❉ YOUNG GIRL

User Image

Name: Trish Cortez
Color: #D40000 - Rosso Corsa
Age: 17
Nationality: American (Spanish Heritage)
Home/Financial Status: Lynn District/Lower Class
School: Drop Out (attended Teufel Town High School)

Personality:
Crude, crass, sarcastic, and a tomboy through and through, Trish Cortez has a personality that was shaped by time on the streets of Teufel Town and certainly makes her one you would not want to take home to mama.

Even as a child, Trish has always been a girl more inclined to skin her knees and roll around in mud than play with dolls or an Easy Bake Oven. This suited her just fine, as Trish is happiest being the rough and tumble tomboy who's crass and has a mouth that would make a sailor blush. She enjoys being 'one of the boys' and it definitely shows in her demeanor and her behavior around others.

As far as this goes, Trish does have a mouth on her and not just for swears. Opinionated, bold, and downright boorish, the girl is not afraid to speak her mind and will not hold back when she does, even at the expense of others feelings. She's definitely not the emotional, 'come here and cry on my shoulder' type, more likely to say a sharp 'build a bridge and get over it' than coddle someone. That's not to say she's totally heartless - she's not - but she has seen plenty of cases where the reaction was caused by something minor/insignificant/stupid or simply just a whiny attempt for attention that she'd become rather jaded. Hanging around a bunch of teenage boys who don't understand the emotions of women also helps that along as well. She's not mean; she's just a little tactless and perhaps a little too rough around the edges for some people to handle.

With these traits, Trish is added to by her attitude. Confident, cocky, and at times sarcastic with a dry, but crude sense of humor; this teenager is what you'd expect from someone her age when influenced by the people she hangs around with. She'd rather be out and about getting into trouble with her friends rather than at classes, believes herself to be untouchable at times, looks down on authority as stingy old folk who don't understand her and her gang because they are old, and skirts the line between good and bad with reckless abandon. She delights in getting into trouble and getting away before she gets caught, finding the adrenaline rush one of the greatest things in the world when it happens, and the later stories of such escapades something to brag about. Oh yes, she is especially prideful of her stories, even if she does exaggerate a little to make the tale more epic. If she's called out as such, she'll just shrug, throw a goodhumored curse or riposte at the naysayer and continue on undeterred.

With all that said, there's only a few other things left to say about Trish. For what it's worth, the teen is loyal to those she considers friends. You have a problem and have Trish on your side? She'll ask how you want your situation dealt with - her left fist or her right fist, your choice. She's also not as dumb as some old farts might think even despite her lack of interest in formal education. Trish knows the value of strength in numbers, and though she has a prideful streak in her to prove herself as a capable fighter, she'll only grumble a little afterward if she has to call on help or if help arrives in a pinch. She also enjoys a challenge, even if she'd prefer to solve it with her brawn than her brain, and revels in all sorts of humor - raunchy or not - as well as action and horror movies (the more explode-y or gory respectively, the better). All in all, she's a teen - if not the most conventional one - and a teen she rather likes to be, thank you very much.

Appearance:
When it comes to Trish and her appearance, what you see is what you get with no substitutions or alterations. Standing at roughly 5'5" when not slouching, Trish is a girl of a lean, scrappy build. Her arms and legs - not too long but not short either - are highlighted with "guitarist"-type muscles and though she is well past puberty, her curves are rather undefined. Her bust is small - on the larger side of an A-cup at best - and despite her Spanish heritage the girl is rather flat all around. She doesn't mind this though; less mass to her makes her that much harder to hit.

Hair and eye-wise, Trish is something of a colorful bird. Her hair is a short pixie cut with bangs that just skirt her eyebrows; the color therein being a dark navy blue with said bangs dyed yellow instead of bleached blonde. As far as eyes go, they are a vivid red which with her hair compliments her naturally tanned skin rather nicely. When it comes to her head, Trish's jaw is triangular and attached to an oval shaped face. A beauty mark sits just beneath her right eye on her high cheekbone, but it's small and may likely go unnoticed unless one were to get up close with her. She's not a supermodel by any stretch, but she'll easily admit she's not butt ugly either, even if she does not care less about make up and skin care.

