The Story

Three miles long with room for over 20,000 people, enough firepower to put a nuclear bomb to shame, three medical wings, two fighter bays, and the most advanced engineering bay ever created by man. But in the end none of it mattered...

The EAS Pegasus was supposed to be Earth’s greatest creation, a beacon of life for an otherwise dying world. Its predecessor the EAS Terra had already reformed Mars’ atmosphere and built a colony there but the Pegasus was designed for something even greater: reforming Titan. All sorts of people were chosen for the crew, from servicemen to civilian contractors but not a single one of us was prepared for what would come. It had been two years of space travel before it happened. A large object hit the bridge and before we knew it the whole damn ship was crawling with these things. They’re like cats, only scaly and vicious as all hell. If that wasn't bad enough they take our dead and turn them into shambling, scaly husks. It only took them half a day to wipe out most of the crew and the rest of it to infest the entire ship except for a few select places.

The survivors have gathered at the armory but the servicemen aren’t exactly sure of the chances. In a few days people will start dropping of dehydration and any wounded will kick it even faster. The plan is to slowly retake portions of the ship starting with the mess hall. But that’s easier said than done what with all the crawlers around.

Crawlers

Crawlers are the nickname given to the life forms that have taken over the ship. Most appear feline in nature with various reptilian features such as scales, poisonous fangs and regenerating limbs. There are a few types of crawlers and in this section I’ll go over their strengths and weaknesses.

Kittens: The first reaction to these adorable little fuzz balls was to pick them up and cuddle them. This turned out to be a very fatal idea seeing as once a kitten makes contact with flesh it spreads an acid that eats skin. Kittens travel in large groups and tend to eat their fallen comrades when they aren’t trying to kill humans. The best way to deal with kittens is to keep yourself as covered as possible and use large blunt objects to beat them into tiny fuzzy pulp. Guns do work but kittens are only about seven inches tall and are fairly quick making them difficult targets. If someone gets the acid on their skin the treatment is either amputation or a chemical wash once the medical bay is clear. Luckily the acid cannot pierce clothing so as long as you remain covered the chance of exposure is lessened.

Hunters: Four foot tall scaly cats with poisonous fangs, the ability to regenerate lost limbs over time, and a running speed of thirty miles an hour. Get poisoned and you die within two days, without the medical bay we have no way to counter the poison. They also have a tendency to carry off our dead and wounded; generally it is a mercy to shoot the wounded in the head when this happens. To make matters worse they travel in packs of five and are intelligent enough to use small unit tactics. Always remember, a single hunter is not alone, It’s simply waiting for you to get close so its friends can kill you. Dealing with these bastards is not easy. Guns are a must and even then it takes a shot to the head to actually kill them. Shoot off the legs and they just keep coming, kill one and another is just around the corner, and if you run they will catch you. Hunters prowl the ship at all hours so avoiding them is nearly impossible. The best course of action is to alert everyone if you see one and then run behind the big men with guns, as for the gunners, good luck.

Zombies: Eventually we found out what the hunters did with the people they dragged off. After the first day our people started to come back as scaly zombies with a taste for humans and pig, our Flesh tastes similar apparently. Zombies are easy enough to kill, a bullet to the brain or a decapitation. It’s just dealing with the fact that they used to be people, that’s the hard part.

Survivor Types

Of the survivors only a select few are playable so that way we don’t end up having a bunch of people trying to be one thing.

Lieutenant (1/1)
The Lieutenant is the last CO remaining on the Pegasus. He is the leader of this group of survivors and keeps order as best he can.

Sergeant (0/1)
There have been several Sergeants over the course of the first two days but this one seems to have a knack for survival and has not died just yet. It is the Sergeant’s job to make sure the soldiers do their jobs and to generally help the Lieutenant whenever they can.

Soldiers (0/3)
There were three thousand soldiers at the start of the voyage, on day one of the attack that number went down to just a thousand. Lucky for you the Lieutenant led you to safety during the attack or found you after. It doesn't matter what opinion you had of him before, the Lieutenant is your leader now for better or worse.

Doctors (0/2)
Somehow you avoided being killed by the alien horde and ended up with the survivors. Out of everyone you will have seen the most of what the aliens are capable of and only god knows why it was you and not someone else who survived.

Engineers (0/3)
Out of the one thousand engineers aboard the ship there are now only a few of you left. All of your friends are either dead or missing and some you may have watched die. The only solace you can take is that the power to retake the ship lies in the hands of you engineers. Without you there’s no one who can restore the main systems.

Civilians (0/infinite)
If you haven't lost your mind yet chances are you probably will within a couple days. The soldiers have some grizzly stories but the Civilians got the worst of it. The security forces tried to keep you safe but ultimately failed resulting in the deaths of nearly everyone you knew. You got lucky and you know it, the one thing that stands between you and death is a couple of scared soldiers with guns. You probably should have taken some combat courses, however it's a little late for that now.

Profile Skeleton

Note: For those that don't know, delete my explanations then fill out the skeleton, I put those in because some people find it useful to know what the hell they should write in a given slot. Lord knows I do.

Weapons: This Role Play is about 200 years in the future so I'm going to take a risk and say the limit is your imagination. If you want a flamethrower that also launches grenades and serves tea, go right ahead. But keep a few things in mind. One, laser guns are channeled weapons, plasma guns can be fired like regular weapons of today only with plasma so it burns like hell upon contact. Two, if you have some super weapon be sure and say how you got it and make the reason a good one. I'll have none of this "I found a hand held nuke on the ground whilst walking around" nonsense. We are starting in an armory, so this shouldn't be a big issue.

