xxxxxIntroduction

Welcome to our 'Create a Sphere' thread, here you will learn everything there is to know about the creation of spheres and how they work on a level that even the inhabitants don't understand. Once you have read this post, you will understand what a sphere is, how to categorise them, how to know what a sphere is going to contain just by looking at its symbol and more importantly, how to create one!

If you want to know how Spheres are categorised, I would suggest reading everything in this post. For those that aren't really fussed about learning what different types or Sphere there are and just want to throw people or things at each other to see who and what makes the biggest bang, scroll past all of the Vio information down to 'Populating a Sphere' and read the information there.

I will be honest, when posting an entry, it will show if you have read everything here because there is an amount of knowledge that will be evident in the application. For example if you answer the question "Passage of time percentage:" with 'Umm, a lot slower than normal', I will know that you haven't read the time section.

That is not to say just because you haven't read everything that we will reject your ideas. I am not saying that we will take all of an idea either. If part of your submission is solid gold but other parts could be improved upon, then we will take the part that is amazing and credit that (providing you give permission) and tack on some improvements before it is taken to the next stage of development.

xxxxxDefinition of a Sphere

A Sphere is sometimes known as a world or to some a 'planet'. Though these two names are incorrect. The name 'Sphere' comes not from the surface of what ever 'world' it contains but instead from the large invisible mana-fold around it. The Sphere is a protective sphere around a given habitable land mass or masses. If a person refers to world, they are usually referring to the masses inside. For reference, the name of any given 'world' is actually the name of the Sphere protecting it though very few of the inhabitants of a sphere know of the shield's existence.

xxxxxThe Vio and defining a Sphere's Information

Before a name, a Sphere is designated a symbol that conveys more information than would be obvious at first. The symbol is called a 'Vio' which roughly translates from the angelic tongue to 'designation'. This symbol of designation conveys most of the basic data of what a given Sphere contains. How to translate a Vio into something understandable is explained below.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The Vio is made up of many segments. The one to the left is blank, this is because all of the segments are black which means they convey no information.

The Vio (when formatted) has 5 shades and each shade carries a numeric value, the list is as follows:

xxx██ is 0
xxx██ is 1
xxx██ is 2
xxx██ is 3
xxx██ is 4

With this in mind we can decode the Vio using the following tables. I have split each section up so you can see how it works.

╠══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╣

The first three vertical blocks (in red) tell you what kind of world exists within the sphere. They range from a standard spherical world to flat worlds or sometimes more exotic shapes.

The top left box refers to its main type of which there are four. I have put the number code next to each of them.

1 is 'Flat'
2 is 'Spherical'
3 is 'Exotic'
4 is 'Distorted'

Flat Worlds:
Flat worlds are worlds that exist on a flat surface instead of a spherical one. Gravity pulls down and if someone manages to step off of the edge of a flat world, the will fall until they hit the Sphere before passing through it and into The Abyss (and cease to exist). Flat worlds are usually still quite dense and mile, if not tens of miles deep even at their thinnest part. Flat worlds retain basic geography such as mountains and oceans, though what happens to water if it flows off the edge of a flat world is unknown.

Spherical Worlds:
A spherical world is a world shaped like a ball. Gravity pulls towards the centre and a person could walk or travel all the way around and end up where they started. It is extremely difficult to accurately map a sphere shaped world because of its nature. All attempts to map one without mapping it onto another sphere shape result in distortions and inaccuracies.

Exotic Worlds:
Exotic worlds still refer to shape rather than landscape or plant life. An exotic world usually has a strange shape to it, such as a cube or a taurus shape. Some worlds may be cones, some might be elongated versions of a sphere. Gravity works in different ways on each of these worlds and it is impossible to define a single rule for such a large category.

Distorted Worlds:
Sometimes known as 'spacial' worlds. Here the land masses are non existent, sometimes they exist, sometimes they don't. Inside a Sphere marked 'distorted' time and place are just perception. The distorted world is usually one in transition, a project ending and being reformed into something anew. Gravity does not always exist and it is not always logical. A person may jump and continue moving upwards where as a person may fall right past them at the same time.

The next two blocks will tell you how many separate land masses there are. What this refers to is how many completely separate areas of mass exist within the sphere rather than how many visible islands are on one mass connected underwater. The number will never be more than 10. There is a logical numbering system to this though because of only being able to use two number and those being 1 to 4 it is a little more complicated than simply running from 1 to 10.

The Vio can't tell us if they are all at the same level or if some are higher or lower than others.

