Castle of Malondil

This is the beautiful moonbeam castle of Malondil, nestled in the very center of Cil'Mareth and separated from the rest of the city by a band of forest encircling it.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 03, 2011 1:58 pm

The sylvan man stalked through the forest, his footsteps not making the slightest of noises. The spectral-like branches of the trees intertwined together. Moonbeams flickered, leaving patches of light on the mossy surface of the earth.
The elf was Layle. He oft held his hand to his belted rapier, made of the finest mithrill. He was garbed with a dark tunic, leggings and a cloak. He moved carefully, making sure to not make unnecessary movements.

"Layle! Slow for a weary old man, will you?" Vanyre was no old man by elven standards, yet struggled to keep up with his twin brother. Golden hair and forest green cloak billowed out behind him as he ran. Unlike his brother, he was clad in hues of green and brown and gold, a bow and quiver on his back.
He pulled on his brother's tunic to slow him down, panting for breath.
"Ai, Anrotheni. Where are you going, brother?"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 03, 2011 2:45 pm

Hearing Vanyre's voice irked him. He looked to his direction, eyeing his brother with distaste. His twin looked nearly exactly the same as him, but they were not in the least the same in terms of personality. Layle was calm and nonchalant and silent, whereas Vanyre was the opposite, being boisterous.
Glaring at his brother, he said in an annoyed tone :
" Gods, you really can't shut up, can you? "
Ignoring his brother, he walked further on, quickening his pace; he didn't care if his brother followed. It started to grow darker. Whispering a simple incantation, Layle summoned orbs of floating lights, their hues flickering from pale cornflower blue to a deep crimson to emerald.
Soon he was there. The elf stood in a small clearing. A huge tree stood atop a small hill. A symbol that resembled Elven glyphs was inscribed upon the surface of the tree's trunk.
Layle climbed the hill, his hand clasped around the hilt of his rapier. He didn't want anyone to see he was here.
As he reached the top of the hill, he felt the surface of the tree, the orbs floating close. He felt the indentation, and traced his finger over the symbol carved upon the tree's trunk. He smiled. He bent down, and reached into a small gap on the trunk. He felt inside, and retrieved a piece of parchment.
He looked back to Vanyre.
" A letter from him. " :he said.

Vanyre looked from the missive to Layle and back again.
"Well?" he asked with barely contained excitement.
"Open it! What does it read?"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 03, 2011 3:10 pm

The tone and loudness of Vanyre's voice irked him, making his ears twitch.
He opened the parchment carefully. The words written were rushed and a bit sloppy, but still elaborately written, like calligraphy. He read the letter with a emotionless tone.

" Vanyre & Layle,
Greetings to both of you. I hope you fare well at the moment.
I cannot say, unfortunately, that fate has smiled upon me. We were recently raided, and most of our village is in ruins.
By who, I know not, but our spellcasters are tracing their essences and tracks using arcane means. We shall track them down soon.

May the stars shine upon you ;
Sythenil

The letter ended with the same symbol inscribed on the surface of the tree.

Light raven hair bounced on her mid back as she jumped to the next branch, agile muscles; used to the movements from years of training, moved under her tanned skin as the elf maiden stopped, hanging to the next branch with one hand as she caught her breath slowly, her green tunic hung loosely off her shoulders, the muscles of her legs bunched up in her crouched position. The elf bore a long bow and quiver of white, swan fetched arrows on her back as she stood at the height of six foot, five inches as she finally dropped down to the undergrowth landing hard on her knees.

"Aiya! Lova tyelka." ( Sindarin translation: Oh! Clumsy. ) She exclaimed, before she mumbled many curses under her breath.

Calsyel could hear the quiet nighttime whispering of the forest as she skillfully rode Senar's back. His soft white fur under her hand moving indescreetly in the light breeze and they traveled silently through the forest. Calsyel had no idea where they were heading, only that Senar had been there many times before and said that they would be safe from any pursuers.
The pair crossed a patch of moonlight shining through the thick trees overhead illuminating the pair. Senar was a great white wolf, of a breed that had long since been exctinct. With his shoulder the same height of an average mans Senar was a fearsome but breathtaking sight to behold in the light of the moon, his yellow eyes almost luminous.
The elf apon the wolf's back was equally as breathtaking with eyes the color of emeralds and hair whiter than snow. In a baggy green shirt the color of her eyes and pants the color of bark Calsyel would have blended into the forest quiet nicely if not for the fact that her hair was shining in the moonlight like a star.
Senar stopped suddenly as the melted into the shadow of the forest once more. He could see lights ahead, all of them different, radiant colors ranging from a beautiful blue to a dark red. He slowed his pace as he crept towards the lights curious to see what they were. Maybe spirits of the forest? Sensing Senar's suspicion Calsyel silently drew her bow and notched and arrow, ready for anything that may happen.

