Powers: Now that he is a ghost, Aaron can now pass through people, walls, anything as if they weren't even there. He can also fly, and can even interact with objects and the environment if he focuses enough energy on doing so. And just recently Aaron has learned that he can possess objects, using them as makeshift bodies, such as mannequins, an idea he had remembered from a past episode of Doctor Who.
Abilities: Before death and after, Aaron is still in good physical condition, not that that would really matter because of his 'situation'. He is skilled at hand-to-hand combat, is a rather good improviser, is skilled at talking his way out of situations, and pays a rediculously large amount of attention to detail which is something he believes can be a very useful thing.
Weapons: Aaron did not die with any kind of weapon on his person, so the only objects that are still on him now that he is a ghost are whatever he had in his pockets at the moment of his death: his wallet, a roll of breath mints, and some spare change. However, he can use his new powers to interact and even possess objects if he concentrates hard enough. So basically his weapons are whatever he can get a hold of.
Goals:Matthews wants so much to just cross-over and go to Heaven. Aaron is absolutely confused as to why he hasn't crossed-over yet. He is unsure if God crosses him over, or if he has to do it himself. From what Aaron knows from movies, sometimes spirits have to solve certain problems or find closure before they can go to the other side. After helping his family and friends move on (which he thought would get him to Heaven for sure), but failing crossover, he had come to the conclusion that he is being kept on the planet for another reason: to help fight the war. Aaron has now made it his mission to do so so his spirit can go to Heaven. Or anywhere. After waiting for so long, he just wants to go somewhere.
Personality: Throughout his life and into his afterlife, Aaron has always been easygoing, hardworking, compassionate, loyal, honest, trusting, overall what you would call a "good penny". But other than all this, he's always been shy quiet, reserved and awkward. He also has his moments where he is a bit dense.
Pet Peeves:He hates reflecting on all the things he hadn't done or had had the courage to do in his life, such as talking to the girl he'd been crushing on since college, going to parties with friends, and telling off or punching out the neighborhood bully. But more painful than all this is reflecting on all the things he hadn't had a chance to do in life such as finding his soulmate and having children.
Also seeing his family and friends mourn for him tortures Aaron.
Flaws: Throughout his life and even in his afterlife, Aaron has always been proned to misunderstandings and awkward situations, a lot of this resulting from his frequent daydreaming. Because of this daydreaming, he has gained a lot of experience in thinking on his feet and improvising, but his living in his "own little world" still causes problems for him.
His "ghostness" as he likes to put it also proves pesky for him. He cannot be seen by the living unless he is in a dimly lit area (which is by far the best way to see him, even though he is barely visible), catching a glimpse of him in a reflection, or catching him in a photograph. He's also just recently discovered that if he stands in a fog or mist, he can be seen that way as well.
Matthews also has a hard time communicating with the living. The best way to do so is again by being in a well lit area or in a mist or fog. Other than that, he'd have to resort to whispering a few words in people's ears or breathing on a mirror and writing a message on it, or any little tricks, however it would require a lot of energy.
Biography:Aaron had a rather boring life. He never really did anything exciting. He just went to school and kept his head down, staying out of trouble. He went to college to become a court stenographer (or court reporter) and graduated, but didn't get a job until a month before his death. Before that he just did odd jobs while living in his parents' house.
His death happened when he was helping his friend Andrew move to another apartment away from the chaos of the war. They were disassembling one of several homemade booby traps that Andrew had set up when one of them went off due to his poor craftsmanship and hit Aaron, resulting in his death before the ambulance could arrive.
After that, Aaron had spent a week as a ghost, waiting for his soul to ascend into Heaven. When that didn't happen, he figured he had to find closure before that could happen. So after a long and trying time, he had managed to help his family and friends --including Andrew who had taken it very hard, blaming himself for Aaron's death-- move on. When that didn't get Aaron anywhere, he managed to convince himself that he's being kept on the planet to help fight the war. He has now made it his mission to bring peace to the planet so he can cross-over.