When it comes to clothing, like hair and make up, Trish doesn't bat an eye or even acknowledge the latest fashions. She would rather strangle herself with her own belt than be caught in something girly and thus her wardrobe is decidedly tomboyish. Shorts, tank tops, capris, cargo pants, t-shirts...It's all in there, but her usual wear is a plain white tank top with camo cargo pants tucked into shiny, shin-high black combat boots with the laces double-knotted. Given her activities and time spent getting into fights more than going to class, Trish also wears gloves or wraps her hands in bandages to keep them safe. It's also not uncommon to see her with a bruise, cut, scab, scar, band aid, or bandage somewhere on her as well. Not one for jewelry, Trish wears no bangles, bobbles, or trinkets on her wrists, neck, anklets, or otherwise, but her right ear is graced with two small silver barbell studs while the left is vacant of anything but two long-healed pinprick holes. She is also known to don a denim jacket when the weather gets cool.

      Outfit collection by halie

History:
As with most histories, life starts with the parents. Trish's father and mother met as many people do - in passing - with friendship, romance, and marriage coming later down the line. After the first blossomed into the second, the third step in their relationship came about a year and a half after the second became official. Trish came about three years later as a happy accident after both parents had given up trying to make a child happen.

Trish's early years were normal, or at least normal from her standpoint. Her mother and father got along well and although they didn't have much, they got by all the same. Trish always had the things she needed - even if toys were a little sparse on birthdays and Christmas - and for the young girl life was just fine.

When Trish was old enough, she was placed in Teufel Town's public school system and it seems from here things started to get a little rough. Her parents schedules had to be shifted or altered in order to get her from their home in the Lynn District to the school out in the Apple District. This caused some stress and strain - the only car her parents had was her father's work truck and money had always been tight so a yearly bus pass made them have to stretch things a little more - but even then, the Cortez family managed. Although not a straight A student, Trish did well and her parents were happy - hoping that their daughter would go on to be a doctor or a lawyer or at the very least make something of herself and get out of the oftentimes dangerous Lynn District. This was not to be.

Around the summer before Trish was to start the fifth grade, her father was laid off from his job as a repairman. Trish's mother took on a second job to help compensate for the loss of income while her husband tried looking for similar employment. For the most part he was unsuccessful, and this turn of events began a long and still ongoing battle between man and wife over funds. Though her parents argued, they did try to hide it from their still young child - doing so most commonly when she was asleep. Of course, not everything remains a secret forever and near the end of her fifth grade year Trish did wake up during one of her parents arguments. She watched them shout and rave at each other, throw obscenities she had not yet heard of, threaten each other with divorce, and make violent gestures at one another even though they were spread a room's length apart. Of course, being a child, Trish wanted mommy and daddy to stop fighting, so she revealed herself. That stopped her parents fight right then and there, but unbeknownst to her it started up again as soon as both adults were assured that their daughter was asleep once more.

Now aware of her parents near-nightly arguments, Trish was put on edge. She became less inclined to ask for things when out and about with her mother or father, tried to not make a fuss out of the little things, and even stopped asking for help on her homework, thinking those things only added to the stress her parents were dealing with. She even tried being more conscientious to her mother and father, but of course Trish wasn't the cause to begin with, so her small contributions didn't make so much as a ripple against the tidal waves that her parents griefed each other with. In time, this put stress on Trish, especially since as she grew, her parents seemed to stop trying to hide their arguments and did so more and more out in the open whenever they were in the house together. None of this ever escalated into physical violence, but the shouting, name calling, threats of this and that, etc dug its roots into Trish and she quickly began to sink into the mire.

This took effect in her grades. Growing more disenchanted as her parents fought more than they seemed to get along, Trish started to slip with her homework. She didn't do it, didn't study, didn't pay attention in class. In turn, her grades began to fall. In time, it began to affect her disposition. A once happy girl became easily made cross and despite living in a bad area of Teufel Town, she began to leave the house simply to take walks in order to get away from all the shouting. When she was in 8th grade, Trish even started fighting with her parents, which ended with Trish slamming the door to her room or the front entrance if she just couldn't take it anymore. Of course, her parents were oblivious - so tied up in their feuds that they wouldn't even realize Trish had gone until she had come back home...Which only started up more rows when they demanded to know the whens and wheres.

