Intro:
In a world where magic is plentiful, and mythical creatures are often sighted, there is where our story takes place. In the Kingdom of Larinia, in the bustling trading town of Faros which dwells near its borders with the Kingdom of Pren, five companions are called together by fate to traverse this magical land and fight the great evil which threatens it. This band of heroes are joined by one fateful event: The annihilation of Faros. They are among the few survivors who escaped the destruction. Their motivations to join the band are their own, but truly it was fate which had them all in Faros on that day.

Rules:
1: No God-Modding. Please. It just gets annoying. This rule also pertains to Mary-Sues. While I think almost everyone has some ‘sue-ish’ qualities, active attempts to avoid this would be nice.
2: Please adhere to ToS and Guild Rules. No cybering and keep any romance PG13 at the most.
3: The only god in this RP is me. I will be doing the time-skips, so do not start taking the RP off in a different direction from the group. As a ‘band’ it would help if everyone stuck together.
4: Please post at least once a week. If you are going to be gone and posting in that time frame is quite impossible, please PM me so you are not dropped from the RP or left behind. If you do not notify me and do not post within the week then I will assume you are no longer interested in the RP and will continue the story with or without your character.
5: If you are truly no longer interested in the RP then either PM me to take your character out, or remove your character in whatever (subtle) way you choose. Or you could just have them take a stray arrow to the back (or front, or side, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s fatal) or have them fall in battle. Death’s not subtle but it’s a surefire way of removing a character. The only problem is if you want to return to the RP with that character, unless they become a zombie or are raised by a necromancer it really is quite the impossibility . . . and zombies and necromantic beings tend to be viewed as monsters and killed so . . .
6: I understand writer’s block, I go through it often and even had it in writing this RP. I understand that it is contagious, but please attempt to write at least three lines worth of post. And no, writing a sentence and pressing the ‘enter’ key does not count as a line. Fill the WHOLE line. (I understand if you cannot follow this rule occasionally. I will also try very hard to follow this rule.)
7: When PMing your profiles to me (and please PM them. It makes the process so much neater) title the subject, “Fate or Coincidence?” and add a whee smiley somewhere in the PM to let me know you have read the rules.
8: The PG13 rating also applies to curse words. I understand that a character would need to vent every once in a while, but please try not to overdo it. If you can, try to avoid curse words altogether. See what you can come up with to express frustration besides, ‘s**t’, ‘********’, ect.
9: These rules are subject to change and may be added to if I think of anything else to add. Basically, try to be considerate of your fellow RPers and you should be fine.

