Moonfire padded into her leader's den and sat, waiting for Shadowstar to speak.

Shadowstar meowed, "You are deputy, and as you know, I lost two lives in the battle earlier... I am on my last life, a life I plan to last very long, for I do not want to leave my Can and join StarClan. Are you ready for leadership? You must know that you will make decisions, ones that affect the whole Clan."

Moonfire paused, and gathered her thoughts. "Yes, I believe I am. I want to be leader, but I am not overly eager. I think I can be greater than most leaders, though probably not like you. Yes, I understand I will have to make hard desciions, but I've had to do that already. When Strongheart died, there were SO many things that were confusing or hard, I almost couldn't cope. But I did."

Shadowstar sighed and nodded. "I also must ask, who will you name deputy? I want my Clan to be left in good paws, and power hungry cats will not do. I know my Clan like I know my own whiskers. Also, its time your kits were made Warriors."

Moonfire looked thoughtful. "I think Whitetree would be a good deputy. And, yes, I think so. They're eleven moons, and exceptional hunters and fighters."

I'll call the meeting once Blackpaw's patrol gets back. That should be soon, too, if they haven't met any trouble. Also, Sparrowpaw needs to be made a Warrior, he is 12 moons." Shadowstar meowed.

Moonfire nodded. "I'll go get Firepaw." She jumped up and raced out of the fden with obvious excitement, completely forgetting her leader may not have been finished talking to her.

Shadowstar opened her jaws one more time, but Moonfire had raced out of the den. Shadowstar sighed and walked out after her.

Leafkit scuttled around Moonstar's den like a beetle, dragging old bedding to the entrance before spreading the moss she had taken from the medicine den when Brambleberry had gone out to get fresh herbs. Hoping Moonstar would get back soon, Leafkit kicked all the old moss from the den and ran to the freshkill pile and grabbed a still-warm rabbit and hurried back to the den, placing the rabbit on top on the new bed before scurrying out of the den to clean up the old moss.

Larry sat down with a bump and started to clean his paws, which were blood-stained and sore.

"What?" Larry gasped, caught unaware, in mid lick. He quickly closed his mouth and meowed, "Uhm, n-Yes, I want to join ThunderClan." He meowed.
