How old they appear: Eighteen, perhaps early twenties.
Eye Color: He lacks the pigmentation in the eyes. Or you could just say it's white.
Weight and height: 170 pounds, 5' 11" tall.
Type of body (build): Slim, fit.
Distinguishing mark or features: A big feature is his all white hair, eyes, and skin. He does have an etched mark in the shape of a cross on the outside of his left bicep.
Appearance:
Favorite color: Turquoise
Food: Pistachios, pizza, and rice.
Hobbies: Writing, researching religion, and medical experimentation.
Hates: Laziness, mocking a superior, merciless people, and disobedience to a direct order.
Habits: Fondles the cross he wears around his neck often, as well as fiddles with the hems of his shirts when nervous.
Greatest Strength: Love and kindness.
Greatest Weakness: Anything to do with the hollow that killed his sister causes him to cease anything he’s doing and track the lead.
Soft spot: Women, teenage girls especially. He respects women to the point of over-chivalry. Unless they interfere with his work, he does anything they say, whenever they say it... if it’s not too ridiculous.
Biggest Vulnerability: Making sure he's on time, as well as his chivalrous nature to an extent. His left leg also had an injury from his sister, so it gives out from time to time.
Background: He leaned on his knees, breathing with much gusto. A bead of clear sweat dripped off of his chin as a couple students chuckled next to him. The pressure was beginning to get to him, but he wouldn’t give up, he couldn’t, he wouldn’t let his sister down again. Right then and there he vowed to always meet his sister’s expectations, no matter the cost.
He lifted his hand again and gradually went from whispering to yelling just as the instructor was walking to the next student. “Ye lord, mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bares the name of man. Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south! Hadou number thirty-one, Shakkahou!!! A red ball approximately half the size of him erupted from his hand to the dummy, exploding both the dummies next to his own.
Needless to say, he passed.
After many years in which Niccoli aced every healing kidou, Hadou, and swordplay exams, he was finally accepted as a Shinigami in the Court Guard Squads. Specifically Squad Four. He was entering into the finest point of his life, but with the success, comes despair.
He was called to back his sister and another Soul Reaper up in a mission to the world of the living, an extremely elusive hollow had already taken three Shinigami out one by one, but with two members of Squad Four with her, and skilled ones at that, there should have been no problems.
“Hey sis?”
The sister sighed in the hard downpour out in the park, “What.”
“Are you... happy with me?”
“What?”
Niccoli scratched the back of his head, “Well, I mean, are you glad with my Squad?”
“Well, I can’t say I don’t like Squad Four, but they are kind of sissies.”
“So you think I’m a sissy?”
She shook her head quickly, a window behind her reflecting the back of her brown hair to Niccoli, “You kidding? You’re not one of the cleaners by a long shot. You might have a big heart, and have an amazing... oh, what’s the word...”
“Affinity?” He added.
“Yeah, that’s it. You have an incredible affinity for healing Kidou, but you fight like no one I’ve ever seen. And that's a compliment”
He hung his head in embarrassment, “But I could never be as good as you.”
“Oh shut up,” She placed her hand on his wet head, “if you think that you never will.”
During this mission, his sister’s mind became under the control of the hollow, and the second soul reaper was injured. Niccoli somehow managed to find his Bankai and injure the hollow, but his sister was a casualty.
From finding his bankai, he was hailed as a prodigy, but he kept on working as hard as he could per his sister’s request. He was recommended to become the Captain of Squad Four after the previous captain’s retirement.
His sister had cared for him after their parents had died to a powerful hollow. They were Shinigami, and their children had followed in their footsteps. Niccoli’s sibling was the only person keeping his belly full, and mouth in check. After she died, the other person to witness his bankai became his lieutenant, and his crutch one could say.
Most at ease when: With his squad, giving service, or healing the injured.
Most ill at ease when: Is unable to help, or is not in control.
Philosophies: "In the end, war isn't about who wins or who loses. It's about who dies and who lives." -Niccoli, age 214 after his Captain Coronation Ceremony. "The greatest mistake in the treatment of diseases is that there are physicians for the body and physicians for the soul, although the two cannot be separated.” -Plato
Past failure they would be embarrassed to admit: Not passing a low level Kidou exam for four tries in a row.
Drives and motives: To keep living for his sister and make what she wanted possible. To heal the sick and mend the wounded.
Extremely skilled at: Medicine, science, Shunpo, Senmaioroshi, Healing Kidou, and Hadou. .