More Info:
There will be four kingdoms which the heroes may be travelling to. They, of course, start in Larinia, which is the Westernmost Kingdom, and may or may not travel to Pren, which is to the South, Hensir, to the North, and/or Kwen which lies in the East. Various cities/towns/villages dwell within these kingdoms and you are welcome to name a few since I certainly can’t name all of them by myself. (Well I probably could, but then it’d take me much longer to write this RP.)
Aside from four kingdoms, there are also various races which live within these kingdoms. There are:
Elves – naturally most elves are highly adept with magic, but warrior elves are known to exist. However, warrior elves tend to lack the magic competency their non-warrior brethren have. All elves have enhanced senses and are better in tune with the natural world (which helps with healing). They also tend to have more agility.
Dwarves – good with metals and very high in stamina. You do not want to be in a 1 on 1, hand-to-hand duel with a dwarf. They will wear you down and can last several days longer than a normal man. Then, just to add insult to injury, they’ll go out drinking and not only hold their liquor well, but not even suffer a hangover. Of course, with weapons it’s a different story, and if you happen to know some magic . . . dwarves do not have a high resistance to magic.
Humans – A good, well rounded species and surprisingly adaptable. Humans have the greatest potential for growth and are very good at improvising weapons. They can become experts at what they choose to focus their training on.
Nymphs – Creatures of nature, these beings tend to have traits of the element from which they were born. However, because of this, they are only truly powerful with one element and that is as far as their magic can be expanded. However, they can not only be powerful with their elemental magic, but can also be decent with a weapon.
Beastlings – No one is really sure where these beings came from. Some say that the beastlings are an unnatural crossbreeding of one of the other races and an animal, and others say that it is a magical evolutionary process. Beastlings have great strength, but are utterly unable to do magic. They also have attributes of the certain type of beast they resemble. (For instance, a bird beastling has wings and can fly.) Even though they can’t do magic, they do have a natural resistance to it. Beastlings don’t tend to mingle with the other races, but there has been the odd exception or two.
And of course, there are the aforementioned zombies and necromantic creatures, but they come from these base five races. Of course, there can be mixes of these races but rules on how to mix these races will be explained later.
And then there are the jobs you can have. Also known as a ‘class’ on your character skeleton. The classes include:
Mage – A magic user. Most mages are elves or nymphs, some are humans, and very few are dwarves. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but most dwarves, being weak to magic in the first place, don’t tend to bother to learn it, especially if it can be rebounded onto them.
Warrior – A fighting based class. Most warriors are beastlings, humans, and dwarves. There are also a few elves and nymphs, but not many. Some warriors are for hire, some are in service to the king. Being a warrior is a very versatile class.
Blacksmith – A good, solid job. Blacksmiths can make swords, shoes for horses, and other useful things. Blacksmiths are also very good at improvising weapons and are just as strong as a warrior, even if they lack the fight training. Any race can be a blacksmith, though elves tend to avoid this job.
Scribe/Bard – Basically someone who records a story or event for future record. In a bard’s case they take the story and turn it into a ballad. Scribes and bards are extremely adept at listening and remembering information. They also are very talented at multitasking. Also, they tend to be hyper-aware of their surroundings. Many elves and nymphs take this job. It is almost unheard of for a dwarf or a beastling to be a scribe or a bard. It is especially unheard of for a beastling since most beastlings tend to be illiterate.
Farmer – Many humans and beastlings choose this job out of necessity. Farmers have high strength and stamina and are used to hard work. Farmers are much like the blacksmiths, though they don’t have quite the same level of strength, but they might be even more adaptable than the blacksmiths.
Thief – The lowest class. Often beastlings unwittingly fall into this class when among other races. Thieves can be of any race, however, and they do have their advantages. Thieves tend to be more agile than the other classes. They have a fair amount of strength, though in a one-on-one fight with a warrior, a thief would stand no chance. As such, thieves tend to earn scorn for being ‘cowards’ since most thieves flee from a fight where they are pitted against an enemy stronger than them. Like bards and scribes, thieves also tend to be hyper-aware since it could be the difference between escaping with loot or getting caught and killed. Thieves are handy with every type of weapon and even a few weak spells. (Though how many weapons and spells they can use are varied between individuals.)
Courtesy of CaptinADaWeirdOnes:
Hunter- Hunters are a mixture of a fighter a scavenger, and oftentimes a merchant. A great number of them make a living off of selling loot that they take from kills, whether that be the skins of animals or loot they took from people they were hired to take down. They are skilled with a number of weapons, but tend to stick to long-ranged weapons.
More classes can be added if you have a good idea for a class, but it must be approved by me first.
Spells: (The spells should be self-explanatory but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.)
Water - Smaller spells - Aqua blade, Icicle, Water shield Medium spells - Waterspout, Waterspire, Gyser Large spells - Deluge, Tsunami
Fire - Smaller spells - Fireball, Flame, Fire shield Medium spells - Flame wall, Lava field, Eruption Large spells - Meteor, Inferno

