In internet time this is pretty much already old news, but I got a good chuckle out of it and figured I'd post this here. A year ago, Michael Stahl, an "internet pastor" (however that works... he calls the internet the I-Net. Good lord.) created his proposal for an atheist registry, akin to the kind that we put sex offenders, terrorists, and hate groups on. He posted it to his Facebook page a couple of days ago for more feedback, and this time, it exploded across the internet... but not quite in the way he expected. Apparently the I-Net hurt his feelings, because he set his blog to private.

Here is a news article. This blog contains a lot more from the original entry. I think it's the full text. Feel free to correct me. xD

Definitely peek at the articles. Copy-pasting removed all of the hilarious over-formatting that the news article preserves, and I'm lazy.

Michael Stahl, Internet Preacher

“Now , many (especially the atheists ) , may ask “Why do this, what’s the purpose ?” Duhhh , Mr. Atheist , for the same purpose many States put the names and photos of convicted sex offenders and other ex-felons on the I-Net – to INFORM the public ! I mean , in the City of Miramar , Florida , where I live , the population is approx. 109,000 . My family and I would sure like to know how many of those 109,000 are ADMITTED atheists !

[...]

“Perhaps we may actually know some . In which case we could begin to witness to them and warn them of the dangers of atheism . Or perhaps they are radical atheists , whose hearts are as hard as Pharaoh’s , in that case , if they are business owners , we would encourage all our Christian friends , as well as the various churches and their congregations NOT to patronize them as we would only be ‘feeding’ Satan .”

He has since decided that the whole thing was a joke, like 90% of idiots on the internet do when they're up to their neck in dung from a shitstorm of their own creation. I'm sure all of us are quite convinced that he was ttly jk.

So, fellow ADMITTED atheists, I ask you:

General opinions? What if, for whatever reason, the government granted this man's wishes? How would you respond to the hypothetical barrage of busybodies trying to convert you? And seriously, what is with Christian wackos and hilarious abuse of text emphasis?

Personally, I'd be decorating the entry-way of my home with as much scary Satanic paraphernalia as I could find. ;D Maybe get a fog machine.

I think I'd lol to no end. Also, it would make it so much easier to find fellow atheists in my area and go out to coffee and s**t.

In the sense of having imbeciles trying to convert me all the time, I'd do my best to ignore them. Besides, would the government seriously send us census forms or whatever in which we state our non-religious affiliation? That would take up so much money it would not even be funny.

How would he go about gathering that kind of data? Oh...here's to irrational, nonsensical and impossible-to-carry-out ideas.

Lol... ADMITTED atheists. Only in Florida. What a clown.