By the time she had reached the age of fourteen, Trish had finally had enough. One particular argument sent the teen off running from her home at nearly eight at night. In tears from what had transpired, she ran from one of the more "safe" parts of the Lynn District into one that was not so friendly. Letting her feet carry her and her head to fogged with anger to care where she was, Trish bumped into a pleather jacket wearing teen a couple years older than herself. Not even in the mind to apologize, Trish was only made to stop after the boy she had so rudely jostled made a (what he felt was) humorous quip. This was the final key to Trish's lock and she lashed out at him with a punch. All holds were off then and the two fought, with the boy playing defense more than offense. Ten minutes later, both Trish and this other teen were slumped against a wall, bruised and exhausted. Both were quiet for some time, but soon enough the one who made the untimely quip broke the ice with another one.

      "So...Feel better now?"

Trish could only stare at him then, but she slowly nodded her head to agree. Her opponent-turned-companion could only laugh and from there explained how he tended to feel the same after such altercations as well as a bevvy of other things that stretched from relevant to off topic to off color. Trish only stared at the teen for most of the time they sat there but soon enough both were wandering the back alleys and side streets of Lynn District, making idle chitchat. This teen, Matt, was like Trish in many ways. A Lynn boy himself, his family wasn't the best of sorts and most of the time in "dire straights" when it came to money. He explained to Trish that she wasn't the only one, and that hell, even with him making her single a duo, that they weren't the only ones either. That same evening, Matt introduced Trish to the group of misfits and outcasts that Trish would later come to know and love as her second (but "true") family.

From that point on, Trish began to spend more and more time with that gang of teens and less and less time at home when she could help it. She grew truant, and when it came to grades she was sitting somewhere around the D- marker. She got into scraps, all out fights, and did other delinquent things and felt genuinely happy when doing them. She felt free when mucking about with her friends and no matter what her parents said or tried to do, she would always find a way back to their hideout - or at the very least Matt's apartment. Trish was now "too far gone" as someone might put it, and she couldn't be happier for it.

Presently, Trish has now dropped out of high school (but has yet to tell her parents). She's called it quits and like many of her friends believes education serves her no purpose. She lives in the now, for the now, and no one can make her say or do otherwise. She even boasts that if someone tried to stop her, she'd just give them a black eye for the trouble they would be trying to cause.

Family:
      - Herman Cortez: Trish's father. Once a repairman for a rather large electronics and appliance corporation, he was laid off when Trish was in elementary school. Since then he has struggled with periods of unemployment dotted with scattered months of underpaid, overworked employment and has become rather disenchanted with the world at large.
      - Lydia Cortez: Trish's mother. She holds down two - occasionally three - jobs at a time in order to try and make ends meet. At present she juggles being a grocery store manager and a hair stylist but the stress of those, her home life, and her daughter's choices ar truly starting to take its toll.
      - Matt Bowman: Trish's best friend. He's two years older than her (making him 19 ) and was the one who introduced her to the gang of misfit kids she runs with now. He's not the brightest bulb in the socket and has a habit of running his mouth at unsavory times, but he has Trish's back whenever she needs it.
      - The Gang: A group of lower class (and occasionally middle class) teens who came together over common interests and situations. Although they can fight amongst each other over petty things, each member is as loyal to the next and they act as a family unit.

❉ PUELLA MAGI

Language:
      Spanish

Desires:
To be stronger (physically); to be able to hold her own; to protect those she cares about/get back at those who did her gang wrong; to show she's not just some 'little girl'

Emblem:
A Knuckleduster. The finger holes point upward, while the part that you grip in your palm acts as the base.

Weapon:
Cestus. They don't have to be the same as a gladiator's (maybe something more God of War-like/anime-like so that they cover the whole hand and/or look zany?) but whatever the artist feels is most appropriate is fine!

Type of Magic:
Attack based; super strength. As a Puella Magi, Trish can deal out a world of hurt using just her fists - or any immediately large and available object. Her wish to be stronger granted her great physical strength; she can pick up a four-door sedan as easy as can be and hurl it even when untransformed. However, there is noticeable drawbacks to this power. For one, since her standard means of attack is her fists, her defense is rather low given she has to get up close and personal to do some real damage. Secondly, it's clear that she doesn't have full control over her own strength and can leave noticeable marks with even the lightest tap.