The four blue blocks that are situated to the right of the red blocks denote the size of the sphere. This is just a limitation of the sphere boundary and just limit the sizes of the land masses within. If a sphere is huge, the land masses may still be small. Sphere size isn't determined by an exact measurement of meters or miles but rather by a category. They range from Litani being the smallest, to Gigaia being the largest. Below is the table showing biggest to smallest

The two blocks at the bottom left shown in purple denote the gravity of a sphere. More accurately, it defines how strong that gravitational pull is upon all existing things upon the land masses inside. There are only two blocks needed because gravity falls into three categories and then has a modifier. For example; If gravity is inactive, the second block will be black. If gravity is active and normal the second block again will be black but if gravity is active and modified, the second block will be coloured to tell us in what way it is modified.

The long first block tells us whether gravity is in effect inside the sphere and if so, is it at a standard level (for reference, standard would be what we are used to instead of being any stronger or weaker).

Long Block:

xxxGravity Inactive
xxx████0
xxxGravity Active: Normal
xxx████1
xxxGravity Active: Modified
xxx████2

The short second block, when active, tells us how much stronger or weaker gravity would be. There is an explanation below explaining the various levels.

Short Block:
xxxLargely Increased
xxx1
xxxMarginally Increased
xxx2
xxxMarginally Decreased
xxx3
xxxHeavily Decreased
xxx4

Gravity Inactive
Inside a Sphere where gravity is inactive, life is dangerous. Beings and untethered objects float in straight lines until they meet resistance. This means being kicked could have a person floating towards the edge of the sphere and beyond. Races born into this situation find ways to exist even without gravity, often even their bodies are adapted to it.

Gravity Active: Standard
Most spheres are standard in gravity. Throwing an object or jumping gets a predictable result of it in time meeting resistance and falling back to the ground. Falling and hitting one's head will cause an injury and water remains in an open container provided it is upright.

Gravity Active: Modified

xxx[Marginally Increased]
Inside a sphere where gravity has been marginally increased, inhabitants will find it harder to jump, will find it takes more effort to get distance when throwing an object and stresses make buildings need to be reinforced in order to not crumble under their own weight.

xxx[Heavily Increased]
A sphere with heavily increased gravity has many changes. Most races will have adapted smaller bodies yet be more dense and stronger in structure. Objects can rarely be thrown long distances and races are at constant war to stay upright. Some races adapted to this form of gravity might find that they are considered super powered when in a world with normal gravity strengths.

xxx[Marginally Decreased]
Most races take comfort in the fact that falling will not cause so much of an injury. They also notice that they are able to move more swiftly and take larger, longer strides. Object can be lifted with ease and there isn't so much a concern when dropping things.

xxx[Heavily Decreased]
Spheres where heavily decreased gravity exists are strange environments to live on. Plants grow hugely in comparison to heavier gravity based environments. Races are usually hyper mobile and are almost able to fly with the height and distances they can jump and land with ease.

╠══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╣

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.xxxxxMana Density

The two green blocks on the right side of the Vio show Mana Density. Mana density is a measure of the ratio of Awakened mana that floats about and through everything, ready to be used in spell craft VS Dormant mana that exists within the land masses, the inhabitants and every object inside the sphere.

The density effects the chances that any race is going to evolve to understand or sense the mana in their environment and the chance that they will use it. The density also effects how effective or destructive a spell could be. A caster coming from a low density world and casting a moderately powerful fireball spell in a heavily dense world would find the fireball grows much faster and larger than expected and there is a high probability that they would blow themselves up.

Like above with gravity the first block (the left block) shows the category. In this case 'is normal' or 'is not normal' if the first is true, the second block will be black meaning that it is irrelevant. if the latter is true, the second block will show how far from normal the Sphere is in terms of its mana density.

First block:
xxxIs Normal
xxx1
xxxIs NOT Normal
xxx2

The second block is the modifying definition. These aren't put into worded categories but rather rough percentages. Higher percentages mean high Awakened mana density. The easier it is to cast spells (or blow yourself up), the higher the chance that races develop psychic abilities or use mana rather than physical strength. The lower the density, the less the races rely on mana, the less chance a mage will be born and the lower the chance that any form of spell use will evolve over time.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.xxxxxTime

The square of orange blocks at the bottom right denote the passage of time within a sphere. It might come as a shock to people but time is relevant to a sphere, so by stepping out of your home sphere for an hour then deciding to go back could have a profound change on the home sphere. For example if the ratio was +100% on a sphere and a person's home sphere was +0%. When they step out for that hour, two hours would have passed in their home sphere.

Like many of the other sections there is main block (the large one on the left side of the square) and there are modifier blocks which sit to the right. Unlike the other categories, there are two sets of modifier blocks and only one is ever active at a time. If the top block is active, the bottom block will be black and vice-versa.

First block:
xxxIs Normal (+/-0%)
xxx1
xxxIs NOT Normal
xxx2

If the first block defines that the passage of time is not normal, the second blocks will tell you how much faster or slower than the normal it is. If it is faster, the top block will denote how much faster and the bottom will be black. If it is slower, the bottom will show the modifier and the top will be black. If on the other hand the first block defines time as passing normally, both second blocks will be black.

