Due to the fact that our leader think this is an act of God or something, I'll tell you my method (maybe) for getting Shinies.
I got my first Shiny in SoulSilver, in a week where I was feeling particularly OCD. I waited a full week to phone up EVERY Gym Leader thinking "I could buff my team by fighting these guys". Barely used any items. Anway after figthing them Chronologically (Brock -> Misty -> Lt. Surge...Blue), I made it all the way to Sabrina. I don't know if I was seeing double or not, but i saw her aura glow and hair were YELLOW. I took it as an omen and booked it to what I think was Route 7 (South of Cerulean, North of Saffron).
2 minutes later. WaBAM! Shiny Gloom
My theory is that this method of fighting draws enough data to keep using the random number generator over and over, boosting the odds of Shiny-dom.
Real?
Bull?
Done it yourself?
What do you think guys?

It increases the chance of breeding a shiny pokemon from about 1/8000 to about 1/2000! you're going to need a Japanese ditto to breed with the female pokemon parent u want the shiny to be! Ex. Female Shiny Charizard + Japanese Ditto = Shiny Charmander I would recommend getting a Japanese Ditto from the GTS! Be sure to ask me anything u don't understand. Good luck, and I hope this helped!

The only ways that I know of getting shiny pokemon are:
1. pokeradar and chaining
2. masuda method breeding
3. soft resetting
4. old fashion way 1/8192 chances of encountering
