The Dylan residence faces the ocean and one of Zoe's favorite places in the whole world. One cannot miss the Sun Sea and Fun here. Zoe grow up here with here twin brothers, Zen and Zach. Though only Zoe, the youngest of the Dylans turned out to be magical, it never changed how her brothers or parents felt about her. Mrs. Dylan, who was making some pancakes for breakfast one Sunday morning, had hit the Hogwarts representative -who apearated in the middle of Dylans' kitchen by mistake to deliver the message that changed all of Dylans' lives forever- on the head with the saucepan, thinking he was an intruder. Zen, who happens to be a karate champion, had leap on to him, roaring in Japanese, without asking a word. He had had to use the "Protego" charm to knock Zen back. Mr. Dylan and Zach, who had been washing the car, had entered the kitchen to check out all the commotion when a scared Zoe had created a tantrum of wind knocking everyone hard to the kitchen floor.
So began Zoe's years at Hogwarts. She still spends her summers and Christmases here in home practicing karate with Zen, surfing the sea with Zach and describing the never ending excitement of the world of Magic to her curious and loving family.

Zoe who was feeling a little sick threw all her breakfast she has just had at Changs' all over Zach. Gwahh! Zach yelped, disgusted. Sorry Zach, that floo traveling always make me sick. Zoe said walking in not so straight lines towards her room. I need some sleep.

As Zoe's feet touched the sandy yard of her home she couldn't help but spin good two rounds on the spot and fell on her back. She hastily stood up dusting off the sand. Professor Nikolai was right next to her. See professor, there is nothing weird going on. She smiled. Now that you are here I'll introduce you to my parents. Zoe said walking towards the front door which was ajar. Mom! Dad! Zoe called stepping in. See who's here. But there came no answer. MOM! Zoe yelled a little louder. The living room was deserted. They're probably in the pantry. Said Zoe looking at Professor Nikolai.
They were in the pantry alright. Both of them. sitting on two chairs. with weird expressions on their faces and unearthy looks in their eyes. Mom? Dad? Zoe, who stopped dead on her steps, called. This time there was uncertainty in her voice.

A figure walked out of the shadows. A figure that slightly reminded Zoe of the dementors she had seen on books. He lowered his hood and revealed himself to be an ancient looking man. A wide crazy like grin on his withered face. Ah-ha! He cackled. I've found you! He said taking a step towards Zoe and the headmistress. He was acting like the headmistress wasn't even there. As if he hadn't seen her. Come now. Let us leave this filthy muggle hut.

 Headmistress Lillian Van Nikolai
Lillian was relieved at first but grew suspicious when no one answered. An ancient man stepped out of the shadows and headed straight towards them. Was he stupid? Did he not see her standing right there? Expelliarmus!" She shouted at once, pointing her wand at the man. She caught his wand deftly and glared at him curiously. He hadn't even cared about her being there apparently, but he certainly would now that she had his wand. Something definitly wasn't right with Zoe's parents, they looked dazed. "Who are you, and what happened to Mr. and Mrs. Dylan?" She demanded.

The man shot a look at Lillian for the first time as his wand flew out of his hand. Why do you care? They're muggles. He said impatiently, waving a hand. Then again he turned to Zoe. Come girl. You are too precious to be left behind. Your blood is. But Zoe wasn't there. She had crept to her parents and shaking them madly whispering 'mom', 'dad'.
You don't need them child. Said the man grumpily. Now that your great grand father is here. He then turned to Lillian. You look like a wise witch. Why don't you tell her to come with me? See, I'm her great grand father and I need her blood to live a little longer. You know the magical blood of the Blythes is almost extincted. So she needs to go with me. It'll be a waste if she does not. See I've already killed her father. The useless droplet of the filthy squib son of mine. I'm gonna have to kill you all if I must.. Zoe stared, utterly confused.