The top right blocks coloured in brown tell you where about in the Illitus mechanism the world is designated to fit. This one a little more complicated than the other segments in its coding.

The large backwards r shaped block tells you which arm it is meant to be a part of or whether it is meant to fit into one of those arms at all.

xxx██0 - Part of the 'Ellitoisha' (centre Ring)
xxx██1 - part of the 'Kirtahii' (North Ring)
xxx██2 - part of the 'Milltahii' (East Ring)
xxx██3 - part of the 'Vestahii' (South Ring)
xxx██4 - part of the 'Gleitahii' (West Ring)

The smaller inner block tells you how far from the centre of the rings that the Sphere is meant to sit. For example, a zero here (denoted by a black block) means it sits in the centre of the ring. Nihility is an example of a Sphere sitting in the centre of the Ellitoisha. Millois sits at the center of the Milltahii. Other then the central ring, the rings take the name of the Sphere at the center of them.

xxx██1 - Centre of the ring
xxx██2 - First Orbit of the ring
xxx██3 - Orbiting a Sphere on the first Orbit
xxx██4 - Orbiting a Sphere on the second Orbit.

xxxxxPopulating a Sphere

This section of the thread will talk about living on a Sphere and populating one with both sentient races and animals along with plant life. We have to consider many things while we throw pants at a mass of land hoping they will stick, these following paragraphs will give you a firm basis on which to develop an idea.

When trying to come up with an idea for a sphere there are many approaching that I have tried and succeeded or failed with but the two that work best for me are almost polar opposites. Read the following approaches and as you read through the rest of the information you can decide what suits you more:

The Cascade:
The first is to start from the foundation and work up. What this means is deciding a world type, its gravitational effects, how time passes etc etc. When you have a rough idea of how the physics work, you can start to think about how they would effect races living on that Sphere. For example, high gravity would mean tall thin weak races would die out, dwarves would be perfect for populating a high gravity world. Mana density could play a part in it, a low mana density sphere would mean that very few mages exist, this could be great for telling a story where magi are either feared or worshipped because of their rare ability. Around this idea you could develop societies, magi rule kingdoms with their powers and are so fearful of being killed by another magi, that they have their loyal subjects go to war for their survival. Battles fought, blood spilled, all because of a small planet with very little mana... It all springs from some basic rules of Sphere Physics and cascades into some great idea.

My example here are the duel ring worlds. Technically I wanted more than one land mass in a sphere but I wanted them to be interesting. I came up with a doughnut shaped world where people could live all over the surface. I figured which such a strange world why not make the other details pretty mundane. Then an idea hit me, why not have two interlinking worlds the rotated through each other and I could put populations on each one. So I had my world shape, I figured that gravity would be normal in the sense that even though the worlds were doughnut shaped, they would still pull people to the inside of the part they were standing on both doughnuts having its down gravity. I figured mana would be low, these worlds were strange enough without mana and magi blowing them apart. So low mana meant technology would probably be what evolves rather than magic. Then the story came from that, two small doughnut worlds rotating through each other like to links in a chain, their surfaces so close that if people looked up, they could actually see people standing on the other world. This gave the idea of imagining the people trying to make contact with each other, firing arrows with messages attached. then cannons with ropes and figuring out that the worlds kept moving and the ropes snapped. They had to keep with messages, that meant language were always similar if not the same... but at some point one of the civilisation decided to take it a step further to actually meet the others and a tower project was born. Both worlds would build a tower at an exact height and angle that when they passed, a person could be scooped from one tower into the other and pass from world to world. I figured I would have role-play on this world start as the tower nears completion and the people close to meeting for the first time.

This is how i could start at the beginning, with a world and populate it logically because of its perimeters and develop as story on top of the details.

Justification:

The opposite is the finished idea that needs to be justified. The perfect example was the fact that I needed a world for my exiled Vyre to live and hide from the Angelae. To hide, they would need to have little contact with any other race, preferably be somewhere where both visual hiding places and a place where lots of mana could cover their traces. I just needed to justify the idea and flesh it out.

I knew the Vyre needed to feed off of the living to survive as they could no longer feed from raw mana so they needed to be near some race but stay un-noticed. The idea of throwing them together with a race of elves seemed really off the wall and justifying it seemed difficult at first but as time went on and as I started writing it, the idea made more and more sense. A world that had high amounts of mana, slightly lowered gravity and slowed time would give the elves a huge playground to live in. If I then covered that whole world in a dense jungle even better, with low gravity and high mana, the plants could absorb it and grow so much more vigorously than those on other worlds so I decided why not have the trees almost a mile high? The elves live high up in the trees, where the light still penetrates and that is where they like to stay. If I dropped the Vyre on the floor, where it is perpetually dark, the two races would rarely ever have any contact, which is good, I didn't want the elves really knowing about the vyre.