Characters:To make a character, please follow this layout: Name: (Your character's name) Age: (how old are they?) Race: (Choose from one of the five races.) Class: (What job do they have?) Image: (A picture would be best.) Abilities: (What sort of weapons you use or spells you have. If you are a Beastling you have no spells. Spells can be found from the 5 basic elements - fire, water, earth, air, and lightning. And then there are also healing spells which is outside the elements. Please choose one primary element if you are adept in magic and one secondary element. You can have up to 5 spells for your primary element (Don't make all of them too powerful), and 2 spells for your secondary element. (Healing may take the place of the secondary element.) Theives can have up to 5 weapons they can use and 2 small elemental spells. Warriors can also have up to 5 weapons, but they know no spells. Try to use common sense when making these abilities please.) Bio: (A background explaining where you come from and why or how you wound up in Faros. Please try to make it at least three lines, five would be perfered however. And remember that the character should be able to grow over the course of the RP.) Accepted Characters:chibi_blue_mouse Name: Nerissa Age: 24 Race: Halfling (Elf/Nymph) Class: Mage Image: Abilities: Water is my primary element as it obeys me easiest. My secondary element is air. The spells I can cast are aqua blade, icicle, deluge, water spire, fly, and air sheild. I am aglie, and my hearing is impeccable. I can also naturally breathe underwater. Bio: I am the child of an elf and a nymph. I have lived in Faros all my life. For the past ten years, I have been working as an apprentice to the head mage of this town. It also helps that my father is the head mage. I do not know who my mother is, only that she is a nymph, I got my capabilities over water, and my unusual coloring from her. I one day hope to become Faros's head mage like my father. jokester120 Name: Pellinore Age: 30 Race: Human Class: Warrior Image: Abilities: Long sword named Runefang, shield, and a dagger Bio: Pellinore never knew ether of his parents, His mother died at birth and his father was imprisoned for murder when he was young. With no parents he ran the streets as a beggar until he was taken in by a mean horse trader Galan, who turned out to be more thief than trader. The man called him Shad and beat him daily. He sent him running for anything he was too lazy to get for himself. A kind, caring soul by nature, Shad slowly turned inward over the years. He became quiet and brooding. The beatings continued but slowly he stopped crying out when struck, stopped flinching when a hand was raised. His face slowly grew more sullen, and his eyes darker. Over time, kind, caring qualities were hammered out by strap and fist. By the age of 23 Shad grew to hate Galan and quietly began to plot his demise. Shortly thereafter, Shad crept into his room with a long belt knife and a rope. The man was drunk as usual, and so was easily bound to the bed. Shad proceeded to butcher the man ruthlessly. He smiled to himself quietly while Galan screamed, not ever making a single sound. Finally he was free. The body was found and his act known that same night. In an effort to flee the town of Sidon, to the city of Faros once there he changed his name and joined the military and remained and hopes to till he can no longer lift his weapon, or his breath has left his body. CaptinADaWeirdOnes Name: Avril Age: 17 Race: Human Class: Hunter Image: Abilities: I'm a pretty good shot with a bow in my hand. I also have pretty good aim with throwing knives, but I try to avoid using them. Really, the only knife I make much use of is my skinnin' knife. Oh, and I mix up my own poisons to add to arrowheads if I wanna make sure they die fast. Other than that, I guess some abilities o' mine are that I'm pretty swift and agile. I may be small, but I've got mainly muscles on these bones o' mine. Bio: Well, I left home when I was 14 because... well, my family had just been growing apart and I didn't wanna be there when everything collapsed completely. I decided to become a hunter just two years ago when I met one on the way up north from where I used'ta live. She showed me the ropes and even trained me up a bit before we went our seperate ways. And hey, I may only be seventeen, but that doesn't mean I'm not a force'ta be reckoned with! I've taken out plenty of people who boasted 'bout being tougher than me! Of course, that was after they'd forgotten 'bout me and I took 'em out from behind... but still. If I can't take 'em out, I can always run(and I hate 'ta admit it, but I've had to do this plenty). I'm here in Faros to trade in some furs I skinned off'a some animals from my hunts. Lovely Lady Bri Name: Isildur (Isy on the streets) Age: 23 Race: Beastlings Class: Thief Image: Here I am Abilities: n/a magic; a set of daggers, bow and arrows, and a hunting long knife. She can create her own weapons if she can get the things she needs for it. Bio: Isy doesn't remember her childhood, though the man who raised her told her that she was abandoned on the streets of Faros. The man who raised her was a gentle man, and he taught her the art of thieving. He told her who he stole from, how he stole and why. Growing up under his tutorship, she learned her own sense of honor. She watched people, and unfortunately, because she was a beastling, it was hard for her to get near a lot of places that she could have before her traits started coming out. The antlers on her head gave her and the man who raised her the clue to her ability to notice danger around her and the quickness in which she can react and how quick she is on her feet. She is easily one of the more sneaky of the thieves in Faros, but her sense of honor is known among the thieves. You do not come to her with dirty business, as she can get rid of you just as quick as she can run. SoulofdeDragon Name: Jakobe Elektrino Race: Elf Class: Mage Image: Abilities: My primary element is Lightning. My spells are, Thunderstorm, Electric Field, Flash, Lightning, and Shock. My secondary power is healing. My powers are: Restore and Resurrection Bio: My house was struck by lightning when I was a child. I had lived out in the middle of nowhere, and everyone in my family died. I don't remember a lot about them, as I have tried to forget, but I do know that they always tried to keep me away from magic, saying that it was evil. But when the lightning surged through the building, I didn't notice a thing. All of my family members just started falling over around me, and I just sat there confused, thinking they would all get back up and say that it was a joke... They didn't. I guess I travel alone now.. Until i moved to Faros that is. Then everything changed..

