Name: Jessamine Colbridge

Gender: Female

Actual Age: 147

Appearance Age: 19

Birthday: December 2, 1864

Race: Vampire

Alignment: Evil

Powers: Jessamine’s powers consist of enhanced speed, strength, senses, balance, endurance, and agility. She is able to transform herself into a bat at will and take flight. Powerful hypnotism through eye contact allows her to compel others into doing her bidding.

Abilities: One of Jessamine’s most useful abilities involve her talent of tracking other beings and animals by their distinct scent. Smaller injuries that are inflicted, such as cuts, can be healed on their own. Larger bodily harm must be repaired by drinking blood. There is no need for her to eat food or breathe, which allows her to spend long periods of time underwater.

Weapons: Jessamine’s most frequently used weapon are her fangs, which allow her to easily puncture and tear into her victim’s skin. They release venom into the blood stream, which occasionally causes them to black out. At all times, Jessamine has a pouch of sleek, extremely sharp throwing knives so she may inflict damage from a distance. In addition, she keeps a medium-sized scimitar that she has had since before she became a vampire for a sort of nostalgic, defensive comfort. The sword is long and narrow with a curved blade that leads to a sharpened tip. Cutting and slicing motions tend to be most effective.

Goals: Jessamine’s top priority has and will always be to take care of herself, whether or not it puts others in a dangerous situation. A personal goal of hers is to find an immortal man that she can wholly love, be her very best friend, and spend the rest of her time on Earth with. As for the always-present fight with good versus evil, Jess dislikes those who are too self-sacrificing and constantly feel the need to be the hero. She does not believe that any given individual can truly be “good” and those that assume themselves to be so are delusional. If and when a leader emerges for the darker, less understood beings, like herself, she will join the battle against the good.

A quest that Jessamine has been on since she became a vampire was to reveal the truth, if any existed at all, in several rumors she heard from an older vampire. It is believed by some that powerful witches and wizards can place protective spells on special material possessions, such as rings and pendants, to shield vampires from the curse of the sun that has suppressed them for so long. If the magic is done flawlessly, the vampire can roam freely in the sunlight while wearing the item. The second rumor involves werewolves and the thought that their bite to vampire's neck can be lethal. Jess has never met a vampire that has suffered a neck wound from a werewolf. Despite the fact that she has a great deal of curiosity surrounding this subject, and would like to reveal the truth, she does not hope to experience it first-hand.

Personality: While Jessamine used to be a young, naive girl full of virtue and compassion for all, the time spent as a vampire has brought about her new, detached demeanor toward humans. In fact, she scarcely experiences the overwhelmingly painful and emotional effects that she once felt while murdering and draining her victim of blood. It is now seen as simply her only option to survive. On a much lighter note, Jessamine is intensely loyal and passionate to only those she knows well, which are attributes that she kept despite her transformation from human to vampire. The friendships and enemies that come about as a result of her interactions last an eternity where immortality exists. Jessamine is a complete romantic, even if she refuses to admit it, and incredibly old-fashioned in many ways. A greatest hope of hers is to find a man that will treat her with great respect. Her often flirtatious and charming personality is an extremely deadly and effective means by which she draws in her victims, allies, and foes alike.

Interests: Jessamine is thoroughly intrigued by fashion design and the many styles that has been made popularized by people throughout the ages. Appearing attractive and beautiful to others has always been a great interest of hers. In dress, she favors lace and other frilly materials to look as precious as the bows she wears on her chest and in her blonde hair. High heels are naturally her choice of footwear to finish her feminine ensemble. Jessamine has a wide range of hobby-like interests, such as crafting her own clothing, dancing, makeup, cooking, baking, photography, painting, and modeling.

Pet Peeves: Jessamine detests people who treat others with disrespect, especially those with less authority, which can most likely be due to her upbringing. Those who consistently try to be the hero agitates the blonde vampire. She believes it is in poor taste to act too forwardly and aggressively in everyday conversations.

Flaws: Due to her ultimate interest of looking out for herself, Jessamine frequently comes across as a selfish individual. The lives that she destroys for her blood lust to continue living has less of an effect on her now than ever. A part of her is very aware of the fact that she is becoming less human with every barbaric act she does. The career that she held in her late teenage years forced her to become accustomed to attention, and without it, she feels neglected.