Survivor Type: If you want to reserve a survivor type just send me a pm before sending your profile and I’ll mark you down.

Personality: It can be as blunt or as descriptive as necessary.

Appearance: A picture of your character, this is optional. If it is your avatar just say so, I'm not picky.

Description: A written description of your character. One might ask "why write a description of the character I have a picture and or avatar for?" Because I'm an evil sadistic RP nazi-demon that likes people to go into detail about their characters that's why.

History: This should be mostly about why you were recruited and your experience on the Pegasus before the attack. With that in mind feel free to talk about your time spent on Earth but it really isn't necessary seeing as the Pegasus is the main focus in this RP.

Rules

1. PM all profiles to me, I will approve all of them no matter what (for the sake of the beta) but I will ask you to change things if they don't jive with the story or if they make literally no sense. Though that will probably not be too big of an issue for people. Basically I'm on the lookout for people who want to try Role Playing as Cthulu. Not in this RP, not again, never again....

2. In this RP I will be moving the story along so my word is law.

3. If I am making a post that describes a situation on the ship I will post in this color.

4. This is first and foremost a survival RP, so deciding to leave the group is ill advised.

5. The amount of doctors and sergeants may be negotiated up if we get enough of the other survivor types.

6. Feel free to suggest any additional survivor types but I have a feeling I covered all the bases.

7. This RP will move in segments. It will start with a meet and greet period, then I’ll add in some combat, we’ll go on the move, then I’ll put in another social part, and so on.

8. When I approve the profile I will give you a place to start depending on what's going on with the story you'll either be with the group or in a part of the ship we're about to find.

Rules are subject to change and addition. I will alert people if this happens.

Because there isn't an ability to edit each individual post I'm making another thread for people to view their profiles.

Username: Lord Gemini
Character Name: Rainer Daniels
Age: 29
Gender: Male

Weapons: Rainer didn’t have time to grab much when everything went down, the only personal weapon he had was his custom plasma pistol. It was modified with a wide dispersal setting that uses a good portion of the plasma cartridge when fired. After finding the armory Rainer equipped himself with a few plasma grenades and a standard issue assault rifle.

Survivor Type: Lieutenant

Personality: Rainer was never what you’d call a people person. He was always a capable leader but his sarcastic nature was never popular with his men. In his personnel report it was stated that his disregard for rank made him impossible to promote. This was a kind euphemism for the fact that regardless of status Rainer had to tell people when they were wrong. Behind his temperament lies a man who was just afraid of letting people in. For those who could see beyond his facade Rainer was a good man, for those who couldn’t he was an arrogant a** with a loner complex.

Appearance: User Image

Description: Standing at 5’9” with a weight of 170 Rainer has a decidedly average build but like all servicemen his body has been trained to perfection. Numerous scars dot his body from earlier campaigns and his right eye has been replaced. That being said, out of vanity his face has been surgically augmented to look as though he had never sustained a single injury or blemish. Along with his long hair and icy blue eyes Rainer is a very good looking man with a history of debauchery.

His attire is a standard lieutenant uniform that has been modified to suit Rainer’s needs. He had the uniform embroidered with golden designs that go along his collar and cuffs. On the inside of the jacket are all the names of them men he’s ever lost not counting the recently dead. His shirt is made from an adaptive fiber that hardens into a light armor upon him touching a tag on the back. Although he wishes otherwise now, his pants and boots are completely ordinary though they do match perfectly with his black and gold attire. After the attack his shirt and jacket now have some claw marks on them around the torso with a few holes. When out of combat he keeps the jacket on and hugs it to him as if the dead on the inside need protecting.

History: Rainer was part of a very bloody conflict on Earth that became known as the Two Day Revolution. The Southern states of America got it in their heads that independence was a good idea and the Alliance disagreed. Rainer was one of many lieutenants that brought marine squadrons down on the rebels. The result was a horrible massacre with both sides losing countless men for a stupid reason. Rainer was given a commendation for killing one of the reel leaders at the cost of most of his men and then promoted to commander. He kept his position for all of a week before he was demoted back to lieutenant.

Shortly after he was offered a position on the Pegasus by an admiral who saw potential in the still young lieutenant. Rainer took the job informing the admiral that there would at least be one person on the ship who knew what the ******** they were doing. To a certain extent Rainer was right, within the first month he gained a reputation for poking his nose in where it didn’t belong and on the second he was thrown in the brig for tampering with the ship’s navigation. A few hours later he was taken out of the brig after the captain realized he’d caused them to avoid a moderate sized asteroid made of a material the ship’s computer didn’t recognize. In hindsight Rainer might be the reason the attack didn’t happen sooner. In the year that followed he made more friends than enemies causing him to end up in the brig at least three times. The year after people started getting used to his nature and actually listened to him occasionally.

When the attack happened Rainer was still recovering from a night of fierce debauchery with a couple of girls and a guy. He heard something breach the hull and the alarms went off saying the civilian sector had been hit. Immediately he started gathering up what civilians he could and started making for the closest medical wing. He was stopped by a pack of hunters that went right for the civilians. He tried gunning them down but he wasn’t fast enough. The hunters began plowing through civilians making them scatter, seeing no alternative Rainer shouted for people to follow him and ran down another corridor. He began gathering anyone he could find ordering them to ignore any threat that wasn’t immediate and follow him. By the time they reached the armory Rainer only had about fifty people left, all looking to him for leadership.