I needed a reason to get them to cross paths every so often, so I gave the elves a reason to go lower into the forest. In a ritual of them coming of age, they needed to venture far lower into the jungle where the greens fade and where the only lights come from the photo-luminescence of the living creatures that live nearer the jungle floor. It would be a test of skill and encouraging to venture into the darkness and catch a single luminescent insect and bring it back up to the heights of the elven villages. The challenge here was the fact that the lower down the brighter and more purple the insects would glow. At lesser depths the insects gave of little light and were more blue in colour. So with this ritual elves would drop down to the depths to prove their courage and skill at avoiding the poisonous things that live in the darkness and it would give the vyre a chance to catch them.

This gives the perfect setting for the vyre, a home in secret where they can bide their time but are not strong enough to make a difference yet, they know about the elves but the elves only have superstitions about what lives down in the depths. You get two rich cultures, a huge landscape that exists in multiple layers, the chance for hugely exotic wildlife, biomes that change depending on height in the jungle rather than longitudinal direction.

And that was how I had the story and slowly managed to justify it. Starting with the idea and worked backwards to fill in the blanks and make the story plausible.

Now we have our methods... Let's move on to YOU creating your own world!

╠══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╣

xxxxxThings to Consider!

So here we are, about to create our own world, we need to figure out what we want so a good one to start with is what races are going to live there. Let's begin there:

xxxxxThings to Consider: Throwing races at each other!

I would suggest that when you come up with a race list you think of the links between them and limit the number. For example if you want a world where there is a lot of different races, limit yourself to 4 very different races and at a stretch 2 or 3 extra similar ones. If you include humans, The courts, Guilds and The Artisans can all live very close to each other and interact or trade. These three alone could have and interesting story where the Courts follow the angel teachings, the Artisans don't really care for religious dogma and just want to create and progress as a people but the Courts keep interfering with progress. The guilds move in their own ways for their own agenda and could help either side depending on the gain for themselves.

If you're wanting a warring world, the easy way to do this is to throw some warrior dwarves, a couple human warrior clans and the tokrin in there for a primal all out blood-fest where only the strong survive. Into this you could mix it up with a new threat like orks or maybe even lichs and zombies that would unite the warring nations in defence of their overall survival, could blood enemies set aside their history of thousands of years of war to fight off an enemy that threatens to kill them all? Bitter friendships and volatile treaties could ensue.

Even the elves aren't united all of the time, the dark elves were exiled... where do their allegiances lay now? would they now be the enemy of all elves? would they only want revenge on their past kin?

Elementals, ghosts, pixies, these are powerful little creatures that live on their own usually but imagine the chaos or even the power they could bring if they were to ally to a race?

I'll leave you to think over these 'what ifs', thinking on this, I suggest you head back over to the race thread and re-read what the races are all about. Remember, if your world or ideas get chosen, by default, the race descriptions will be shaped to your world!

xxxxxThings to Consider: To blow myself up or to cry that I can't lift a stick!

If you read the top section about Vios, you would have seen all of the variables to do with everything inside a sphere that isn't living. From the shape of land masses to the effects of gravity to how easy it would be to cast magic. Now we're going to have a practical look at them and apply them to our Race-based conkers game I mentioned above.

First off. Mana... Now I did already speak at length about mana and how it could effect a whole Sphere but I will talk about it again and apply it to the examples above in hope of developing a bit more of a detailed picture for examples.

So our first example was the warring world. If mana was in abundance you might want to switch out some of the warrior clans and throw in whole legions of spell weavers or add in elementals or demi-gods that would rain fire down on their enemies for if mana was that high, people would notice it and over time it would seep into their very being until unknowingly they would transition into a race that had the ability to use spells.

Think about gravity now. Imagine the wars in high gravity, the races fighting would have to be so densely built and so strong. Positions for higher ground would be invaluable, imagine how much a bunch of rocks does damage now when it falls off of a cliff. Imagine if for their size, every rock weighed double and all you had to do was push until it fell?

Now imagine the opposite. Imagine the smallest of children being able to throw a spear over two hundred meters with the smallest of effort. Imagine races that could fight in the air suspended for extended moments before softly landing and checking for injuries.

Swinging away from battle, imagine the effect gravity would have on building. The higher the gravity's strength, the harder it would be to build on top of blocks. Buildings would be long and shallow, cities would spread wide (if there was enough strength to do this at all) Dwarves would most lightly tunnel downwards to save the strength of lifting axes high.... but with out the hindrance of gravities pull, imagine how high buildings could be? building on top of building on top of building, on top of mountains, without so much of the weight, people could almost throw bricks up to each other and if not, the simplest of cranes could do the job.