Extremely unskilled at: Bodily endurance, and brutality.
Good characteristics: Compassion. His level of care is unmatched in the Court Guard Squads. It could even be a bit of a problem when he feels compassion for the enemy. Also chivalry, he respects women to a dangerous degree.
Character flaws: Isn’t afraid to experiment, which can be dangerous, and is late to just about everything. When he sets his mind to something, he won't leave it, but that could also be a positive characteristic.
Peculiarities: His Italian accent is almost unnoticeable, but if you know Italian, you can find it. Every now and then he’ll speak Italian to his lieutenant, but it’s rare, and only when the two are around.
There’s an unmistakable connection between him and religion, a strange trait among the Soul Society. To most, religion is a false hope given to the people in the land of the living, but to Niccoli, it’s a greater concept. Many Soul Society denizens think of him as a soothsayer because of this, but know better once he heals them.
Biggest regret: Not saving his sister from a hollow.
Biggest accomplishment: Achieving Captain status for squad 4, keeping to his sister's will, and finding his bankai.
Darkest secret: His sister used to be a shinigami, but was turned into a hollow by the great mind hollow Itsu. He found his bankai defeating his sister, and only his lieutenant was present at the time. The hollow is still at large.
How do they relate to others: He's an odd fellow compared to most captains. He knows most people’s pain of losing a loved one, but acts as though it’s not a big deal. He continues to help people despite the darkness he put behind him.
How are they perceived by strangers: He comes off as a pansy at first to the rough and tough, but after time people usually come to know him as the most compassionate person around, as well as a captain to be feared. They usually notice how he treats even his enemies with respect and kindness, something unseen usually. If he knows his enemies won’t stop attempting to harm people, he will stop at nothing to destroy them.
Friends: His only good friend is his lieutenant, but he tries to retain good relationships with his peers.
Wife/husband/lover: The only person he's ever felt any sort of relationship with is his lieutenant, but in his mind, it would never happen.
How do they react in a crisis: Collectively and in a calm manner, he would organize groups depending on the situation and plan out a strategy to combat the crisis before acting.
How do they face problems: Reading the actions of an individual allows one to know everything about said person. Niccoli is one to read and then make judgements rather than condemn off the bat. In a puzzle situation, he often sits and thinks about what he would do to solve the piece, then make a plan and go about solving it once he has all the pieces ready.
How they react to new problems: Via watching first, then once he has enough information, judge.
How they react to change: Positively. He desires evolution rather than stagnation.
What do they do too much of, why: He prays, a lot. During anything he's doing, he's probably going through a prayer in his mind by habit. He does this from his studies in religion, and once he tried it the first time, it became fun to him. Strange, no?
Most prized possession, why: The cross necklace. It was from his sister as a present when he passed his first shinigami exam.
People they secretly admire, why: He admires his predecessors to the squad 4 captain seat for having the will to help others. He also respects Shinigami that are posted in the world of the living for their kindess to the souls that have died there.
Person they are most influenced by, why: He was most influenced by his sister before she passed. She taught him the basics in healing, and kidou. She also trained him on the side in a style of swordplay unused in the current day. The sword and throwing knife style, Ken to tsue.
Zanpakuto name: Eien
Zanpakuto sealed Appearance: The hilt is wrapped with black leather with a bulb on the end covered in snakes running around it, and and ornate black cross as the hand guard. The blade is pure white with a carving of a snake running along both sides of the blade.
Shikai Appearance: The bulb on the hilt of the blade pops off and releases a small, thin dagger with the same carvings as its parent blade.
Shikai Release Command: Jikan no suimin!
Shikai Abilities: Speeds up the molecular regeneration of anything it touches after activation. For allies, it can heal a wound quickly, and for an enemy it may age a target for a finite amount of time, weakening them. He cannot use his own Shikai on himself, however. His blade also emanates time perception distortion, meaning Niccoli looks at though he’s approximately half a second behind where it actually is.
Bankai Appearance: Nothing changes for Niccoli, but the area around him slows or speeds up depending upon the situation. Such as: Leaves start to fall slower or faster around him, along with anybody trapped in the field. If slowed, Niccoli appears to his target to be moving extremely fast.
Bankai Release Command: Jikan no suimin no nakaniwa!
Bankai Abilities: Creates a temporal time distortion field in a small area him, causing his enemy’s perception of time to be slower or quicker.
Note: Just as a sidenote, Shun has agreed to play his lieutenant.