Lillian was completely bewlidered, but didn't like what she was hearing. The vacant stares of Zoe's parents were scaring Zoe and it killed Lillian to see her shaking them as if she was trying to wake them. He needed blood to live longer? What was he talking about? She twirled her wand, binding the man's hands and feet together with thick ropes. "Explain yourself. Now. " Lillian demanded, pointing her wand as well as the man's wand at his chest. "Who are you exactly and what are you doing here?" She was pretty good at telling when people were lieing. If she had a single doubt, she would get veratesirum and 3 drops would have him spilling everything. Either way, it looked like Azkaban would have another prisoner. She felt a pang of guilt remembering Rhiannon was in there. She only dropped the guilty people off to the ministry, she wasn't an auror so she couldn't go and visit Azkaban at any time. She had to see Desdemona, but that had been a special case considering what the woman had done. Lillian knew how horrible it was in there herself after being held there for a short while and she hated the memory of the dementors swarming in her head now.

Zoe stepped forward as the man was bound by Lillian. She had her wand clenched in her fist. Before Lillian could stop her Zoe jumped and pointed the wand directly at the man's heart. What-did-you- do-to-them? She demanded as fear was replaced by hatred. what are you talking about? My father is sitting right there? Zoe spat prodding the man's filthy robes with the tip of her wand. ANSWER ME! she shouted as the man beamed at her. You have the Blythe fire in you! He said nodding happily. Zoe called Lillian without taking her eyes off the roped man. Professor make him talk. she added in a small voice, please.

Lillian sighed, the man wasn't talking. "I think it's the Imperius curse, but I can't be sure." She said to Zoe. She stared at the parent's faces for a moment. "Only one way to find out...VIBRATO." She shouted the name across the room and the phoenix appeared with a flash on her shoulder. Phoenixes were extremely loyal pets who showed up whenever their owner called them and was in true need of them. He sang softly on her shoulder for a moment before Lillian whispered to the soft bird and he vanished, only to reappear a second later with a small bottle in his talons. Lillian took it, and Vibrato vanished once again, this time he didn't reappear. Lillian glared at the man bound by the ropes and stepped over to him. She wrenched his jaw open wide and dropped three drops of clear veratesirum in his mouth. "Tell me what you are doing here, what you have done to Zoe's parents and what you want Zoe for." She said fiercely.

Man twisted madly as he was forced to drink the clear, colourless and odourless potion. The Veritaserum started to take effect. The man went rigid and started talking in a mechanical manner. I am Alberto Blythe. I have used the imperious curse on the two muggles and before that the Cruciatus Curse just for the pleasure of watching. Zoe is my great grand daughter. My son was a squib and he had a son who feared magic of all things. Zoe's mother died giving birth to her. When Zoe turned out to be magical he gave her up to those muggles and disappeared. I'm so close to death and I need her blood to perform the noble magic to lengthen my life span. I've been tracking her for almost 10 years. He finished with no emotion at all. Zoe stared, chalk white in face. She knew the man is on Veritaserum and is telling the truth. But how can she believe him. It just can't be.

Lillian's eyes widened and she was horrified. She looked over at Zoe's muggle parents more carefully now and noticed a couple thing cuts on their faces where the torture curse had left marks. It wasn't too bad, they weren't too badly hurt, but they were no doubt shaken. "They'll be okay Zoe." She said, looking at the two parents. She would've said this is why I wanted to come with you, but now was definitly not the best time to say it. "So you killed Zoe's real father." She said calmly, remembering what the man had said earlier. It was over, he had finished there was nothing more to say. She gagged the man and snapped his wand in half. The imperius curse should break for the muggles now, but Lillian was too busy to look, too upset on Zoe's behalf. She remembered other things, horrible situations, as if a dementor were in the room. Zoe had to suffer realizing her real parents were gone. At least she hadn't lost someone she was close to? But still, what comfort was that right now. She thought of Lucas's story, his friends being ripped apart before his eyes. Of Desdemona, torturing her and herself writing those horrible laws. Of her daughter's story, where she couldn't be there for Al and Al had to see both her caretakers pass on and hand her to an orphanage. Of Rhiannon, in Azkaban, her father a death eater and her mother possibly worried sick at home. Rhiannon screaming in complete sorrow as the pearls were ripped off her neck by a dementor's rotten hand.
Why did horrible things happen to good people?

