Ok.. Looks like I'm the first person to post something that needs help sweatdrop
Anyway... as you've probably noticed, I've been getting into -or at least trying to- songwriting lately. As you've also probably noticed, I'm not that great at it.
This next piece is something I've been working on for the past few days and can't think of what else to write...
Dear Diary It's three in the morning And I'm lying in bed I couldn't get to sleep again And time ticks on slowly Oh, and the hours press on I get dressed and go to school Oh, Time in the classroom Time with my friends It all feels like such a blur Oh, Dear Diary I went a little crazy today Dear Diary Went a little crazy today Oh, and the hour moves slowly and the ink keeps on flowing Pouring my troubles into paper And there's nothing I can do now So it's time to sit awake now I let my heart sink through the cracks Oh, Time on my own now Time in the dark It's all slowly closing in Oh, Dear Diary I went a little crazy today Dear Diary Went a little crazy today >>Insert missing stuff here<< Oh Dear Diary I went a little crazy today Dear Diary Went a little crazy with the blade

Alright, so, lyrics. My own forte in this genre comes more from the musical side of the fence. I write melodies, so, my advice for you in my first read through is to find a melody you think best and fit your lyrics to it. This will give you a rhythm which should help you with the overall flow of the piece. Now for finishing the song... You need something to tie it all together. Again, I suggest listening to songs with meaningful lyrics. How do they do it? What makes their lyrics work. See if you can implement what you have learned into your own writing. I hope this helps!
