Lex's Masao Hi and Adona's Rakkarouzeki
PostPosted: Tue Aug 09, 2011 1:59 pm

Masao Hi was making his way through the forest, heading toward business that was only his own, when he noticed the trees starting to thin out. A sure sign of a clearing ahead.

Masao thought about avoiding it or at least skirting around the edge, but what were the odds of actually meeting another kitsune? Besides, it might actually make a good hiding place for whatever he needed some day.

As the trees suddenly stopped, Masao found himself wondering into a vast garden, full of brightly colored, beautiful flowers. And...

"You again!"

That strange soldier-like kit, who insisted on literally standing guard every moment he wasn't asleep. Masao was stunned speechless at the sight of this kit. He couldn't believe that he had just randomly stumbled back onto him.

This particular garden was one of peace to Rakkarouzeki the Guardian. Though his life was about being a good Soldier, as his father had been, and his grandfather, all the way down as far as he could remember from the stories, there were moments of rare peace for the soldier, where he would remove his helm and recite stories from heart with a soft grin.

Times like that, of course, were too rare to count. His scars kept him from removing his helm too often.

In this garden, this was not a time of peace. As ever, Rakkarouzeki was on his guard, and it didn't take long before his ears perked up on an intruding presence. It was nearly invisible to the untrained ear, but Rakkarouzeki's were trained. And then the intruder had introduced himself.

Rather rudely, really.

He turned towards the intruder, to tell him to GTFO his garden, but... Oh, no.

"What are you doing here?" He narrowed his eyes a fraction behind his helm, turning to face the ghostly kit he had met before.

What am I doing here, how like him to ask that, soldier... kit. Masao narrowed his eyes at his unwilling companion.

"I was merely heading toward a place of business, and happened onto this glade. I didn't choose to stumble onto you."

But... if the soldier didn't want him here, then he might as well make himself comfortable.

"Though it's a nice place and I could use a short rest."

Masao deliberately laid down among the flowers, sniffing a few, making sure not to hurt them. He let his tongue loll and panted in the warmth of the flowers, feeling quite relaxed.

"Well, then, carry on--"

Oh, no no no! What was he doing?! Why was he laying--

"Don't you crush those--"

He inhaled the last of his threat when Masao laid down. Rather ungracefully, if Rakka was honest. But he managed to not hurt the little flowers that Rakka was guarding so solemnly, so the threat was without warrant.

Disgruntled nonetheless, the kit ventured towards him, scowling a little. "Well, rest so you can go." He said insistently. He couldn't properly guard the Garden if there was an intruder he had to watch!

"Oh calm down, you old soldier. I wouldn't crush them anyway, they've done nothing wrong. Quit worrying about your precious flowers."

Masao grinned, it was working, Rakka was clearly irritated. He happily sniffed another brightly colored flower, feeling very satisfied with the day's work. He yawned and continued taunting the dark kit.

"I can see why you like this place though, it's really relaxing. I think I'll stay here for quite a while. I bet you've been wanting my company too."

He gave a short sarcastic bark-laugh and swished his flaming-yet-not-burning tail around.

Ooh... He had an idea. He knew his tail wouldn't burn the flowers or start a fire, but did his companion? He swished his tail around again, and then once more, closer to the flowers. He knew Rakka would notice the motion, the soldier noticed everything. He kept his face straight, and even managed another yawn.

He scowled. "They're not my flowers, they're just--"

He stopped, and let out a harsh exhale through his nose, scowling a little at him. This stupid kit was enjoying this! He rolled his shoulders back, lifting his head a bit to glower down at Masao.

"Like I want another scar." He said with a snort, rolling his eyes and glaring at Masao. The last thing he wanted was HIM in Rakka's Garden. Ffffff.

Rakka's gaze shifted abruptly to the flaming tail. His eyes widened behind the helm, and he practically leapt forward to snap at his tail. "Don't!" OMGIFHELITHISFLOWERSONFIRE--

... Rakka seethed. This had to be just what he wanted, the sneaky rat.

"Leave." He fumed. "Before you drive me out of my skull." Screw pleasantries; there was nothing pleasant about this kit.

