Pack Summery

Built around the idea that territory is won by whoever has the strength to take it, Paws of Death is a pack that seeks to expand its borders by taking over unclaimed territory, as well as other packs' lands, by force. They 'force' other wolves to join their pack, treating them as slaves and prisoners until either their spirit is broken or they accept their lot in life and pledge their loyalty to the Alpha . Of course, the penalty for breaking that loyalty is a savage and cruel death sentence, so while driven to it in most cases, it's not a choice to be made lightly. As if other options are much better, once taken by the pack...

Pack Customs and Rituals

Rite of Passage (Heir)

This ritual is something the High Prince must partake. Its a quest in which he must show both his father and the pack that he is able to take control of the pack on day. This ritual is of several parts. First, he must leave the pack for several moons alone in the wild, here he must show his need of survival and increase his strength. Second, he must return with a pelt of one of his sworn enemies (this he will wear). Last their is a feast and celebration, often ends in the of killing a captured wolf or slave of the pack to show dominance.

Rite of Passage (Knighthood)

This is a ritual all guards/scouts must go through if they wish to become Knighted. In this quest you must show that you can lead a section of your pack in battle. You must show strategy in defeating your opponent, leadership skills and strength. Winning the battle doesn't prove that you will quire the Knight status. This quest will be overseen by a senior knight or lord/lady.

Rite of Passage (Shaman/Healer)

This is a ritual all guards/scouts must go through if they wish to become a Shaman/Healer. For a month you must fast and leave the pack's main den. During this time gone you may only use the land to survive and some how must find your communication with nature. New shamans are often overseen by a Senior Shaman when they return from their month of fasting for a few weeks to complete the ritual and see if the new shaman is able to perform everything which is needed for the pack to survive off of.

Dance of the Goddess

Since the pack does worship Lilith the Goddess of Fire wolves each year their is a festival to honor the Goddess. This festival lasts many nights and during this festival slaves are pitted against one another to fight to the death. Those who live are permitted to live another season those who do not are offered as sacrifices to the all powerful Goddess.

Ranks and Titles
Ranks are from Most important to Least Important.

King:
This is your alpha male and leader of this pack. His word triumphs all, disobey and death will follow by his paw.

Queen:
This your alpha female, she is second in command. She is mate to the alpha. Her word should be followed just as closely as your King's.

High Prince:
This is your heir, he is basically your third in command and will inherit the throne from his father when he passes.

Prince and Princesses:
These are all other offspring of the king, they normally become the head of a single class, such as Knights, Scouts, Hunters ect.

Lords and Ladies:
These are your betas of the pack, often in charge when the alphas are away. These are the wolves most trusted by the king and queen, they often will advise them in aspects. Also the Lord and Ladies also have the job of tutoring the Prince and Princesses. They usually head quests or expeditions the king puts out. They do not necessarily need to mate with one another but it is encouraged by your king. To become a Lord or Lady you must have already gone through Knighthood.

Knights
These are the warriors of the pack, often praised on their skills of killing. They are sent out when war is upon the pack. All Knights start out as Guards or Scouts. There is a ritual that a wolf must go through to become a Knight.

Shamans and Healers
These are normally the eldest of the pack, they are spiritual wolves, with their connection with nature they are able to use natural remedies to heal sick members of the pack. These are normally female as they also serve as midwives for pregnant members. There is a ritual that a wolf must go through to become a Shaman or Healer.

Guards and Scouts
These wolves are the protection of the pack. They protect the dens when needed and scout outside the pack for potential danger. They report to the Knights.

Hunters
These are those wolves who provide the food for the pack. These members are often called upon when the pack is short of troops.

Apprentices
This is the default rank of the pack. Normally when one joins the pack they are placed here until there worth has been determined. They are often trained by a member of a rank they wish to join. Pups of the pack are placed here as well

Slaves
This is the lowest rank of the pack. These are all captured wolves, normally from wars the pack has been involved in. (Mainly Lights) These wolves can never get out of this rank unless they escape the pack's clutches. They are usually owned/over seen by another member of the pack. Azarel will normally appoint their Owner. Their life is not their own.

Territory

The Main den is at a medium sized cave at the mouth of the river, near the southern boarder. A waterfall flows over the cave hiding its location from sight. To get to this cave there is a narrow rocky ledge which leads up to it, this ledge is only big enough so that one adult wolf is able to use it at a time. In a sense getting to the den itself is difficult, as is like its own natural fortress.

The most of the forest around this rich area is claimed by the pack, having small sub dens spread out to enforce their defenses. These Sub Dens are lead by the Princes and Princesses or Lords and Ladies.

This pack is open for applications, suggestions, and anything else you might want to add.