Outfit:
Although I was at something of a loss, I do have a stupid idea for a Puella outfit I've recently come up with - seen here. Pretty much the idea is that Trish's Puella outfit is a turtleneck, sleeveless leotard with a top and open-face skirt topping it, fingerless gloves with metal pieces over the knuckles, Puella ribbons on her upper arms, and ankle length, short heeled boots with thigh-high stockings.

Her outfit is very much less fru-fru and more combat-friendly for easy maneuverability. The top and skirt are shown as blue but the artist has free reign as to her colors (I only used blue 'cause it went with her hair and was good to differentiate how things looked at the time). I would sort of hope for navy blue and bright yellow (gold?) accenting to go along with her hair, with red being in the obvious majority due to her eye color, but again, up to the artist!

As far as inspiration goes, the leotard underneath idea just sort of popped into my head one day, as well as the skirt, gloves, ribbons, and boots. The lapel top, however, comes from tumblr and is seen best in this image. Although the shown image has a lot of buttons and ribbon to keep it together I am hoping Trish would have only one or two straps keeping the thing shut and wouldn't be quite so long in the back (maybe curving around her ribcage at most with no coattails).

If the artist doesn't find it appealing or has other things in mind - or even wants to add to this basic idea - they are more than welcome to surprise me! Also I have NO idea where her Soul Gem would be so that's all up to the artist as well!

❉ WITCH

WITCH FORM:
Name:
      Alexandria

Type:
      City Witch

Description:
The city witch, with a devoted nature. She is protective of her city and those who dwell within her confines, to the point where she is blind to the state she is in and her denizens' true plight. She is mistrustful of those who come from beyond her walls and would prefer that she and the company she keeps were an island so as to not have their way of life disrupted.

Nature:
      Devotion

Appearance:
The City Witch towers over others in the center of her barrier. She is so called not only because of her maze but because of her appearance, which is that of a towering block of skyscrapers. These skyscrapers aren't like our everyday ones, rather they appear to be connected together with little in the ways of alleys or streets and are hodgepodge in design. A few of the buildings stick out in terms of design or color and in some places it appears that two different buildings share one body (think like the first part of one of these is red brick, but sticking out on top of or jutting off the side of that part is a building made of steel, etc) Although there are many, many windows on the faces of each building (a few lights on here and there), there are a lack of doors on any of them, giving this witch a closed off appearance. She also appears to have several districts or city sections crammed into her being, but the truth to this and her true size is unknown - smoke/steam pours from her back and if one craned their neck or got above her, they might be able to spot a smokestack or two. There are business buildings, apartment complexes, plazas, and other places all inside her body, but what a Puella would first see when going against her would be her hodgepodge face (and that's likely all they ever would see - at times she seems to be more facade than substance).

Materials she would be made out of (if the artist didn't go with digital art) would be anything available. Straws make supports for a building under construction, most of her could be made out of construction paper, cardboard, a brick with scribbles on it, etc. Marker or more paper for windows and detailing perhaps. She could probably have a 3D diorama look to her to make her more intimidating and as though she were a maze within her maze.

The best image I could possibly have for what I'm trying to shoot for is this image of Castelia City from Pokemon Black and White/Black 2 and White 2. As you can see, the city appears massive and towering, with many mixed buildings in very close proximity to each other. That, plus the fact Alexandria's maze is set in perpetual nighttime, would make for a very intimidating witch I think!

Barrier/Maze:
Seedy city underbelly at night. Tight back alleyways, shadows everywhere, trash strewn about, broken street lights, flickering neon signs, rusty chain link fences, pothole littered streets, steam spewing manhole covers - the works. This maze is meant to represent the world Trish had known best - a bleak, dark area where the world pressed down upon those who lived in it with little to no chance of breaking free of it. This place is also meant to show that even in the most clean and well thought of cities there's always going to be an underbelly that paints an entirely different picture of what most perceive.

Location:
Lynn District. Those affected by Alexandria become defensive and rather xenophobic, acting as if anyone who stumbles into this area is out to threaten their "home".

Attack(s):
For all her devotion and wanting to protect her denizens, Alexandria is stationary. She moves, certainly - her buildings settle and rise noticeably to the naked eye - but beyond those involuntary movements, she is rooted to the streets that stretch out from beneath her. Because of this, her attacks are AoE and range rather than up front, in your face melee.

