graveyard, but blow one card on your side of the field the the bottom of your deck." Kuni paled. All she had left was her facedown and her Axe dragonute! Alan still had the Armed dragon! He had played her perfectly. Using her dragon's power to boost his life points, then sending it to the bottom of her deck. "I- I end my turn."
ALAN:8500
Alan drew again, and smiled, "Just who I was looking for. Alright, By removing from play one wind monster in my graveyard, I get to special summon, {Silpheed ATK/1700 DEF/700}" The purple warrior burst forth from a green tornado, readying his club for attack, "Next, I'll have my Armed Dragon attack your Axe dragonute!"
Armed Dragon ATK/2400->Axe Dragonute DEF/1200 KUNI: 0 DAMAGE All it took was a punch from one of the dragon's fists to lay low her dragonute, leaving her wide open.
"Now, Silpheed, attack her directly!" Silpheed threw his club at her, spinning like a boomerang it sliced through her chest. It didn't hurt, seeing as they were just holograms, but she felt an unpleasant tingle where the club had 'cut' her.
Silpheed 1700->Kuni
KUNI:2300

"And," Alan continued, "because it's my Armed dragon destroyed one of your monsters by battle this turn, my armed dragon levels up again! Come on out, {Armed Dragon LV 7 ATK/2800 DEF/1000}!" The dragon grew again, sprouting more wicked blades and now towered almost to the ceiling!
But Kuni had been ready! "I activate my trap card!" Kuni yelled above the crowd, "{Spellbinding Circle}! Now, your monster can't attack, or change positions!" The armed dragon became wrapped in magic script, and it howled in defiance, struggling against the bonds, but soon gave up, and glared angrily at his capturer.
To everyone's surprise, Alan punched the air, screaming, "YES! OH I had HOPED this was gonna be interesting! YOU have got some serious moves, shorty!"
"I'm five-foot-four!" Kuni screamed, her voice rising, "I'm not short! Just because I'M not some towering behemoth, doesn't make me SHORT!" Kuni surprised herself by stamping her foot in a very girly childish fashion. He was doing it again! Getting inside her head, making her lose her cool, in front of the entire school!
"Well, I guess I'm gonna have to end my turn!"Kuni growled as she drew her next card. Perfect. Just what she had been looking for. "You think you're the only one who has dragons that can level up?" She shouted, "Well, let me introduce you to {Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4 ATK/1600 DEF/1000}! " The pillar of dark flames erupted in the center of the arena, and out from them stepped a dragon that looked more like an eagle than anything else. "Next," shouted Kuni triumphantly, "I'll play the {Level Up!} spell card, which morphs my Horus into {Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 ATK/2300 DEF/1000}!" Her dragon became covered in a rainbow aura, and grew in size until it matched Alan's armed dragon! "And, he has a special ability! He is unaffected by spell cards! Spell cards like {Dark Hole}!" As she inserted her card, the floor of the arena dropped into oblivion, taking Alan's monsters with it. "Then I'll have Horus attack you directly!"
Horus 2300->Alan
ALAN:6200

Alan covered his head as he was blasted with the purple flames, the unpleasant tingling spreading throughout his entire body, and thought he might just be out of luck.
"I'll end my turn there."
ALAN:6700
Alan looked at the card he drew, then laughed, "Sorry, Miz Kaiba, but you lose. I play {Pot of Greed}, which allows me to draw two more cards! Next, I'll activate the {Rising Air Current} field spell card!" The arena disappeared from view, and she and Alan were standing in the sky, far above duel academy. "This boosts the attack of wind type monsters by 500 points! next, I can banish a wind monster in my graveyard to special summon back good ol' Silpheed!" Once again, the purple warrior appeared on Alan's side of the field. "Now, I normal summon the {Hand of Nephthys ATK/1100 DEF/1100}!" In a whirl of fire, an Egyptian priestess appeared, dressed in red wraps, and wearing gold leggings, armbands, and phoenix crown fluttered to Alan's side of the field. "And she has a special ability! By sacrificing her and one other monster on my side of the field, I can special summon the {Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys ATK/2400 DEF/1600}! And, I'll banish another wind type monster from play to re-summon Silpheed!"
Kuni started to panic. That phoenix was stronger than her dragon! But she'd be okay. Silpheed only had 1700 attack points! She'd have 500 to spare!
"Now go!" Alan yelled, "Sacred Phoenix, attack her dragon! Flame Wing burst!"
Phoenix 2400->Horus 2300 KUNI: 100 DAMAGE
KUNI:2200