This is thinking gravity is an issue at all. Imagine a sphere now without the constrictions of gravity at all. Where there is no up or down. No right way or wrong way to build... forget people for a moment, how would this effect the landscape. I imagine huge rocks floating in space, where trees grow up and down and sideways. Where grass doesn't know which way to sway. Where when people start to populate, their houses are strange cages that instead of being designed to protrude from the ground, are designed to stop people falling away from it. I imagine races that use both hands and feet to move around and those that are too scared of the explosive effects to use magic even if they know what it is.

So we touched a little on land masses, what about shapes of the land? Flat Vs Sphere. A sphere world holds the familiarity that we all know but a flat world has edges a person could fall off... but would anyone ever dare sail so far? Now what if the flat world was made of many fragmented shelves some above and bellow. If people inhabited all of them, surely they would make attempts to reach each other either using magic or advance technology to the point that maybe via some form of steam-punk airship, they could travel between them... and then what happens? you've been looking at another civilization for hundreds of years watching the ones bellow you prosper in their luscious green environment while your plateau slowly withers away... Do you off trade? Or do you attack and occupy!

xxxxxThings to Consider: A whole new world of experiences!

With all of these questions, throw in some history, be it hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of years and you have a world so complex that it doesn't even need to have connections to any other sphere, people wrapped up in their lives to so much of a degree that someone coming in from another world, or a thinning of the divide and chaos could break out, a mage from another world suddenly starts blowing up a village or an elemental travels to a world that has never seen magic. What about those that have lived without magic suddenly come across a world without it? Imagine the experiences that they would have seeing an environment so alien that that they have to question the very nature of the histories and laws of nature that they have been told since birth... had they been lied to or did their ancestors really not know that these new worlds exist?!

╠══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╣

xxxxxGetting Involved!

Assuming you've read everything now, assuming your pulse is up, heart beating fast, you have an idea and want to get it down, you're ready to make a mark. Create a whole new world that people, maybe many people possibly hundreds or thousands are going to read about and live in. Let's get it written down. Bellow is the form, Naming the sphere is irrelevant same with the number so we'll leave those out.

Don't fill in this, this is just the explanation of headings:

Type: Is your world a Sphere in shape, is it flat? Is it exotic? Just give a single word here and detail it below.
Size: Using the sizing categories above, just how big is it (Consider Earth to be in the Largest category)
Gravity: Is the gravity normal or modified? Does it have gravity at all?
Mana Density: How dense is mana, higher, lower or just right?
Passage of time: In relation to our time, how much time would have passed there?
Occupying Races: Who are we throwing together here, dwarves and pixies! HELL YEAH!
Description of Sphere: this is where you get to tell us what the land looks like, what about plants? is the water purple? is the sky green?
Story: Give us a little of the information of your world how do the people interact, where did their wars start. Leave it on cliff hanger so we know where the role play starts.
Reasons: This isn't needed but give us the reasons you came up with some of the information, it might give us a better understanding of where to go with it and how to flesh it out and yet stay true to your cocepts

Description of Sphere:xxxxx

Nihility is a sphere world within a sphere shell. It is a green world of uninteresting landscape. It is possible to walk from one spot, continually around the world and return to the same spot virtually unobstructed and within the passage of a few days. For the most part Nihility is covered in a rich green grass with a few hills and a single mountain. It contains a large azure blue lake that takes up approximately 15-20 percent of its surface. Another 30 percent is covered in trees within a forest.

The most interesting feature on the surface of Nihility is the city from which the world and sphere take their name. The city of Nihility is large in comparison to the world's other land marks and could house a few thousand people. It has ten meter high marble walls that are half as thick as they are high. The houses and buildings are of grand design, also being made out of a grey marble.

The city is divided up into nine slightly unequal sections which for the most part are separated by buildings defining the boundaries. The Ninth section sits in the center of the city and is separated by an unnatural river that sits the central section on its own island. This section holds a huge cathedral, this cathedral is known as 'the Sanctuary'.

Beneath the surface of Nihility is where the interesting and important structures hide. Nihility is the central component of the Illitus and thus it is the one world that has control over the fate of all others.

Directly below the city there are cellars and below those, only accessible from the Sanctuary are the catacombs but below these are more interesting components. There is a huge library of books written in many millions of languages on all subjects of information, arts and histories. This library chamber is five floors high and contains all of the information that the 'Ones Before' collected before they vanished.

Below this library sits the still beating heart of the Illitum, the controller of the Illitus. The control system that the Ones Before used to create their projects. What it looks like and how it works is unknown and it is unlikely that anyone alive today remembers it in use.

The City and what sits below could not have been made by the same people, the architecture and the materials used are completely different and it is highly logical that the ones that created the city had no knowledge of what lay underneath. What is feesable is that the city builders must have brought materials to Nihility for construction because there is no mark on the surface and no tunnels to signify that the materials came from Nihility itself.

