05. If you have no Long at all, or only eggs, you may make up a Xun Chang character for the purposes of the entry.
06. Xun Chang that have been made up may be purchased as a custom or semi-custom, but will not be gifted to the entrant. The only Long to be won from this Writing Contest are the two Shen Shan and two Shen Zui posted.
07. There is no minimum or maximum wordcount for this portion of The Search. We are looking for entries that answer the prompts fully and are well-written.

Just as you take cover, one of the new Long gets off a particularly vicious blow, and the other falls like a stone, landing on the ground with an awful thud. The attacker stands over his victim for a few seconds, then rushes off, obviously also very badly hurt. You must assume he's rushing off to get his wounds healed so that he can fight anew. Do you go after him, or do you focus on the long laying on the ground? And whichever you focus on, do you offer aid and comfort or try to bring the long down? (In this prompt, you may choose whether it is Shen Shan that has been downed, or Shen Zui. Bearing in mind the attitudes of the other races, part of your entry must reveal how whichever you focus on responds to you and your interference.)

Rumors abound in this uncertain time. Some rumors have cropped up that the Long of Old - Long with wings of feathers and skin, of hard horns and softly floating halos - have returned to fight out their differences here, on the outskirts of Hengmeng Youshi. Other rumors claim that they are using the Xun Chang to fight their battles for them, and that if left unanswered, the whole of Hengmeng Youshi may well be in danger from approaching armies. Do you believe these rumors? Have you see one of the Long of Old yourself, or spoken to them? And with all these myriad rumors floating about, what are your plans?

As you approach the Wei Kun Lian one night, you hear two voices talking in the shadows behind it. It's hard to hear them over the bustle of the business, even weakened as it is from the conflict that has been raging. But you think you can make out a few pertinent words, including 'kidnap' and 'ransom'. Edging closer, you hear the conversation come to a close with the chilling statement, "...then kill him." You manage to peer around the corner stealthily, and are able to see, in the moonlight, two shadowy forms. You can just make out the shape of their wings before they fade into the shadows that mark the edge of the gardens. Left alone, you must decide what to do. (In this prompt, you may choose which of the new races are plotting. Please show how their race affects your reactions to the planning.)

