LIFE BEFORE IS ONLY A MEMORY
Maggie grew up in a broken household. Her father left when she was young and she grew up with her mother and older brother. Her mother worked almost 24/7 so Maggie was normally left on her own. She took care of herself when her brother couldn't. As she grew older, she didn't spend time with the best group of kids. She caused trouble at school but passed with fairly high grades. Her brother, by then, had left home and it was just Maggie and her mother. She hadn't heard from her father since he left and had long since gotten over him leaving. She didn't evne know him so she doesn't really care for him. All she knows about him is his name since her mother didn't have any pictures of him. She was an outsider at school and normally caused trouble just for the fun of it. When she was about 16, she was diagnosed with cancer. She spent most of her time in the hospital and got to know the nurses well since they were mainly her company. She sometimes spent time in the nurses' locker room during their breaks. The cancer was bad and the doctor gave her a 50% chance of survival. Maggie stayed in the hospital for a little over two years. During that time, the doctor recommended she smoke to help with the nauseousness. the man she got it from tried to impress her even though she didn't look all that pretty with no hair. Miracleiously, she managed to survive and was soon able to live a normal life. Her hair, which she had lost during her fight with cancer, slowly regrew until it was back to the length it once was. She went back to living her life the way she had, however she valued life a lot more after almost experiancing death. She still didn't hang out with the best crowd of kids and soon knew where all the drug dealers kept their stash, this turned out to be good knowledge during the invasion.

Her life was fairly normal until the aliens invaded six months ago. Maggie had been living on her own for a few months and had kept in contact with her older brother. She was returning home when the aliens attacked. Her brother was killed in the first wave of the attack. He had been in the army and was at base when they were destroyed by the aliens. Maggie had been on the phone with him when it happened. They had been discussing her brother's plans to come visit for the weekend when the Skitters bombed the base. Her brother had been the only family Maggie had ever felt close to and it caused great pain to know he was dead. She figured her mother had died when the aliens first attacked but she isn't sure. She had lost contact with her mother ever since she survived her cancer. Her brother, however, had been there for her since she had been a little kid and to actually hear him die from the other end of the phone, hurt. Maggie stayed on her own since then, fending for herself during the invasion. She did a fairly good job since not getting killed or captured by the aliens was a big reward. About three months after the attack, Maggie was cornered by a Skitter when The Prisoner of War saved her. By then, things had been getting tough especially finding food and supplies to live on. So, when The Prisoner of War offered to take her back to his gang, Maggie didn't think twice. It wasn't the smarest move. The gang was made up entirely of criminals, all who were men. It wasn't the best enviorment to be the only women in. She had barely been there a week when one of the members raped her. After that night, she wasn't treated very well in the gang. She was constantly harassed by the others and was sexually assulted a few more times. At first, she was tempted to just shoot herself and get it over with but she pushed through, determined not to let them win. Soon, the need to shoot herself turned around and she felt a need to put a bullet through everyone of them. However, Maggie restrained herself and pushed through the living hell. However, the three months she spent with The Prisoner of War and his gang did leave some more emotional scars to the young woman.

About six months after the attack, a small team from the 2nd Mass infiltrated an armory where a few members of the gang had been. It was very unfortunate to the 2nd Mass members since they were captured by the gang members and brought back to the head quarters, which happened to be an abandoned school. There was six of them, an adult male who appeared to be their leader, a teenage boy, a teenage girl, and three other men, one of whom was killed before they were captured. Maggie mainly kept in the shadows until The Prisoner of War called her forward to escort the leader of the group's son back to the 2nd Mass with their demands. When he returned shortly later with a women that claimed she was a doctor, capable of healing the gang's injured member, Maggie led them back to the group as The Prisoner of War went to confront the 2nd Mass with most of the gang, leaving only Maggie, the injured member, and one other. The onyl advantage they had was that they were armed and the 2nd Mass group wasn't. She had been perfectly fine sitting around and waiting until the injured member started making comments toward the female member of the 2nd Mass group. In the end, Maggie ended up shooting both him and the other gang member in the room and helping the 2nd Mass group escape. She wasn't quiet sure how The Prisoner of War was captured but, in her mind, he got what he deserved. She joined the 2nd Mass shortly after that and became a fighter for them. Her time in the gang wasn't all a waste, though it was hell. She learned how to ride a motorcycle very well and is as familiar with a gun as most girls are with a credit card. She knows most of the members of the 2nd Mass don't trust her but she doesn't let it get to her. Now, she's just taking it one day at a time.