There are other artificial land marks on the Sphere. There are small marble towers, barely a hundred meters high and little over five meters in length or width. They have no windows and no doors and stand as obelisks without obvious purpose. They are located equidistantly on the Sphere. There are five in total.

Story:xxxxx

Nihility once was part of Paradaii, they were parts of the same sphere. Paradaii was the sky around Nihility and the Sphere once housed the population of the Ones Before. The Angelae were once restricted from stepping foot upon the surface of Nihility and were kept in their sky worlds by their creators.

...but the creators vanished one day and fearing it was some form of test, the Angelae stayed high above, observing and taking notes, filing reports just as they had been told to do. It took years for them to notice that their reports were not being received. It was then that one angel was eventually brave enough to venture down to the surface and to step into the construct of the Illitum. What the angel found awed even him. He returned to the skies and told the other angels of the absence of the creators.

It took many centuries of angels landing one by one until eventually they decided that the test must have been another nature. They started to believe that the test now was for them to continue to run the Illitus as their masters would have, to continue and to teach themselves their master's ways as to follow in their foot steps.

Over time the Angelae did learn to take control and learned how the experiments on civilisations were run. They became efficient at creating, observing and collapsing worlds when the experiments needed to be terminated so that the next could begin. And so they did, in recorded Angelae history more than six thousand Spheres have been created and collapsed.

Over time the Angelae generations forgot about their masters... or chose not to remember, instead putting in place their own beliefs and superstitions. An angel rose to the rank of 'god' and became worshiped so much that he was hidden away from the rest of the angels somewhere on their sky world.

Other angels concentrated more on the races that they were creating and destroying few of these rose up and fought their kin, attempting them to halt in the destruction of a sphere and its millions of people. The revolt pushed forth to the control room and Nihility became a hive at war. Angel killed Angel and the control s were damaged. The machine targeted itself and the sky was ripped asunder. Nihility, the city of the creators crushed, fell into the darkness along with any unlucky enough to be standing upon its surface. The Angels had taken flight, their sky world was now an entity of its own, void of a core, blackness existing now where Nihility once stood.

Nihility still exists somewhere, disconnected from the Illitus for the most part. Every so often it drifts into parallel existence and bridges can be made and stragglers find themselves stranded there. This is possibly how the new city was built.

Reasons: xxxxx

Nihility was the first Sphere that I wrote and it existed for a long time before the full entirety of the project evolved.

Initially, it came about as a Role-play that I wrote where a world sat disconnected from the others and every so often a person would mistakenly step forward into it from their home world and would become trapped. Nihility theoretically had some sentience on who it chose as the people that turned up were often in need of a place to hide or were running from something, either people or their pasts.

For the role-play, most of the action happened in the city so this became the most developed part of the the world, with the lake taking second place. As time continued I added more detail, more treasures to be found and steered a general story line into the role-play, giving people a common line to follow. It seemed that though Nihility gave sanctuary, it systematically allowed itself to be cleansed every so often and that usually game in the form of a group of beings (though different each time) being allowed in to destroy everything that stood there). the story progressed that my character, Lei had actually been one of the beings that destroyed and earlier version of the city and though he only realised it over time and with reading books in the vast libraries, he thought of the world as a home and didn't want to see himself or the others that had found the place after him cleansed.

I came up with the angels as a common enemy because of another role-player. The character was a stray angel that had been tormented by her brother and had her wings torn off. This gave me the idea that the angels were not all good and spawns countless ideas of what angels could really be if fleshed out in different directions.

And so it was that the angels became the next impending force that would cleanse Nihility.

From this idea of a world that doesn't exist came the idea of many other worlds. The one where Lei must have come from, or the ones in which many of the other characters people had RPed came from. Angels, Daemons, Vampires... how could I justify all of these races and make them plausible?

This is where the idea of the Illitus came from, a machine that included many worlds all interlinked. In time Nihility became the most important and it just seemed like a straight path that everything else fell into place.

I didn't want the angels to be completely evil so I gave them their own set of rules and morals, gave them purpose and made them guard the skies of the most powerful tool in existence.

I won't continue with any more but I will say that when the defecting angels shut down the Illitus controls, the towers all shifted and something moved. The remaining angels couldn't get the mechanism working quick enough to save Nihility and they fled to the skies before the connection severed. Maybe the towers are more important than slabs of marble.

