Through the emptiness of space, past the ancient burning stars, through primordial fields of asteroids, only the bravest of the brave may tread. Outside of the Astral Shipping Paths, the pirates of the worlds hunt, sleeking through the dangerous areas of space like hunting beasts in their dark painted ships and illegal cloaking shields. They seek out the treasures of others, the food, the drink, the money...the women. All but one ship, who hunts....

For Paradise.

They do not know they hunt for Paradise, for the very entrance to a heavenly world that would make their dreams come true. The crew of this elite pirate ship have been lied to by the very one that they trusted to lead them to riches and glory, women and wine. The captain, known only as Rosso Fantasma, has told them she can make their dreams come true.

But her dreams have always come first.

Who are the members of her crew, and what worlds do they visit? Do they find treasure, infamy? Or will they find out their captains secret and form a mutiny? Do they simply agree that this Paradise is worth finding and join her quest willingly?

You decide.

“Alright you scum! Haul arse back to the ship , take what you can carry!”

Rosso Fantasma’, Captain of the legendary ship known as the Sangue Nave, stood on a table over looking the room with all the captives---crew, passengers, and even a stowaway---bound like suckling pigs for her amusement. The captain was what was known among the common folk as a Maelstrom Howler, the canine peoples of the Maelstrom Galaxy, where the word ‘wild’ doesn’t even begin to cover their way of life. She was pretty, and surprisingly young to be a captain of such an infamous crew of cut-throats and bandits. A shoulder-length mane of wild, cream colored hair topped her chocolate colored flesh, large diamond-shaped dog ears flicking at every sound made. Her eyes, a deep, hungry gold color that seemed to pierce through the very essence of one’s soul, glared down at her hapless prey. Her hands, from wrist to finger tips, faded into a creamy color similar to her hair, fingers tipped with sharp black claws. The same coloration repeated itself along her abdomen, like a dog’s belly. A tail as long as she was tall, and covered in extremely thick, soft fur flickered behind her, whilst powerfully muscled legs balanced her easily on the slightly shaking table of the ship. Her legs, from the knee down, were covered in dark orange-red fur, shaped like the legs of a dog, three toes flexing against the table, digging sharp claws into the wood. The back of the legs had a length of creamy fur spiking out from it. She was tall, even for one of her kind, a little over six feet tall, every inch of her showing the signs of a warrior---tight muscles, scars crisscrossing her knuckles, arms and shoulders, rough, calloused hands. She wore little more than a pale-cream tank top, red fighter’s shorts with gold hems and two black belts around her waist in an X-shape, hanging off her hips.

She watched in delight as her crew hauled away all the valuables from the Cruise Liner Deluxe, a huge ship meant for the rich and famous to enjoy their travels in space. And provide ample targets for the pirates of the Trade-Ways. Despite her youth, the fierce eyed captain knew exactly what she was doing. Having ordered her LCF flyers to destroy the laser turrets mounted atop the ship, having the Sangue Nave batter the rear end of the cruiser to destroy the engines, and having navigated the docking portal herself, the attack had been smooth as Lunarian Silk.
“Listen up, my pathetic little pets…” she said, as she hopped off the table with ease grace, padding among the captives, pausing to give one of the security moron’s a kick to the ribs. “I got a little bored, waiting for you idiots to find the guts to try and fight back, so I did a bit of tinkering with your navigation system. Its going to navigate you right into the nearest sun.” She paused, allowing them to register the horror of what she’d said. “I’ve changed the password, but, don’t worry. You can figure it out, I’m sure. Once we leave, feel free to run around, screaming like Maruil Racers with your head cut off.” she laughed, a deep throaty sound that was very bark-like. With that little tidbit of cruelty, the she-pirate trotted after the last of her crew to board the Sangue Nave, and hit the portal door behind her. It snapped shut, and the walk way retracted behind her as she moved, clamping shut just as her tail slipped out the door.
She was greeted by her one true friend on the ship, Solario.

Solario smiled up at her, short for a male. He was only about five foot five inches tall and very effeminate looking. Burnished bronze colored hair fell around his delicately featured face, soft red eyes peering up through thick lashes, with a small, playful smile on his lips. The Dae Ophidian, a race of human-type beings with lilac colored skin, wore his usual monk-like garb. It was topped by a band of gold around his head with small spikes jutting from it, two red lengths of silk dangling past his shoulders. His shirt was made of fine silk, bronze mosty, with gold hems, and sash around his middle. He wore soft leather arm guards with gold edging, and fingerless black gloves on his hands. His skirt was a slightly darker bronze than his shirt, and had a second sash tied about it, a dark orange-gold that faded into yellow. He wore black leggings that went from his heels, up to mid-thigh, and sandals on his feet.
Halsningar, Captain Rosso.” he said softly, his voice high and sweet, perfect for singing. He cocked his head up at her, watching as she moved around him, very likely heading for the control deck. “The haul was good, yes?”

