Martin was intensely bored. He walked out of the door of the convenience store that now sufficed as his home, and on to the street. As the door opened, mist accumulated above his head, and formed a cloud. Fortunately for him, it was sunny today, so he didn't have to deal with any hail, snow, or god forbid another meteor shower. He walked down the street, and he tried to keep cool. He closed his eyes, thinking of the North Pole, with adorable little penguins waddling every which way. Unfortunately, it seemed that he had overdid it, because when he opened his eyes, the ground around him had frozen in a perfect 5 foot circle. He shivered, and shook his head. As he walked down the street, snow gathered where his feet had been, and just as quickly melted back into water because of the heat. Martin looked around once more, but sadly there was no crime to be seen. He simply continued on and walked into a donut shop. Still freezing, he ordered two glazed donuts and a coffee, and sat down. He looked outside, just wanting more than anything for something interesting to happen today.

Little did the boy know, he'd get his wish. As he sat, there were six armored, cloaked individuals gathered on the rooftop across from the doughnut shop.

"So, this kid's supposed to be able to change the weather... Doesn't look like he has much control, though," said Fade-One through his comms, using his HUD to track the boy. He looked to his men.

"Right, One. So, when're we gonna bust this kid out? I wanna see what he can do..." said one of them, and then another spoke up:

"Can it, Two. You know the Boss Man's policy on kids. Besides, why would you want to hurt a kid anyway?"

"I don't," Fade-Two replied. "I just want to see what this kid can do in a combat situation..."

"Stow it. We're tracking him until Sentinel gives us the word to move in." Fade-One replied to his men, and they fell silent.

* * *

Meanwhile, Martin was being tracked even more closely by a similarly-clad being, who was also cloaked... and standing in one corner of the doughnut shop, unnoticed by anyone.

Martin left the shop, and flung the bag which had held the donuts into the air. He turned the coffee upside-down, and opened the lid. Instead of falling out like a liquid, the frozen brown mass squeezed out slowly, hitting the ground and shattering like glass. As it always did, the cloud above his head came into being when he left the building. He walked down the street, and looked around for crime. Almost at once, he saw several large men punching a significantly smaller and more successful-looking man and yelling for his wallet. Martin backed away, deciding that this wasn't exactly his type of crime to fight. He climbed up a fire escape, in hopes of finding crime more suited to him. At the top of the building, he gazed all over for any damsel-in-distress to save, or damsel-out-of-distress, to steal from. Needless to say he didn't find anything, and was obviously disappointed. He sat down on the edge of the rooftop, and practiced making hailstorms. It may come in handy.

Rose walked down the street, utterly bored "nothing interesting happens anymore" she muttered out.
She walked to a nearby book shop and plopped down into a seat, taking advantage of the cooling system. She randomly grabbed a book by a nearby shelf and looked at the cover "hearts of the dead" it read, she laughed.

At the scene of the mugging Martin had ignored, a boy about his age or a little younger walked up the alley and stared the muggers down, obviously uncomfortable. Desparetely trying to think of something cool to say. "Hey... Cut it out," he muttered awkwardly, frowning at himself. Seriously? Cut it out, that's the best you can come up with? You just got finished writing a 6 page dissertation on the metaphysical effects of a black hole's surrounding graviton fields, a phenomenon that was only observed in detail a few months ago, and the best you can think of here is 'cut it out?' ... Brain, you are a total douche. He thought rapidly to himself, completely blanking out as the muggers responded with an ever-so-brainless comment. But then they turned on him and looked ready to fight. Slightly panicked, the child extended his hands; immediately, the muggers flew down the alleyway with enough speed that the impact against the opposing wall more than likely caused all of them to be knocked unconscious or render them immobile or incapable of attack. Giving a shrill, relieved victory laugh, he grinned to his own good fortune and slid off. What the hell was he thinking? What if someone had seen?! He'd been trying to keep it a secret for a while now, almost a month he'd kept it under wraps... But this was his first solo-save. Before then, he'd never actually taken on anyone without help, which meant he'd practically never fought before. So this victory was a major accomplishment, even if the man he'd saved didn't look to thrilled about the whole situation. Isaac hurried off before the man could get a good look at him, ducking into the next alley and canceling gravity around him, allowing him to scale the wall quickly and be on the roof.