Type:xxxxx Spherical

Size:xxxxx Gigaia (Largest)

Gravity:xxxxx Normal

Mana Density:xxxxx Normal

Passage of time:xxxxx Normal

Occupying Races:xxxxx Humans, Elves, Orkin, Dwarves, Etheral, Fae, Reanimate, Anthros

Description of Sphere:xxxxx

[Name] is a spherical garden world, and one of the largest worlds in the Illitus. The sphere houses all known races of the Illitus (save for Demi-Gods), with varying population among its inhabitants. Most of the population is compromised of Humans and Elves at sixty percent, Dwarves and Orkin appear less commonly, at fifteen percent. Another ten percent is made up of Fae and Anthros. The rest of the population is made of subservient Reanimate which the Humans and Elves have mastered. This number can spike should a plague ensue, however. Etherals are rare beings on this world, and make up less than one percent of the population. In total, there are nearly eleven billion sentient inhabitants in [Name].

[Name] has more land than it does water, however most of the water on the planet is fresh water, enabling such large populations. Salt water is almost found in lakes around mountains.

There are a wide variety of land types on [Name]. Featuring three continents, two above the equator with the largest south of the equator. The Northwest continent is circular and houses most of the Dwarves and Orkin. This continent is very mountainous and contains thick pine forests and grassy lowlands along with an almost barren badlands within the center. This continent is undesirable to live on, and thus the Humans and Elves often send criminals or exiles to this continent. The Northeast continent is inhabited by Anthros and the Fae. It has thick forests and fields of grass. It's mostly flat, with very few mountains. An Archipelago dots it's southern border, and humans and Elves have attempted to colonize these islands due to overpopulation in the Southern Continent. This has caused a war between the allied Humans and Elves and the Anthros. On the Southern, largest continent, there are a variety of forests, and a mountainous western coast. The Humans and Elves live in the middle of the continent, where the weather is Temperate, and the land is typically lightly forested and flat. Cities are made along the Rebit, a large river that runs through the center of the continent. Deserts are found in the south, where Humans have destroyed the land due to over-farming of the soil and overpopulation.

Because it is one of the oldest worlds, technology has progressed substantially, and magic has been studied almost to the peak of perfection. Mages in this sphere know however, the amount of mana in the sphere is average compared to some other spheres.

Story:xxxxx

[Name] is one of the oldest spheres, created as a sort of animal sanctuary to house all the races of the Illitus. The Ones Before created this world as a sort of template with which to create other worlds. The creators kept this world at peak condition. It was a utopia. After they disappeared, and the Angelae began to war, [Name] was left to it's own devices. Without the creators to govern the world, disagreements went unchecked. For the first time, war broke out. Because of the moderate amount of Mana in the sphere and the large progression of magic, many soldiers were taught basic spells. Both armies employed mage strike-squads made up of four or five experienced mages to decimate infantry. This led to the creation of Templars, soldiers who used magic to dispel magic and prevent mages from further casting spells. The Humans and the Elves massacred each other, resulting in a world war that came to nearly one billion dead. While they were weakened, the warmongering Orkin used this opportunity to strike the weakened Elves and Humans. The Elves and Humans forged an alliance once they saw what was happening, and pushed the Orkin to the Northwest continent with the Dwarves. The Dwarves were outraged at this intrusion of their homeland, and went to war with the Human-Elf alliance. The Dwarves had to invade by sea however, and because the Dwarves were not masters of naval battle, were easily defeated. Each left to their own continents, the Elf and Human population grew, while the endless war between the hostile Orkin and Dwarves kept the population in check.

Soon after outgrowing their continent, the Humans and Elves moved to the Northeast continent to colonize, and enlarge their kingdom. Unknown to them, this continent was inhabited by the magical Fae and Anthros both feral and civil. The mages discovered a strange increase in mana on the continent, and the Human-Elf alliance hastened to colonize the forested and wild continent. Though the Anthros were in lesser number, and had almost no military assistance from the Fae, their knowledge of the thick forests enabled them to push the Humans and Elves back to a set of islands along the south. Now, mages often make sojourns to these islands to benefit from the continent's increased mana. An army is kept on guard on the islands in case of an attack by the Anthros, but so far there has been none.

In the forests, the Anthros have split between what to do with the Humans and Elves. Most believe that they should be left alone, as they no longer proved a threat, and showed no sign of further attack. A growing minority believes that the Elves and Humans will return in number to finish the war that they started.

For now, the world is largely at peace, but war looms on the horizon as old hostilities rise between the Humans and the Elves, and a band of renegade Anthros prepare for a strike on the southern Archipelago.

Reasons: xxxxx

Have to have at least one mega-world with everything. I'm sorry to kind of break the rule of a limited number of species, but I think it had to be done. Only species not present here are the Demi-Gods, for various reasons. I wanted the population to control themselves, rather than be controlled by an omnipresent and omnipotent species.