One of her first attacks is a ranged one. She summons construction scaffolding that rip through the ground and walls of her maze at various intervals. This is a two-level attack. First you have the supports themselves making a mess of things and secondly there is the debris that comes from these things shoving through tar, concrete, and other materials.

Her second attack is more AoE. A Witch city is still a city and thus fraught with pollution. Alexandria sucks wind into her walls and windows (covering her faces with papers and litter in most cases), pauses for a split moment, and then releases a thick gust of smog from every nook and cranny. This smog is a hazy purple and thick enough that it lowers visibility. Using this followed by her support structures attacks is a good one-two punch.

Lastly, she has a finishing move. Although she doesn't appear to have any doors at all, Alexandria's final attack deals with consuming trespassers. The tallest building on her face (will probably be front and center) reveals itself to be a mouth of sorts - splitting right down the middle like a pair of double doors. Inside is swirling blackness with a faint pinpoint of light in her center. Like her smog attack, Alexandria then starts to suck wind inward with terrible force, but unlike her previous attack, there is no pause and expulsion after. Once something gets pulled in, she quickly slams her face shut and that's the end of that.

Grief Seed:
Alexandria's Grief Seed bears industrial touches. Rivets dot the stems that surround the core of the seed, which has the image of a skyscraper within it. The emblem atop the seed looks like an airplane warning light - a long stem with a spherical bulb topping that - and the base of the seed has a city skyline encircling it.

MINION #1 FORM:
Name:
      Mattias

Duty:
      Upkeep

Description:
Despite his duty being "upkeep", Mattias is tasked with keeping the maze and lair of his Witch as decrepit as possible. He breaks lights, litters, marks the walls with graffiti, and other such things to keep the city as unwholesome looking as possible.

Appearance:
Although he has multiple uses, Mattias looks as though he'd only serve one purpose. His appearance is that of an oversize (almost novelty really) spray paint can in various, gaudy colors with a pair of sunglasses over the middle as though that would give him a 'too cool for school' vibe.

Attack(s):
Mattias attacks by spraying any intruders with paint. It is actual paint and thus not truly damaging, but it can blind or at the very least startle anyone who isn't expecting it. He can also attack by throwing himself at a target, and can knock down if he builds up enough momentum.

MINION #2 FORM:
Name:
      Don

Duty:
      Protection

Description:
Don's duty is to protect his Witch and her lair. Any intruders into her territory are looked upon as though they are trying to make a move to take over what is hers and must be dealt with before that can happen.

Appearance:
Don's appearance is simple but less cartoony than Mattias'. Given he is the protector - the muscle - he has to be intimidating. Thus his appearance is that of a motorcycle (think Harley Davidson type rather than Kawasaki), though most might not see this when he's barreling toward them at max speed. Also unlike Mattias, Don is just one color rather than many - a bright, shiny red accented with chrome and black leather. His engine is loud and his headlight is always on as he roams through his territory, looking for those who would try and take over what is his Witch's.

Attack(s):
Don attacks with speed and confusion. In the case of the former, he full on charges an opponent, roaring down upon them at high speeds in an attempt to run them over. When it comes to the latter, however, Don works in numbers. Several of them will hide out at a distance and rev their engines simultaneously, making the sound echo off the walls so it's hard to pinpoint their location or even the sheer numbers that will soon be ganging up on whomever is targeted.

And open for crits from here on out!

I'd like to apologize in advance for any roughness on her personality or history - it was rather late when I wrote them out. Please ask questions! I do so love answering them.

Also, I am asking for help on Trish's Puella Magi emblem. That has me really stumped and I have nooooooo idea wtf to put for that. Thank you Snoof for the idea!

Thanks in advance!

I think you did a really good job with Trish :3

Just a few things I am wondering about:

Does she make friends with those in her highschool who aren't already in her gang? If so, does she make them a part of the gang, or does she interact with her school friends separately from her gang?

After (if) her parents found out about her gang of misfits, did they do anything about it? Or was the business taking too much of their time to do anything about it? How did they deal with it, if at all?

Does she look down at everyone who disagrees with her? Or does she once in awhile see the wrongs of whatever she is doing?