Martin saw, in the corner of his eye, a silhouette, which seemed to be climbing the outside of a building across the street. He shielded his eyes, as to see the being better. It seemed to be a young person, a bit smaller than himself. It appeared to be male, but he wasn't sure. Martin knew he had to follow him. He smiled at the thought of what he'd do, as Martin had wanted to do this for quite some time. It'd be the biggest, most out-of-the-ordinary storm he'd ever made. He closed his eyes, and scoured the deepest regions of his mind and soul, bringing out the image of what, exactly, a snowstorm was. With his blood curdling and growing cold, he pictured a large mound of snow, going across the street and separating him from the young man on the other side. When he opened his eyes, what he saw was a minor disappointment. It was a large mound indeed, but didn't create a bridge across the street. Rather, it covered a rooftop on the other side, a few buildings down. But that wasn't the most peculiar part. Martin saw a few bits of snow, floating. They covered about four or five figures, showing the top of the head, and the shoulders. Martin's eyes popped as he saw this, because he realized what it meant.

They were watching him.

"s**t." said Fade-One. "Sentinel, the kid pulled a Mr. Frosty and we're compromised, over."

"Just move away. Get the snow off, guys." Sentinel replied in his private comm as he slowly exited the shop and slipped into an alley to watch the two boys. His HUD showed him that Fade-1 was moving away, which was good. With any luck, he'd act like a boy his age and forget about them, think they were a trick of the brain.

"What in the world..." Isaac wasn't a pro on freak weather phenomena, but he knew enough to say flat out that this was caused by an outside source. A quick examination once he reached the rooftops revealed two interesting things; a boy wih what appeared to be a cloud floating over his head- no doubt he was the source of the odd weather. But perhaps more interesting were the patches of floating snow a rooftop or two away; that wasn't a gravitational phenomena. Something was physically blocking the snow. Something, or someone, was standing right there. A few someones, as it were. They couldn't be here for Isaac; he'd been on the DL for the two weeks he'd had his power so far, which obviously meant that unless they had some sort of freak-detector, he was in the clear. However, that meant they were after this other kid... And he didn't know anything about the kid, but he did know how slim the boy's chances were against the figures in the snow, no matter what they happened to be. And they didn't look good. He made a quick waving motion in the kid's direction, indicating he was trying to help, while simultaneously trying to dissuade the fears that this would plunge him neck-deep in a world he didn't desire to be a part of. He'd help this kid, just this once. And then go home, pretend nothing ever happened, and live happily ever after with a freaky secret. "Sounds like a plan to me," he muttered quietly to himself, waiting to see what the other boy would do from his rooftop perch.

Martin looked over to the kid making the motions. He nodded, and began to climb down the fire escape. He ran over to the other side, but not to the building with the other kid. He was running to the invisible people on the snow-capped roof. He slammed through the front door, running at top speed until he reached the winter wonderland on top of the building. Although it was hard to tell, he could see that the figures were gone. He trudged over the snow, mumbling curses.
"Whoever you invisible people are," Martin said as he looked off the edge of the building, "I'll find you."

"Did you guys hear that?" asked Fade-Six over the group's private comms, "The kid thinks he'll find us. All we gotta do is enter a building and he'll never be able to find us!"

"Whatever, Six," Fade-One said as he led the group away. "Sentinel, we'll handle Weatherboy. You get the other kid."

"Got it, One," Sentinel said, leaping onto the top of the building Isaac was on, cat-like in his movements.

As acrobatic as he may have been, hiding the sound of a presumably 180 lbs or heavier mass landing on a concrete surface, whether covered in gravel or not, would be feasibly impossible. The noise was certainly less noticeable than if another person, similarly-sized, would have tried it; however, it was enough for Isaac to pick up on it, and turn sharply in the general direction. He was ready- at a moment's notice, the gravity in a ten foot radius would shut off- if the guy tried to attack him, he'd be totally caught off- guard. And Isaac could do his thing. "So, here's hoping all you want is a pleasant chat," Isaac muttered sarcastically, keeping his eyes open; he knew what to look for in most cloaking technology. Didn't mean he'd see the guy til he moved, but as soon as he did Isaac would know. "Who are you? And what do you want?"

Epic Irony

((If a human in armor that makes them weigh 1000 pounds can land without making any noise (i.e. a Spartan from Halo, as that happened in one of the Halo books), then so can Sentinel. Just... throwin' that out there.))

((Lolwhut? I don't remember that... Of course, it might have been one of the ones I never read. Lol I was just going based off how I figured it'd work- of course, if in this Halo story, that particular event didn't happen on Earth, then gravity might play a part in it... But all I'm saying is, if you drop a guy on a roof, even if he's being as stealthy as possible, there's gonna be some nois. Not necessarily even thudding or the like- scraping agains the cement and loose pebble-grains or whatever... I was just trying to keep the story moving. If you want me to edit, I can think of something real quick... But probably wait until tomorrow. Lol ))