“It was.” she answered shortly, never one for idle conversation.

“Did you set the ship to take them into the nearest inhabited system and lie to them again?” he continued, hands behind his back.

She grinned wickedly, sharp canines flashing. “I did. One man started crying.”

Solario chuckled softy, shaking his head. “You are a wicked one, captain.” he commented as they made their way into the control room. She sat in her chair, pulling up the Holo-Touch screen with a tap of the small red button on the right arm of her chair. He leaned against the back of said chair, watching idly whilst she executed a few simple commands, which caused the ship to fire up its engines and back away from the badly damaged Cruise Liner, before slowly turning and jetting off into the darkness of space.

“Where to next, Captain?” he wondered. She only stared down at her Holo-Touch and flicked her ears dismissively. He sighed and pouted a bit, but he turned and left the control room, knowing the captain was a secretive, enigmatic creature and wouldn’t be to open, even with her friends. He wondered what the other crew members were doing after the successful raid and decided to go for a little visit.

Athear was unlike anything seen in this quadrant of the galaxy. He stood nearly seven feet tall, and his humanoid-reptilian form was covered with large tarnished silver scales that covered nearly his entire frame except his chest, the front of the chest and his palms. Where the scales didn't cover his form there was leathery black hide. Large protruding wings adorned his back at the shoulder blades, and a large scaly tail extending from the back of his spine. His left arm and left wing were gone, an old wound from his past life. In their place was a symbiotic bio metal prosthetics that fed off his natural energy. The metal was only a few shades lighter than his scales. His attire consisted of black woven allows pants with three purple cloth tassets running down both legs and covering his front. Over the pants was a pair of shin guards that went from the knees to the top of the foot. On his right hip was his weapon of choice. A large battle axe with a plasma charged double blade.

Athear sighed heavily as he watched the crew in the cargo bay sort through today's haul. His strong muscled form was leaning agains one of the walls as his slitted purple eyes watched the crew sharply. While he knew that most of the crew were too scared to double cross the captain, as the saying goes, "There's no honor among thieves." At the request of the captain he had helped the crew pillage the cargo hold of the cruise line, his Draxian strength used to bring in the bigger loads. However, now it was the job of lesser crew men to open the metal crates and take inventory of what was found. Absently, Athear was taking note of what was being unloaded from the crates. It was interesting to see what would be in the supply crates that catered to the fabulously wealthy. So far it has been nothing but food supplies, expensive and very decadent food. Althear smirked slightly at seeing the amount food. It seems his feast tonight would be especially delicious. Growing bored of the crew opening crate after crate he walked out of the cargo bay, his sharp talon like toes tapping lightly against the metal floor.

The sound of snoring echoed from the medical bay. When she had first joined the Sangue Nave, she had inform the captain, Rose something, Val thought the name was, she wasn't one to remember names, being as anti-social as she was. What she did remember was that she was that when she joined she said that she didn't need her own quarters. She liked the medical bay. She did get a room later, she finally realized that keeping her stuff, including her dirty laundry, in the medical bay would make the room not only dirty, but her clothes would also carry illnesses she was working on curing. But her owning a room didn't mean that she would sleep there. She liked sleeping in the peaceful, sterile environment of the med bay felt nice to her, plus, almost nobody came in here. The crew was smart. They took their shots and in battles, if anyone was injured, they would probably by killed before another got her here. She didn't come on the simple raiding missions either. She was too 'delicate' for that.

Unlike most members of the crew, Valene was almost human. Almost, since she was in fact, an Augustine. Augustine were physically human, a strange thing since they didn't share any ancestors. But, it was most likely that they had similar environment. Whatever the cause was, there were some difference. The Augustines didn't share their violent doppelgängers violent nature, instead, they were healers. All of them. They were healers for hire, mostly. Joining crews, never pirate crews though, working as doctors. It was a strange type of ethic, the ones that allowed them to take money, yet not commit crimes. And joining a pirate crew was a crime, making Val a traitor to her race. Putting her fingers to her face, the girl now awake girl scowled. She hated the marks on her cheeks, one she could never get rid of. The traitor's marks. They would keep her away from home forever. Heck, they even annulled her medical licence for it. That was the main reason the girl joined this crew. She was too old to be a pirate, for her people's standards. She wasn't as fast as she used to be and her back ached too often for her likings. But only a pirate crew would hire a disgraced doctor. A talented doctor, but a disgraced one, none the less. Well at least she had a place that would feed her and cloth her.