Caihong Mengxiang was out for a stroll, enjoying the crisp nighttime air. The sun had just set, creating an otherworldly blue-gray sky. As she walked along, absorbed in her own thoughts, her stomach growled, reminding her of dinner. Conveniently, she was walking through a traditional food market. Smells of delicious treats wafted through windows slightly ajar. She picked one at random, feeling a bit guilty that she was so far from Wei Kun Lian, where she usually ate. She began to trot towards the bakery she picked, her path lit by beautiful lanterns. She entered the shop and quickly ordered some pork buns, along with a pot of dandelion tea. When the food was delivered, she remarked on how good the service was here and began to eat.
As she ate her last bun, she noted the shouts outside. What sounded like a normal conversation had quickly escalated into a heated argument. Though she couldn't quite make out what they were saying, it was obvious both sides were passionate about their beliefs. She had just nervously swallowed her last bit of bun when the fight started. She nervously rushed outside, mouth agape. There were two winged long, a brightly colored female with ram-like horns and leathery wings, and an equally brightly colored male with bird wings and--Wait, was that a halo? thought Caihong. The two long are using both magical and physical attacks, she noted grimly. The two long were using stronger and stronger attacks, lowering their defenses at the same time. Though it had started as a normal conversation, it quickly turned into a fight to the finish. The two long were battling not just to hurt, but to kill. The surrounding passerby had all taken cover, as the long were using mostly magic now.
Caihong backed into the eatery, now with people watching at every window. The female was landing quite a few blows, drawing blood here and there. This obviously angered the male, who lashed out and bit her right foreleg with all his might. With a cry of pain and inevitable defeat, the female fell, unable to stand. Glaring, she used the last of her strength into blades of ice, which she hurled at the male with hatred--and missed. The male has unfurled an enormous ball of fire--fire so hot that Caihong could feel it. With a violent scream, the male hurled it at the female, causing an explosion that shook the very ground. These were obviously two very, very powerful long. After checking if the female was dead, the male smirked evilly and walked away, obviously satisfied.
Caihong decided to see if the female long was actually dead. She had never seen a dead long before. She loomed over the strange long sprawled on the ground. The long shuddered after Caihong had nudged her gently. The long's eyes flickered open wearily.
"Are you alright?" Caihong asked nervously.
"I've been worse," the long grunted. "Actually, scratch that. I've never been worse." This made Caihong smile.
"My name's Caihong Mengxiang. But you can call me Caihong," she said with a grin.
"I'm Ma Zui, and that's what you'll call me," replied Ma Zui mildly. Caihong frowned.
"As in, 'tranquilizer'?" She inquired.
"I didn't name myself. Go ask my parents!" huffed Ma Zui.
"Oh wow...you're mane's all singed. And you're leg..."
"I know about my leg!"
"Okay then...what do you want me to do?"
"Get me to a healer long or something. I really don't care. As for me..." Ma Zui yawned. "I'm going to take a nap. Good night," she said moodily.
"WAIT!" shouted Caihong, shaking Ma Zui. "Why do you look weird?"
"Why do you not look weird?" Ma Zui sassed.
"What I meant was, 'Why do you have wings and horns?' And why did that long have a halo?"
"Long story short, we're the Long of Old. Go ask your elders or something," Ma Zui grunted. "I'm sleeping. Once again, good night. And good riddance, too."
"Don't be so moody! You're frustrating me! Can I ask one more question?"
"You just did. Now let me nap in peace."
This made Caihong growl in frustration.
"Ma Zui, what were you arguing about?" she asked innocently, trying again. At this, Ma Zui softened a bit.
"I have no idea. But the world would be a whole lot better without the Shen Shan. To tell the truth, there was some little argument eons ago that made us two kinds hate each other. That's how it is. That's how it always will be."
"But if the angel dude was a Shen Shan, then what are you?"
"Me? I'm a Shen Zui," Ma Zui replied. "Go. Away," she added testily.
"But--"
"Please just leave!" Ma Zui interrupted. Caihong looked stunned.
"Okay," she murmured, hurt. She hustled back into the eatery for some more pork buns, leaving Ma Zui alone and asleep.

Zacho had needed to pick up a few more supplies for the clinic. They were running low on salve again. She was humming a lullaby to herself as she wandered through the twilit, almost empty streets, trying to catch the last open stalls, and hoping she wouldn't have to go all the way to the 24-hour stores. Suddenly, a screech rent the air. Some long was hurt, and it sounded pretty bad. Zacho ran as fast as she could toward the scream, and then the second one. As she shot around a corner, she saw them. Two long, with wings. Not that it bothered her, she had more important things to worry about, like the long that had just collapsed. She ran to the fallen long, only sparing a glance at the one quickly limping off. She could still walk, the one passed out on the ground was a much more pressing matter. Zacho did a quick look over to spot the major injuries. Her wings were pretty torn. Zacho wasn't really sure what to do with them, since she'd never worked with wings before. She gathered the feathers that had been torn out and placed them in her basket with her supplies, just in case she'd need them. There was a nasty bruise forming on the long's side, there was probably a broken rib. And... there was a halo? And it was flickering? That was probably a really bad sign. Zacho quickly pulled out the teleportation scroll and touched her front foot gently to the injured long's shoulder and recited the spell, taking her immediately to the lobby of the clinic. "Bangshou! I need help STAT!" Her pink bunny helper was immediately at her side with the emergency kit. Zacho quickly set about applying salve and bandaging the lesser wounds, also rubbing a little salve onto the cuts on her wing. Soon, but not soon enough for Zacho, two of the other clinic long rushed down with a gurney, and between the three of them, they safely laid out the winged long. They rushed her to the emergency healing room, and Zacho spend hours trying to bandage all the small cuts and dealing with the broken rib. When she had done all she could, she left the room and slumped against the wall. She blearily peered through the window, and happily noticed that her halo was no longer flickering. Zacho still had the bunch of green feather sitting in a pile next to the long, she wasn't sure how to replace them. She wasn't sure if this long could fly or if she ever would again. She wasn't sure how well this long would turn out, or if she would life to fight again. Only time would tell.
She laid her head down on the cold tiles and drifted into an exhausted sleep.