As for an emblem, maybe a greater-than sign? Or maybe a crescendo? just some suggestions :3

Thank you! :'D

--She did, but as she got in with and hung out more with the "wrong crowd" she did end up losing those friends for that and other reasons. Some moved away, others got in with their own cliques, she just wasn't around much in school anymore, etc etc.

--Their business does take a lot of their time away from their daughter and since they're not home much, they don't really know about it. Trish doesn't advertise it to her parents outright about it either. If they found out though, they are still her parents, they love her, and it's likely one or even both of them would fly back out to take charge of things. Of course, if they did, Trish might be a bit too fargone into her ways to change overnight.

--Hmm...I'm not gonna say she looks down upon them, per say, but she is rather bullheaded about her own opinions. She is human (at least, until she becomes a Puella Magi >A>; ) and she's not any sort of evil (personally I see her as Chaotic Good alignment) so she does see wrongs and rights.

--A crescendo? o3o *will have to look that up* Thanks for your suggestions; I'm gonna see what other people throw my way for ideas <3

Hi hi, Ravi! I come bearing some questions for you!

First of all, I think you did a wonderful job on Trish. She sounds like a pretty well-rounded character, full of bold personality. Definitely not somebody I'd want to get on the bad side of. She has her small kindnesses (such as loyalty to those she considers friend), which works given her situation. I do have a few questions though!

  • What initially draws her to a person, as far as friends go?
  • Hobbies! Does she have anything she particularly enjoys doing when she's not hanging out with her gang, or even when they're all together?
  • This is just me, but I'd love to see some expansion on her gang. Maybe some names and brief personalities, who are her main wingmen, etc.
  • A little more expansion on her family would be nice as well, in the "family" section. A brief blurb on their personalities, really~ I'm just curious about them. :>!
  • How does/would she react to losing a fight? Would a big incident involving this draw her towards making her wish to be stronger?
  • Does she have some kind of support ability (i.e. Kyoko's chain-link forcefield, Mami's ribbon, etc.)?

That's about all I can think of for now~ But please, have a present!

Hi halie! I'm glad to hear you like her <333

--A big people-draw for Trish is definitely loyalty. She likes people who will be there for you when you need them, who are helpful, friendly of course, etc, like a family would be. She might like to hold her own and prove herself, but the security of having people to fall back on - while kept quiet - is still there. She also likes people who can take a joke or criticism without crapping themselves, those who don't start bawling or throwing a fit when something doesn't go their way, and people who can keep up with her.

--Hobbies! Yes. :B Trish really loves watching action/horror movies, similar-style TV shows (cop dramas, shows like 24, Kingdom Hospital, etc), enjoys video games and arcade games, and jogging (but it may be pronounced 'yogging'. The 'j' might be silent.).

--I do know I have to expand upon her gang! My big 'get done' at the time (since you know I was doing this at like...1-2am XD) was Trish since she is more a part of the shop than they are. I will be doing them, don't you worry!

--Yes, I do know this as well. Explanation for lack of info is the same as above.

--It depends on the scale of the fight, and you are correct on your second question! As for the first, if it's just a friendly "play" fight or something and she loses, she'll be the most okay with that. Still sore about losing (especially if it's to a newbie or something) since she WILL get ribbed, but on a lesser degree than say, getting her butt whooped by a rival gang.

--Given I'm not sure HOW the shop is going to do our girls' magic (ie: Letting us pick our powers or them creating them for us with our wishes/desires in mind) I don't really have an answer for this. I do see Trish being very attack-oriented, but in the test run of the battle system Roo had Snoof and I do with her, she did have a buff that effected others. However, her attacks were set up by Roo then, not by me.

Gonna be fixing up and overhauling Trish. I haven't been happy with her history and her personality could use a tweak or two.

I'll post again when she's open for a new round of critiquing. c:

Kota brought up an interesting point to me over IM about Trish's history, which is that a lot of girls have 'momma leaving' drama as part of their pasts. With this now in mind, I'm going to be editing Trish's history section. While I do this, the rest of her will still be open for critique!

Okay, after months of sitting on my hands, I've finally finished Trish's revamped history!

I'm opening her up again for crits and such because I want to enter her in the shop's next mini event, which will be a concept contest/quest review event! >u<