Rosso Fantasma stared past the Holo-Touch at the screen which showed the ships bow and the space beyond. It was, in her opinion, one of the best sights one could ever see. She had no interest in treasure--not as much as the other pirates, anyway. She led the crew because she'd killed for it and earned it. She was good at what she did and enjoyed every thrilling moment of the hunting and chasing. The crew could have the spoils for all she cared.

All she wanted...

"Is a nigh impossible dream..." she whispered aloud, to the empty room around her. With a grunt, she checked their coordinates and did some readjusting to them, setting them on a course that would send them into the next quadrant of space, the Milakir Zone. Once that was done, she stood and left, her paws silent agaisnt the steel floors of the ship, her thick tail swaying slowly behind her, sharp ears catching the sounds of celebration further off down the way. It was then that she caught sight of Athear, one of the newer members of her crew. A huge, powerful fellow, she had easily faced him without fear, without even flinching and told him---upon his joining--in no uncertain terms, that if he caused trouble, she'd kill him. Just like she told everybody that came aboard. Even the humanoid doctor of theirs.
"Did all the supplies get onboard safely?" she asked as she approached, her voice rough, but decidedly female. She paused in the middle of the hall, unconciously display very dominant behavior, and keeping him from going past her. Not that she thought he'd try. He played the good soldier in the few short months that he'd been with her.

-------------------------------

Solario, bored and fairly useless on the loading deck, wandered the ship. He wasn't big or strong enough to be of use unloading the big crates, and, well, he tended to be very clumsy. He was usually ushered out rather quickly even he even started to ask 'Can I help?'. It was with this in mind that he stayed away from the loading dock and, instead, made his way towards the Medical Bay. The Augistine there was interesting and while they both could treat people, they had very different methods in doing so. He, for instance, preferred herbal remedies to illnesses, whereas she was trained more conventionally.
He wasn't considered a doctor...
But the Captain seemed to prefer his methods of the shots offered by the doctor of their ship. He pushed the button on the wall to open the door and peered in, his pinkish skin fairly light in the dimly lit room. It could actually glow in pitch blackness. The Dae Ophidian's had a ten month night cycle in which all natural light was gone. Glowing skin was an adaptation, an evolution meant to help the weak night-visioned beings to survive. Now they had unnatural lights to help them out.
"Hello, Valene." he called softly, leaning against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest. "Did you just wake up or something?" he chortled.

Have you ever been in a situation where there was someone with the same talents as you, that you worked your a** off to obtain? Well, it's very likely that you might form a rivalry with said person, whether it was mutual or one sided. And Val was, after all, not that strange of a person. So she followed these guidelines of human nature to a tee. Her whole life, she didn't have the healer's talent like most of her people so she had to bust her a** through all of her schooling. True , she got a best grades in her school, but that wasn't hard since she was the only one there who wasn't mentally handicapped. Still, she had to work hard and in her view, this guy had an easy life. Plus, he used 'herbal remedies', which in her opinion, was a load of crap that only the weird new age people believed in. There was a reason why actual doctors used medicine instead of herbs! She bet that someday, when the whole crew got sick, the captain would finally turn to her more conventional form of medicine when she saw that her friend's stuff didn't work at all. Yes, that would be a great day for her.

"Hello Solario," Val replied, resisting the over powering urge to crinkle her nose in disgust at this boy being in the medical bay. He had no right to be here! It wasn't like he was a real doctor. And then he had to go, and in her opinion, call her lazy. Well, she hadn't assisted in the raid at all, but hey, that was not in her job description. The captain should never forget that a crew who insulted their doctor or cook was as good as dead. She could easily put poison in the crew's next check up. So the captain and mister glowy over there would be fine, but with most of the crew dead, they would probably get sucked into a black hole. She'd die too, but she didn't exactly care. Grabbing for the closest blunt object to throw at him, her most well known habit, she decided to answer his question. "I did just wake up, but that's because I was up all night studying the virus brought back from the last raiding mission. Without your help, I may add."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:26 pm

Solario chuckled softly at her reaction to his words, flitting away from the object thrown whilst laughing aloud. "Oh, my, not in a good mood today, are we?" he smirked, red eyes flashing in amusement. He found the Augistine quite funny, to be honest. Modern medicine, while useful, wasn't always reliable. For instance, if they crash landed on a planet without any tech, but the ships botonist recognized the plants? Easy medical supplies. They both had their uses, in his opinion, but she seemed not to like him very much, if only for the simple reason he was, what he called, a herbologist.