Masao got up and moved away from the angry kit when he moved to snap at his tail. Now, he would play nice. He loved to irritate this kitsune, all kitsunes really, but he didn't want to push him too far. He moved a little farther and sat down, once again careful not to harm the flowers.

"You know, old soldier, I don't think I know your name. Will you trade it for mine?" Without waiting for an answer, he proffered his name. "I'm called Masao Hi, the pale fire kitsune. But don't be afraid for your flowers," his tail swished back and forth in demonstration, "it's not really fire."

He paused again, looking around the beautiful garden, and lastly staring up into the sky. "This place is amazing. How did you ever find it? I've never seen flowers so beautiful."

Once again, peace overtook him, and the urge to be an irritating trickster left him. He debated apologizing to his companion, not because he was sorry, but more to calm the other kit down. He would wait and see if he was still angry, and apologize then. It would... really suck if he had to leave here right now. He would definitely apologize if the kit still wanted him to leave.

Pleased that Masao moved away from his flowers, Rakka moved to separate the two, standing over his flowers with a haughty snort. Stupid Ghost, trying to burn down his glade. If he knew Masao couldn't light it on fire, he would've felt foolish, but thankfully he had no such knowledge.

He eyed the kit, who proclaimed his name, with a narrowed expression. What did he want with a name like that, anyway? The sooner he could get rid of this kit, though, the better, so Rakka decided that giving him a few words wouldn't hurt. He seemed to relax a fraction when Masao explained that his tail caused no harm; though now he did feel foolish.

He allowed a moment of silence to pass, more for Masao than himself. If the kit wanted to enjoy the glade, he could, for the moment. "... My name is Rakkarouzeki." He said after that long moment of quiet. "My father brought me here when I was young. I found it again a few weeks ago." He'd been ecstatic when he found it and recognized the flowers. No matter where he went none of them shone so beautifully as in this glade.

At least, to Rakkarouzeki's eyes.

"...I apologize. For snapping at you." He said, though the apology made him cringe.

Masao felt happy for his unwilling companion, he felt the joy Rakka must have felt at rediscovering such a precious place. He let the joy fill his chest and ignored his surroundings until-

Rakka apologized.

Masao couldn't help it, he laughed a deep chest laugh that ecchoed through the clearing.

"That's the first time I've ever had someone apologize for me being an a*****e. But it shows that you're a pretty big guy, if you're willing to apologize when you're not at fault." He gave a soft apologizing grin, ears slightly tilted. "You pretty much don't ever have to apologize to me. I usually deserve whatever I get for pulling some a*****e prank."

He snickered. "Though you gotta admit, they're hilarious when you're not on the receiving end."

Rakka stepped back a fraction when the laugh erupted unprovoked, furrowing his brow at the curious kit in front of him. At his explanation, though, Rakka's face relaxed into the typical stoicism behind his helm.

"It is easier to ask forgiveness than make assumptions, and less dangerous in the outcome." He explained, quirking a small smile in Masao's direction as he looked around the garden. His ears tilted towards Masao, and he snorted slightly at his last statement.

"When you're not on the receiving end, perhaps." He smirked a little, looking over. "Playtime wasn't something I participated in. I never understood the prospects of pranks." He and his siblings had been steadfast. Daddy's little Soldiers. Playtime was training, time-outs were exercise. Rakkarouzeki saw nothing wrong with this, but didn't mention his upbringing. While untraditional, it had made Rakkarouzeki into the guardian he was.

He sat after a moment, still a few paces from Masao but close enough in his eyes.

Masao looked thoughtful. "I see what you're saying, it makes sense. Though I still wouldn't do it. I'd rather do the opposite and annoy them." He snickered, and then snickered again as his companion repeated his words.

"Well, since you're pretty cool, I'll try not to be too hard on you. Though I can't promise anything solid, since it IS in my nature." A small snicker, and he was done. Of course, he thought about teasing the old kitsune about taking his advice sitting down on guard, but he promised. So he would keep his muzzle shut.

He laid down, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the beautiful garden, his previous task forgotten. His eyes closed.

He really didn't want to leave this place, and hoped his new companion wouldn't kick him out.