The Phoenix burst into golden flames, and easily sliced the dragon apart, 'singing' Kuni as it did so.
"Now, Silpheed," Alan commanded triumphantly, "Finish her off!"
As Silpheed threw his club, Kuni yelled, "Your math skills need work! I'll still have 500 life points left!"
Alan chuckled. "Remember what I said about this field? Wind types are powered up by 500 points. You lose."
Kuni paled as the club sliced through her again, and the holograms disappeared.
Silpheed 2200->Kuni
KUNI:0000 LOSS
ALAN:7200 WIN

The crowd went wild, and Kuni felt tears welling up in her eyes. Not wanting to be seen crying like a baby, she decided to go against etiquette and ran from the arena. Alan shouted something, but she didn't care. She didn't even notice when her duel disk fell off of her arm. She just had to get away.

###

"HEY! WAIT!" Alan shouted as Kuni ran off the arena and into the corridor, not really think what he would do if he caught her, he sprinted after her, "STOP! AAAAAAAUGH!" Alan shouted the last part when he tripped over something in the hallway. Curling into a ball moaning, he clutched his head. This was one of the problems with being really tall. Standing up, he knew he couldn't catch her. She was fast. Wicked fast. Then he saw what he had tripped over. "Aw, man..." He sighed. His tumble had demolished Kuni's Duel Disk. Her cards were intact though... Alan decided on his plan of action and began picking up broken pieces of the Duel Disk, when he heard Silpheed's voice. "Told you so." "Can it, Feather brain."#