Something was wrong. Layle knew he was not alone.
Silently crouching and edging closer to Vanyre, as a jaguar does when she spots her prey, he whispered an incantation. His eyes glowed bright. The benevolent faerie lights around him turned into violent shades of crimson, midnight blue, and emerald. They surrounded the twin brothers, creating a circular halo of light that illuminated the entire forest for a moment. The effect was like a midsummer breeze, blowing outwards and bending the stalks of grass around him. Then the light diminished, dimming into nothingness. The orbs had created a fae circle, a ward that protected against most incantations and lessened the effects of arcane spells. Layle was wary of the dangers of eavesdroppers and pursuers; perhaps these were the people here. They may have tracked Synthenil down to this place.
Layle silently unsheathed his mithrill rapier, his right hand clasped firmly around the hilt, his left brushing against the beautifully crafted cross-guard of the rapier. He backed up, his back brushing against the elder tree.
" Take care; we are not alone. " :he whispered softly to his brother.

Calsyel and Senar were blinded by the brilliant light illuminating the forest. Then, just as suddenly as it appeared the light dissipated. Briefly, before the light had gotten too strong, Senar had glimsed two figures in the circle of lights. Now, as his eyesight adjusted in the darkness he could see the shadow outlines of the two.
Calsyel, crouched close to Senar's back, heard the rough voice of Senar insider her head. There's two of them, Senar told her, both male, both armed. Her hand tightened around the bow as she heard the news.
Should we try to go around them? She asked him mentally. Or approach them and try and make peace? Calsyel didn't want to fight, not here. Who knew what might see them fighting and come to investigate in the forest.

"I've noticed," Vanyre murmured, reaching for the bow on his back. "The forest does not appreciate the sudden light show. Lay off the magic, will you?" His eyes flickered to the elleth and her mount .
"Let me speak to them." Vanyre motioned to her.

Despite Senar's warnings that the pair may be dangerous Calsyel motions for Senar to step forward, still staying close to his back and a bow drawn and nocked in her hands. Senar looked like a ghost with his white fur and silent footsteps as he crept forward low to the ground never taking his eyes of the two.
As they approached Calsyel examined the man, no, the elf who had motioned them forwards. He was tall, like most elves, clad in a green cloak with a beautifull bow in his hand. His compaion was likely clad and armed with an amazing mithrill rapier. They looked as if they were kin of sorts, brothers perhaps, and both very comfortable with their weapons. If all went well Calsyel would not need to see how comfortable they were with them in battle.
Senar halted a few yards away from them and straighted to his full height, as tall as a large horse his shoulder coming to the mens head. Let me speak to them first, Calsyel told him. Some people, even elves, did not take a large speaking wolf well.
"Peace mellon," Calsyel said softly her deep green eyes resting on the elf who had motioned them forward. "We bare you no harm."

Sudden recognition flooded Vanyre and he fell to his knees, dragging Layle down with him.
"Lúva!" Vanyre hissed from the corner of his mouth. He lifted his eyes to the elleth and looked down again, stunned. Could a man be so beautiful?
"My most humble appologies, m'lord. We did not know it was you. Forgive us," he murmured.

Lúva! (Quenya)-- Bow!

((OOC: Thank you! OwO Your avatar is really nice, too! Hmm... lots of us are starting to use Tolkien Elvish. I likeses. <3 ))

So they knew who she was, even if they were a bit suprised. Calsyel exchanged a secretive glance with Senar. Depending on how well she played her cards this could turn into a favorable event, or be disastrous. During her short silence an owl hooteed off in the distance. Calsyel glanced in the direction of the call while speaking to them, "Rise friends, there is no need of such formality here." She turned serious eyes onto them. "Out here no man is above another."
Grimly Senar spoke aloud turning far too intelligent eyes onto the pair, "Yes, each man in just as likely to be killed if he is daft enough to stay out in the open for to long. We must find shelter quickly. Would you two know of such a place?" Senar's voice was deep and gravely, it had always reminded Calsyel of distant thunder. Senar didn't quite trust the two enough to comfortably share a camp, but it was best to keep an eye on potential enemies.

Layle glared at Vanyre as he was dragged downwards rather rudely by him. Pushed into an awkward position slightly akin of a bow, his hood fell atop his head, obscuring his face with shade. He thought quickly as Vanyre, in exclamation, greeted the man, calling him a 'lord'. He wasn't too sure if he knew the man or not, but it never hurts to play along, and so he did. He trusted Vanyre enough to know that he wouldn't put himself in a sticky position by lying about knowing someone.
He gazed upwards slightly. The man he was greeting was accompanied by a large wolf, which shone oddly in the moonlight. He had a savage air about him. His fur gleamed oddly, making him look like a phantom, perhaps a spirit.
He decided, then, to take them as far away from the Elder messenger tree. Cupping his overlapping hands and moving them closer to his mouth, he blew into them, imbuing the air around his palm with an incantation. The air slowed, compressed. Minuscule droplets of water formed seemingly out of nothingness, the globules of liquid splaying prismatic reflection everywhere. He breathed upon them again. The air slowed, the droplets glaciating into crystals of ice. Breathing upon them once more, the dusty flurries blew slowly, moving in unison northwards, away from the Elder tree.
He looked at the threesome, whispering softly.
"Come and follow; I know of a place where we can camp. Make haste; we are yet to be alone."
And northwards he bound into the forest, not waiting for them to follow.