Final Notes:
Mixed Races. Humans can mix with anything. You can have half-human, half whatever. Nymphs and Elves are pretty compatable as well. Elves and Beastlings aren't so compatable, but it's possible, though the kid would tend to have more of their Beastling heritage than their elven. A Nymph and Beastling pair has never created a child, so there will be no Nymph/Beastling halflings. There can be a character who is 1/4 Elf, 1/4 human, and 1/2 . . . let's say Dwarf. Obviously, one parent is a Dwarf, the other is a half-elf. This is how multiple races can be present inside one person. However, the character would have more Dwarvish characteristics considering that one parent was a full Dwarf, and the other was a mixed race.
The RP will not start until I say so. And I won't say so until I get AT LEAST 3 characters accepted. The RP will start on the day Faros is attacked in the few minutes before the attack happens.
Anything else I think of will likely be added here. Look out for updates.
UPDATE: 9/6/11 - A class has been added. Thanks to CaptainADaWierdOnes! ^-^

Starting!
Nerissa walked through the streets of Faros holding a piece of paper to her face. On the paper was the address of the bookstore. Her father had sent her out on an errand to see if the local bookstore had recieved any new spellbooks or, if there weren't any new spellbooks in the bookstore, then see if any travellers were willing to sell or trade any spellbooks they might have had. Nerissa glanced up quickly, looking around for the shop, hoping she was even in the right part of Faros. The town may have been small compared to some of the cities in Larinia, but Nerissa had been homeschooled all her life by her father and hadn't really ventured very far past her own house.
Which was why she was now out looking for the bookstore. Her father believed that if Nerissa was to become the head mage of Faros, she had to mingle with the townspeople and the traders and learn to interact with others. "To be sociable is just as important as mastering spells, Neri. You can't be efficiant as a head mage if you can't communicate with the people you're trying to help." he had told her as he handed her the bookstore's address.
Nerissa sighed. "I can't learn how to interact with people if I can't even find my way around either, Father." she murmured to herself, looking back to her paper and again looking up to see the surroundings. Another sigh escaped her lips as she battled with her pride. She didn't want to have to ask for help, but it didn't seem like she had much of a choice. Well, if she couldn't find the bookshop within the next five minutes, she'd ask the next person she saw.
((Okay, the attack won't happen yet, I just want everyone to start themselves either already in Faros or entering Faros and then I'll start the attack.))

Pellinore walked through the streets of Faros his armor glemmed in the sun light as his cape danced in the slight wind, his helmet was slung from his belt next to Runefang, he returned the few nods and waves he receved his but a nod of his shaved head, as he continued to walk through the slightly crowded streets before stopping to buy a small package from a shady vender before turning around and noticeing a girl that looked famillir somehow and more then alittle lost "where have I seen her before" he thought as he tucked the package into his bag behind him, "Exuse me miss are you lost" he said as he walked over to her.

Nerissa looked up at the man, pride wrestling with necessity coming across as a bit of a pout on her face. "I'm not lost!" she stated adamantly. She knew where she was . . .-ish. She knew how to get home at least. But she had no idea where the bookstore was. Nerissa swallowed her pride. "I just . . . can't find where I want to go." she said with a bit of a sigh before holding out the paper with the store's address to the soldier. She recognized the armour as that of Faros, so she figured he was a good enough person to ask as any for directions. "Could you tell me how to get there? I haven't exactly been out and about too much."