In battle, Jessamine has several very prominent weaknesses, like the classic wooden stake. One that is large and pointed enough and able to be pierced through her heart is enough to kill her, while any other area brings about severe pain. Sunlight has an intense burning effect when in contact with her skin if she has not consumed blood recently. The infected areas appear as if fire has scorched it, but it generally heals rather quickly when returned to the shadows. After a suitable feed, when she is most powerful, she is less photosensitive and is able to move about as she pleases in the sunlight. When Jessamine goes for too long of a period without blood, she becomes weak and frail. All powers and abilities are hindered.

Biography: Jessamine Colbridge was born on December 2, 1864 to William and Janine Colbridge in a rural area that was about a half of a day’s travel from the big city by horse and carriage. The first decade or so of her life was simple and comfortable; learning how to become an outstanding homemaker and loving mother and wife someday was her main objective and what was expected of her. By the time Jessamine was thirteen years old, she was capable of running all of the household affairs, caring for her two younger sisters, and carrying out several jobs on the farm. Sometime later, on one unfortunate day during William Colbridge’s journey back from the city after a long day of selling his farm goods, he was intercepted by a pair of bandits. The two men brutally robbed and murdered him. Mr. Colbridge’s death left a deep emotional and financial scar on the family from which they would not recover from until much later.

For about a year, Janine and Jess put forth their best efforts to manage the farm and keep it profitable, which was ultimately a failure. At sixteen, Jessamine was asked by her mother to seek a job as a maid in the nearby city to send money home to support the family. At least one other of her sisters would follow in her footsteps when they were old enough. In her search for employment, Jessamine met with a man, Mr. Bennett, who was a partial owner of a prominent hotel. He expressed a great deal of interest in hiring her, but revealed that if it were as a maid, it would be a poor decision on his part.

The hotel owned an attached restaurant and bar with a lounge that was frequented by many of the most influential politicians, aristocrats, and businessmen in the city. Jessamine Colbridge was hired by Mr. Bennett as one of several entertainers/dancers. She quickly learned how to appropriately act, dance, and create an enjoyable environment for all of the guests. Plenty of the young, affluent men who spent many of their evenings at the club had taking a liking to her and requested her company during their dinner when she was not performing on stage with the other girls. Jessamine became something of a star at the hotel and in that section of the city, partly due to her charming personality, which allowed her to send a considerable amount of money home.

A short time after Jessamine became of legal age, she met a businessman in his early twenties by the name of Warren Mariano, who she was wholly captivated by. His enchanting personality and desire to do great things in the world complimented his fascinating lifestyle. Warren had a certain attractive way in which he wore his expensive suits and styled his slightly curly, chestnut hair. The most alluring feature of all was Mr. Mariano’s deep, reddish-brown eyes, which were so entirely wonderful to peer into. The time the two spent together at the restaurant were of the most delightful moments she experienced. Flowers and other gifts were often given and sent to Jess as symbols of his affections, and this was what she hoped to be a sign of an eventual long-term commitment and marriage. The relationship progressed for about a year, and she turned nineteen years old.

One evening, Jessamine entertained a crowd with a solo dance routine taught to her by an excellent choreographer and good friend of hers. The first person she noticed in the dimly-lit room was Warren sitting at the front-center round table from the stage; he looked positively dashing in his black pinstripe suit. The performance and dinner hours were long over when Mr. Mariano invited Jessamine to his hotel suite to celebrate her success as a dancer and the relationship they shared with a bottle of wine. Inside the room, he made a toast and revealed a hope for their future, and spending the rest of forever together. Not unexpectedly, Warren leaned over to give Jessamine a soft, passionate kiss on her lips, which she returned sweetly. As they progressed, he trailed down to give her neck a few quick kisses; a sudden and sharp bite where Warren’s vampire fangs sunk into her soft skin nearly made her cry out. A scream got caught in Jessamine’s throat, and a whimper took its place. Only warily did her bright, blue eyes open to meet his, confusion sweeping over her delicate features as he placed his hands over her blonde hair and ears for a strong grip on her head. With one quick snap of the neck, Warren assisted her lifeless body to rest on the plush carpet, which was where he held her patiently for some time. When Jessamine woke, she was no longer human, but a being in the midst of turning into a vampire.