LIFE BEFORE IS ONLY A MEMORY
Ever since Karen was young her family was always moving. It wasn't because her parents had jobs that involved them to move, oh no. It was mostly because of her father. He tended to get into trouble every were they went. Her mother had always tried to hold down a job but it seemed as if as soon as she got one she liked they had to move. And the fact that her mother was a bit of an alcoholic didn't really help. When ever Karen was home alone with her mother she tended to take things out on her, but has told no one about it. Because of this Karen never really made the best of friends. She knew people, not always the best, but never kept in touch every time she moved. It wasn't as if she was friendless though, she had a sister that was five years older then she was. The two were very close and stuck together most of the time. Her sister wasn't any thing like her. She was a genius but very quite, and was one of those people who could never hurt a fly. Every time they had to move Karen watched her sisters back and did her best to keep her out of harms ways for bullies and such. It was mostly the reason why she hung around with the people she did. It taught her how to be tough.

At the age of 14 they moved to Boston and it was were they had been living up until the attack. Her mother had finally put her foot down and they stayed there. Her sister went off to collage that year so Karen was a lone for a bit. After a while her life, to her, got a bit boring until the aliens showed up. She had thought it was strange they didn't do anything but she left it alone, for a bit. On the day they attacked Karen had skipped school to go check out and climb the tower they had built, but she didn't really get close. Before she had reached it they had attacked. With out thinking Karen had took off back home making sure she wasn't killed in the first wave. It took a bit since the roads were full of flipped over cars, dead bodies and whatever else. Karen made it back home, but what she found didn't please her.

The living room had a hole in the wall and it was all torn up, along with the kitchen and dining room. When she got up stairs she came face to face with a skitter. Because she thought fast she caused it to become dazed for a bit while she took off down the stairs but it had caught up to her. It had pinned her onto the ground causing her to hit her head hard and she passed out a few moments after. When she came to she noticed she wasn't dead and her father and sister were with her. Neither of them knew about her mother so there goal was to go and find her. They had found nothing for a couple of days but that changed. Karen was trying to find food for her family when she found her mother, dead. She was underneath debris and part of a car. She felt sick to her stomach and instantly went back forgetting about the food. Her father wasn't to pleased to see her come back empty handed but when she tried to explain he understood. Her sister had cried, as well as her father, but she didn't.

Two a month had passed and they were doing fine on there own but while they were out scouting for some supplies they split up and Karen was instantly cornered. The skitters and Mechs had been fallowing them for a bit waiting for there chance. She wasn't defenseless, they had found a few guns, but it wasn't all that much. She shot at them aiming for the head but it didn't quite do the trick. She figured she was going to die but her sister shot one of the skitters right through the head distracting them for a bit while Karen slipped off. She was bout to try and help her sister when one of the Mechs fired hitting a wall with a couple of shelves on them. She was right next to it and she hit the ground, the debris fell onto her leg pinning her to the ground. She was screaming for her sister to run, but she decided to be stubborn and continued to fire. One of the Mechs got up behind her and fired and she was dead as soon as she was hit. Her blood flew every were, mostly landing on Karen though. After seeing this she was frozen almost instantly so she barely noticed the Mechs leaving and the Skitters climbing onto things to hid. Her father showed up as soon as they were 'gone' and tried to free her but the Skitters flew down from were they were hiding knocking him away while they killed him. All Karen could do was watch hopelessly. She thought she was going to be killed after they had finished up her father. She probably would have been dead, or caught, if it wasn't for the 2nd Mass showing up and saving her.

Karen hated them for saving her. She wanted to die, to be with her family and for a while she refused to speak to any of them, but soon she cracked and started to a boy named Hal. She was wary of him at first but soon got to be friends with him, and more. She grew closer to his family as well and thought of them as her own and vowed to protect them all with her life. She blames herself for the death of her family and she is not going to let that happen again. Ever since she found out about Hal's middle brother she promised to help get him back anyway possible. It was the least she could do for him. So she became a scout and a fighter for the 2nd Mass. In a way she likes it, killing those things that had killed her family, and helping out others along the way. She's had a few close calls at times but she made it through, she only hopes her luck will keep up until this is all over.