Zoe watched as her parents, or the two she believed to be, jerked awoke of their dreamy state as Lillian snapped the wand. They were horrified. They looked at Zoe in terror. Their bruised faces darting on the three people standing in their pantry. Confused, horrified, battered and wounded. Watching them, Zoe felt the hatred rise to her head and heart once more. Foster or not, they were the only parents she knew for her entire life. The man's story was like some news paper article read out loud to her. Blinded by hatred towards the man who just hurt her folks, Zoe yelled the very spell he used on them. The spell she had only read but never dreamed of using. CRUCIO!The hatred gathered in her soul ran through her fingertips and out her wand directly to the man's chest.

"NO, ZOE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Lillian yelled. She knew Zoe wouldn't go to Azkaban like Rhiannon did, since Rhiannon had done it pointlessly, but she couldn't stand watching her student, a young student use the spell. She tried to scream, to pull the wand away from Zoe but it was no use and there was no time, the man was twitching and yelling through his gag and his eyes were rolling. Just like hers had done when she was gagged by Desde...just like her...
Whether she was insane or brave, it was debatable. She shoved her own wand in her pocket. If she disarmed Zoe, the curse may hit the muggles again. Instead, she jumped infront of the man's chest, where Zoe's wand had been pointed and recieved the spell herself. Immediattly she felt the familiar indescriabable pain surging through her body. Her very bones were on fire and she was at the mercy of her very own student. Her eyes were rolling in her skull, she had no idea where she was...it was pain beyond pain and she yelled to the heavens, vaguely seeing the faces around her, but not really seeing them at all. Deep down though, she knew she'd done something right. Now Zoe would see what blind hatred looked like if she was doing it to her own Professor...right?

Zoe wanted nothing more than to see the man suffer. Her teeth were clenched and her eyes were merciless. She did not hear Lillian yell. She did not realize how un-Zoe-like she felt. As the man's eyes rolled in their sockets someone had jumped in between. Zoe only got a fraction of second to get the fact registered that her headmistress was standing between her and her pray. She was screaming, screaming like her nerves on fire. Zoe ears were going numb. Professor Nikolai's screams were ringing on her ears, her head. What are you doing Zoe? A small voice inside her asked. She dropped her wand and crawled backwards. Her eyes widen in shock on realization of what just had happened. What she had done. Zoe watched as Lillian collapsed on to the floor. She jumped forward and shook her madly. Professor! PROFESSOR! No No NOO!

 Headmistress Lillian Van Nikolai
Lillian clutched her stomach and just stayed on her knees for a few moments, gasping in pain. She was shaking and felt ready to vomit. She closed her eyes for a moment and took deep steadying breaths. She felt the eyes of the man on her, apparently suprised that she's just jumped in between them. She shakily got to her feet and brushed off her sleeves. She pushed her hair out of her eyes and looked down at Zoe, not unkindly, but looking serious.
"I'm fine, but I couldn't let you sink to his level." She said calmly. She put one of her hands on Zoe's shoulders and looked into Zoe's eyes. "No matter what he's done, no matter how cruel and hopeless he is, you have the potential of being more than that. Don't let yourself sink to his level no matter how horrible you feel. Understand?"
She felt better now, just aching a bit. Now she understood how Fionna felt. She'd almost finally forgotten the pain Desde had caused. Still, if Desde could change, maybe this man could as well. With another pang, she wondered if Rhiannon would change...it had been two days almost, it would be soon...just one day would be enough to scar her forever, she'd been in there less than a month to wait for a trial. Even if she was innocent, even if what she did was justified, showing magic to muggles so they wouldn't attack her husband...she still ended up there. She couldn't let the same happen to Zoe. Not another student with their whole lives ahead of them.
