I'm curious about how people feel about Alchemy? Please participate in the poll and elaborate in this thread.
I really haven't had a chance to play with this feature. I was super excited at first, because it looked like it would be fun but, I feel that some of these just seem impossible to make! I mean, I was scouting around, looking in the marketplace for the ingredients and, they were either not available or so flippin' expensive that it would have been cheaper to just buy the desired rare item that you were trying to make.
Granted, I haven't tried since the initial launch. I know they have upgraded some things but, I'm a little leery.

I enjoy the concept but hate its execution.
Low level recipes should not call for 'rare' and non-replenishable items. The item resulting from a recipe should not be worth a significantly less amount than all the components required to make it. That defeats the whole point, IMO. Easy recipes should be easy to make and the level of the formula should dictate the item's difficulty and price. Gaia seems to have just thrown a jumble of combinations out and called it good.
I'm also glitched at level 3. The last 5 things I've crafted have given no experience.

I still don't get it. I'm a level one alchemist and I made a pie hard guitar, but otherwise I haven't found any use for it other than selling various items at inflated prices in the marketplace. gonk

Yeah, I'm wondering how long it will take with all of the current complaints (and all fairly similar in feeling as to our own input here) to either really make changes to it that matter or remove the feature all together.

It's a very cool and creative idea but I think they need to re-release many of the ingredients that aren't available anymore or flood the marketplace with them so that the cost of those super expensive ingredients drop waaaaaay down to be affordable for most gaians. In most cases with the alchemy thing, I've noticed it's usually cheaper to just buy the item you are trying to craft on the marketplace instead of buying the ingredients and making it yourself.

If you're doing a formula that's the same level as you are I think the odds of it not working are reeeeaaaalllllyyy low but if you try to do a formula that's a higher level than you it's a good chance it works. I don't know for sure but to my understanding, if the formula fails you lose the ingredients you used to try and make it? Haven't heard anything about that for sure though.