###

Kuni sat up after what seemed like ages. She had ran back to her room, and cried into her pillow for hours. She even missed dinner. Finally getting a hold of herself, she went over to the big make-up mirror next to the balcony to survey the damage. She looked worse than she ever had. Her eyes were all red and puffy, her hair was mussed, and her clothes looked like they had been repeatedly trampled by a rhino. Just as she was thinking it was time for bed, the small buzzer grate next to her bed went off. Puzzled, she pressed the button and rasped out "Hello?" Crying for hours on end, she thought to herself, doesn't do much for your voice.
"Kuni? Are you alright?" It was Chancellor Jaden! "I saw you run out of the arena, and the girls dorm manager says you weren't at dinner..."
"Oh, I'm fine. Just a little nervous you know," not sounding the least bit convincing, "I was just napping."
"Mmm," She knew he knew she was lying, "Well, I'd still like to have a talk with you."
"Okay," she sighed, feeling defeated again, "I'll stop by to-"
"No. Now."
"Now?"
"Now." Jaden said firmly, "Do you know where the lake is?"
"Yes..."
"Good. I'll meet you there."
Thoroughly confused, Kuni put on her shoes. Though, the chancellor couldn't have chosen a better time. All the girls would be asleep by now, so she would be able to wait and face complete humiliation tomorrow. As she stepped out into the cool night air, making her way towards the lake, she felt very much at peace.
When she made it to the shore, she could see the chancellor standing under a tree. There was a full moon out, so she could see her surroundings fairly well, but the chancellor was in total darkness. Had he always been that tall?
"Chancellor?" she called out, wanting to make sure.
"Sort of," came 'Jaden's' reply as he stepped out from under the tree revealing his mottled green/blue coat.
"I'm very good with imitations." Alan said in the chancellor's voice.
Furious, Kuni strode up to him, and smacked him as hard as she could.
[bcolor=green]"Okay!" He said as the red handprint became more pronounced on his face, "I deserved that!"
"What?" Kuni spat, livid, "Humiliating me infront of the school not enough? Just HAD to come and rube it in yourself, HUH?!"
"No!" Alan said quickly holding up his hands, "You don't understand I-"
"OH!" Kuni shrieked, hysterical now, "I don't UNDERSTAND! WELL! That makes it ALL BETTER! Listen here, Salac, there is nothing, I repeat, NOTHING you can say that will get me to stay!"
Just as she was about to storm back to her room, Alan yelled, "I came to apologize!!!"
Taking her confused silence to jump in, Alan began in a rush, "I didn't mean for it to go that far. Really! Remember when I said that it works every time? Well, I'd never done it before to anyone! Well, I have, but they deserved it and that's not the point! You transferred in and got immediately bumped up to Obelisk Blue, I just assumed you were some stuck up rich kid! Anyway, you never noticed, but we share all the same classes, and this morning when you sat down saying how you preferred being alone and you hadn't even noticed me even though I'd always been on that very same bench every morning, well that just confirmed my suspicions! I knew full well I was dueling you this afternoon, so I psyched you out, but I could tell it had gone too far! You were totally out of it the entire day! Then when you ran off crying, I just... GAH! I'm not that kind of a guy! I'm really, really sorry! OH! And this is yours!" With that, Alan produced from behind his back, Kuni's Duel Disk. But it seemed different...
Cautiously, Kuni approached Alan and took her Duel Disk to examine it. The trim was still Obelisk blue, but what had been plain white was changed to the iridescent pearl-like hue of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon! There was even an etched in Blue-Eyes curled around the oval deck holder, also, the red light had been changed to blue, and the double-K Kaibacorp logo was etched in, though smaller letters spelled out her name: Kuni Kaiba
"I'm pretty good at tinkering", Alan said sheepishly, "So, whaddya say? Friends?"
Kuni looked at him, really looked at him for the first time. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all, and he did look cute, standing there in the moonlight...

###

"So, whaddya say? Friends?"
Alan expected her to start crying, admit it was all a misunderstanding gone horribly wrong. Maybe hug him. Maybe even kiss him!

He did not expect her to punch him full him face.

"GAH!" He grabbed his nose as his head snapped back to look at her, already feeling the blood gushing from the point of contact. As soon as he made eye contact again, she got him, full in the jaw, causing him to spin a full 360 degrees. Then, he said to her in a sing-songy voice as he blacked out, "You got quite a right hook there."

###

Alan groaned as he lied down on his usual bench the next morning. Not even a psycho princess would keep him from his morning zone-out! Though, he definitely wasn't running on all cylinders. It was bad enough having to go see the Nurse at six in the morning, but what made it worse was that it was the grounds keeper who found him by the lake! They didn't buy his story of sleepwalking, but let it go. Just as he closed his eyes to try and get the throbbing to go away, a shadow fell over his face.
"Well? Are you going to lie around all day or are you gonna sit up and make me some room?"
Alan knew that voice. Sitting up a little too fast to make sure just induced more throbbing.
"Thank you." Kuni said as she sat down beside him and started to eat her breakfast.
Alan just stared at her for a couple of minutes. Girl logic or not, didn't repeatedly hitting someone generally mean dislike of said someone!?
Final he said, "What are you doing here?" Though because of his nose it sounded more like "Whu uh oo gooing ee-uh?"
"Why do you ask?" asked Kuni, not looking up from her breakfast.
"Oo gainda mudiated ee ast ite." (You kinda mutilated me last night.)
"I thought you said we were friends." She looked at him a genuinely smiled, for the first time.
"Oh." Silence continued for a little bit.
"Sorry about your face." She said, smiling apologetically.
"ayb ad urse." (I've had worse) he shrugged.
They had a good laugh at that.

She had made her first friend at duel academy. A bit quirky, but she liked him. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
Now she just had to take him down in a rematch...