"Tsk, tsk~ You really should get some more sleep. That little bug can wait. No one is dying of it." he chortled, wagging a finger at her in a reprimanding manner, his eyes gleaming with humor. "You work far to hard, Valene."

He tucked his thumbs into the sash about his slender waist, cocking his head as he studied the humanoid. She looked more like one than he did, with her more conventional skin-tones and eye coloring. He looked like a crayola crayon had melted over him at some point. Ah, but one could not help the differences in races and species. It was just the way they were. He smiled patiently, ever the calm one in most situations. His trademark amused smile curling on his lips as he waited for the doctor's response.

Hey! Hey! She hadn't thrown anything yet. She was just trying to find the perfect thing to throw. While Val was well known for throwing things at people who came into the medical bay for no reason or 'just to chat', she rarely threw things. she normally just threatened to throw things. After all, the best way to use force was to make someone realize you could kill them and make them grovel on the ground, covered in snot and tears, begging for you not to kill them. Instead of throwing things, Val's face just started to darken more and more as he began talking. The bug could not wait! Didn't he know how hard it was to keep the virus alive ad yet not allow it to spread? She had to work on it fast so that she could start working on a cure. Heck, maybe the cure to this would get he medical licence back, not like she would tell anyone that she cared whether she had a licence or not.

"For your information," she said, standing, though she wasn't exactly tall. "I am in a perfectly normal mood today. What does my mood have to do with anything anyway? I just don't like to me interrupted to idle chit chat." This was kind of ironic because she had a very long speech planned to explain everything to him. "and on the subject of the virus, yes, I do need to work on it right away. You herbal remedy people doesn't seem to understand the importance of research like scientific doctors. First off, keeping viruses alive in hard. They can starve, like plants and animals, which you should know of you do any type of healing at all. And to feed them, they need fresh cells. If I were to feed them, I would have to risk exposure. Even quarantining the medical bay wouldn't be enough to stop this virus from spreading, considering that I need to eat and I would be carrying the virus. Secondly, I had to do the research before the things starved. And finally, I work the perfect amount, in fact, I might work too little, still, I work more then most members of the crew." As much as she wanted to end the sentence with 'so eat that', she had too much pride to do so.

Athear OrnVignar

Athear was like many Draxians. He enjoyed the simple things in life: Good food, training, fighting, killing, slaying, conquering, and drinking. Or at the very least the simple things of a Draxian life. However in the Draxian army, life was all about respect. You became respected by serving the Maekrix, by being stronger than those that oppose you, by taking victory out of your enemy's clutches and crushing them soundly. Looking down his purple slitted eyes gazed upon the one person on this ship that had earned his respect, Rosso Fantasma, his Captain. He had joined her crew on nothing but a whim. He had traveled far and wide in his eighty years of being away from his home. He had gone through nothing but legal means to travel the stars, and he had nothing to show for it, except knowledge and experience of navigating this galaxy. He knew that his experience would be invaluable to any crew looking to transverse between planets. When he joined, Rosso looked up at him with no fear, no weakness in her eyes, and promised to end his life should he cause trouble. The Draxian was surprise that the smaller woman was threatening him with such overwhelming conviction. His surprise turned into amusement, his amusement turned into humor, and his humor became a loud barking laughter that carried on for a good couple of minutes. As his laughter died down he looked down at the captain with a fang filled smirk and told her, "I understand, Captain. I shall follow your word as if was my own creed." Giving her the standard Draxian salute. Over the last couple of months his respect for her grew as she continuously proved not only her strength but also her cunning. Now he finds himself in a similar position as his captain stood before him the same way she did all those months ago.

"Aye, they did captain. Forty-nine standard cargo crates and one high security crate were listed as to have come abord. The crew are taking inventory as we speak. From what I've observed and read on the reports, eight crates contained medicine, high grade too. One of the crates had a contained virus. The virus was taken to Dr. Valene for further study. Twenty-two crates contained large amounts of exotic food and drinks, that should last us at least another month and a half if the chefs don't let it spoil. The crew is currently working on the other nine-teen standard crates and the one secured crate. They have their orders to contact you once they hack through the locks." He says in a official manner as he gave his report. His deep gruff voice rumbling in the ships hallway. "Is there anything else you need, Captain?"
