you should always have 4 lords. I haven't done well without them and they are your first priority for cloning because the clone will gain the lords abilities for being an illusion.
if your trying to be competetive draw is also good and mana leak is the 'in' counterspell for standard.
if the pump amongst those cratures isn't enough (and lets face it, it never is xD) grand architect gives +1/+1 to blue creatures and makes automatons easier to cast.

If you're keeping it standard, definitely include some form of counters and draw power. (Mana Leak/Cancel, Divination/Gixtaxian Probe) I was considering putting xenomorphs in my illusion deck to make my lords illusions... But it's a pretty high costing card to do just one thing, so I wasn't really sure.
If you're going for eternal formats, Krovikan Mist and Fathom Seer are good cards as well.

and for the next 3 months you still have zendikar block so I would highly recommend AEther Figment. It's pretty intimidating with a lord or 2 in play and late game the kicker makes it a better draw than bear

Inteth and for the next 3 months you still have zendikar block so I would highly recommend AEther Figment. I'm probably gonna take awhile to get some of these cards, so I think I'll look just for cards in the scars of mirrodin set and later.

No problem.
Now that you mention Scars, maybe a Pheyrexian Metamorph wouldn't be so bad either, it could almost act as your Phantasmal Image in the respects of copying your opponent's cards, but it could also copy your Lords/Automatons if need be. Not the best idea I have, but it might be useful if you're feeling a little light in creatures.