IʂɩɭɗυɾAll my life / And the hereafter / I've never seen / Seen one like you You're a knife / Sharp and deadly / And it's me / That you cut into She's a monster / Beautiful monster / Beautiful monster /But I don't mind And I need her / Said I need her / Beautiful monster / But I don't mindCovered from head to toe in a slate grey cloak, Isildur moved silently through the alleyways to her home. She'd been up all night, and was ready for sleep, though her body buzzed with adrenaline from the runaround she was given the night before. She wasn't exactly well known, as not many knew what she actually looked like, but she still had a name on the streets. Under the cloak, the young girl was much smaller than she seemed, the large covering over her head hiding the telltale signs of her breeding; a beastling. Nothing would detour her from her destination; her small home where the man who raised her, was lying sick in bed. She'd spent her night trying to get to the doctor who could give her the medicine she needed for Israel. She knew she could survive without him, and that by staying and caring for him, she jeopordize herself on the streets, but she couldn't abandon the man who had taken her in and gave her a life, no matter that she was nothing more than a thief. A small sigh escaped her and looking on all directions she slipped into the home of her only known guardian, Israel.
Moving to the bed, Isy quickly checked Israel's fever, worried. He was much ore still than she had hoped. As she removed her hand to go get the medicine out from within her cloak, Israel gripped her hand tightly. Turning she met his gaze and listened to his words, sitting down hard on the chair and listening intently. She nodded quietly and stayed with him, feeling his grip ease on her arm. Sitting still, she held his hand, quiet. She didn't have anything to say and Israel had gone back to sleep. In her eyes / There's love and fire / In my heart / She's burning through But I don't mind / In fact I like it / Though I'm terrified / I'm turned on but scared of you She's a monster / Beautiful monster / Beautiful monster /But I don't mind And I need her / Said I need her / Beautiful monster / But I don't mind |{let me know if i need to edit, kinda made something up on the fly, heh}|

(heres a picture of my Armor again sence its not working) Pellinore nodded as he looked at the slip of paper "I know where that place is it isn't far from here, and you must be in training as a mage correct?" he asked as he nodded down the street, "follow me Miss...." he said before trailing off because he still didn't know who she was. As he continued to feel like he knew her from somewhere but he continued to ignore it for the most part as he noticed all the people walking around them.

"Well, this's just great." The young girl plopped her feet lazily down onto a rock she'd set up as a makeshift footstool and leaned back into her chair. The man she normally did business with who owned an actual storefront wasn't in today, and so she'd taken to setting up a roadside trading post to sell her furs. Autumn was holding back its chilly winds, but Avril knew it would be soon enough that the weather would snap at everyone and turn cold fast. And that was the only hope she had to go on for getting anything sold today. It also helped that a good number of people walked the streets. Maybe she'd get noticed. Her apathetic green eyes watched people as they strolled by minding their business. No one was there for her to tend to, and so she took off her thick gloves and began absentmindedly braiding locks of her sandy blonde hair.

Nerissa nodded as the other asked if she was training as a mage before she blinked as the other trailed off. "Oh, my apologies. I am Nerissa, daughter of the head mage. A pleasure to make your aquaintance." she said with a small curtsy and a pleasant smile, trying her best to avoid hitting any of the other people who were walking around them. It felt nice, finally being able to put the manners she had learned into action. Once she had straightened, her smile remained. "Thank you for helping me." she added.

Pellinore returned Nerissa's small curtsy with a small bow "Pellinore, Captain of the 15th heavy calvery regament." he said as he returned to his full hight, "no worries it's always nice to help the daughter of such a respectable man, far more then myself of course" he added as he turned to face down the street "shall we get you to your book shop?" he asked with a smile

((Sorry guys i have been grounded. Actually I'm still grounded.. its hard to reach a computer none the less. I will try my hardest though! Sorry!)) Jakobe looked down the ally to assure that no one was following. He planned to get the supplies he needed and get out unnoticed. The last town he was in had been a little.. shocked, to see him (See what I did there? SHOCKED?). Considering that they drove him out with fire and pitchforks, he decided the silent approach to this one was a better idea. He strode around the corner of the ally only to bump into a girl selling furs. "Oh sorry! Didn't see you there. Well not that you aren't quite a sight to see, but with the corner- um yeah.. Sorry"