Type: Exotic—Pyramidal

Size: Sorgaia (large)

Gravity: Active, marginally decreased

Mana Density: Not normal, +40%

Passage of time: Not normal, +100%

Occupying races: Elves (High Elves, Wild Elves), Orkin (Gnomes, Gremlin), Fae (Sprites)

Description of Sphere:

[XXXXX] is a very interesting looking sphere, with a land mass at each vertex and streams of mana connecting the four base landmasses with the mass at the top. The four base landforms are the main areas where four different species live. The center, higher landform is a massive plot of land that is the most serene of the five masses where the inhabitants’ diplomats of the sphere gather twice a year (once at the beginning of each season) and have a ceremony to promote a healthful season. Each landmass has a fairly different terrain that best suits the species living there, and the top landmass is a combination of all four to please the separate species. The fifth landmass is also where the Sprites reside.

The first corner (the North) mass is home to the High Elves and has the look of a very futuristic or modern city that has not forgotten its traditional roots. The East mass is home to the Wild Elves and is covered by large, dense forests. Regular rains provide this race with their water supply, and is often brought through spells and chants due to the heightened streams of mana flowing from the superior “island.” A tribe of Gremlins call the South island home. This massive rock is the largest of the islands, as these are the creatures that demand the most space. This terrain has a variety of plants and animal types, with Gremlins at the top of the food chain. The West mass is essentially one large mountain, carefully mined out through the strategic and regular work of the gnomes. The interior is the almost larger than the High Elf City on the North island, as it extends both above and below the level ground (or rather, what little there is on the fringes of the land masses).

Should one look up at the sky on any mass (provided you can see it), they would see a beautiful sky that has the mixed hues of a deep viridian, aqua blue, and light violet, with one glowing mass in the middle to the south, west, north, or east. This is the center mass, where the Sprites live to maintain and prepare the terrain for the bi-annual meeting of the races. This, as mentioned before, is a mixture of terrain of each of the four land masses below it, with constant sunshine, fair weather, and rain when called. This is often seen as the gem of this sphere, as it shines even brighter than any of the stars that dot the ocean-colored sky.

Story:

The terrains were the were made to mold to the inhabitants of this sphere. The Wild Elves and the High Elves were once one species, settled together on the Eastern mass. Once the High Elves started to separate from their Wild Elf brethren, they discovered each islet was connected by a steady stream of free mana, swirling through the space and land as if it were following invisible currents.

The discovery of the South and West Islands were made by the High Elves after they had mastered travel between the islands with the construction of a massive vessel that would be kept moving through pulses of magic through the decreased gravity, where it was found that Gremlins and Gnomes were living on each one respectively. Once this discovery came about and all races became aware of each other, tension grew rapidly. The Orkin argued that they were there long before the Elves had arrived, while the Elves debated that the Ones Before had blessed them with the Sphere. The two species argued to the brink of war until the Sprites descended from the Superior Island on the cascade of free mana, urging the species to maintain peace within the Sphere. After very strong persuasions, each race agreed to send a diplomat (the most adept in magic as well as the most tolerant to the other races) up to the Superior Island to agree on peace terms. Thanks to the High Elves (and as part of the peace treaty), the races all have the abilities to ride the mana currents from one island to the other, as well as up to the Superior Island due to both the low effect of gravity and the massive amount of mana available.

However, the longer the races stay within the sphere, the more adept they grow at casting spells. Also, beliefs fade and change with the generations, and the present generation of diplomats has the potential to release massive chaos within their home. Their eyes have fallen on their prize: the Superior Island, their main source of mana. The more power that they become able to control, the more they want control of the island, and this time, there may be a chance that not even the Sprites' magic and reason will be able to stop them.

Reasons:

I wanted to make a sphere in general. xD Of course, I deny all physics and make it a pyramid instead… oh well. X3 I thought that the idea of a central power that produced all the mana in the Sphere would be a neat idea, and I figured two species with a couple different races fighting and debating against each other to lay claim to the most perfect thing they can attain in their world would be really interesting. =3 In essence, it just tickled my fancy.

Type: Flat

Size: Forune (Medium)

Gravity: Active, marginally increased

Mana Density: Normal

Passage of time: -200%

Occupying races: Etherals (Elementals), Fae (Bellshades), Dwarves (Orlat, Tallisin)

Description of Sphere:

This sphere has one large central landmass that extends nearly twenty miles down at sea level, covered by mountains lining most of the borders, forming a ring around a lush forest, which encloses a fairly large lake, in the center of which a desert island is formed. In essence, bulls-eye rings with a great variety of landforms for the inhabitants, providing great variety and slight complications when it comes to weather. Though the forest in the second ring is lush, the trees grow no more than ten or fifteen feet tall, due to the increase in gravity. Regardless, those trees that do grow to be taller than fifteen feet (often these trees have been alive for hundreds of thousands of years), have very thick trunks that are quite often up to ten feet in diameter.

The lake in the third ring is a fairly shallow lake, once again adaptations by the land in regards to the increased gravity—if it were much deeper, it would be considered uninhabitable due to the massive amount of pressure that the above water would exude. Due to the reflections of the Sphere above them, the water often appears blood red, occasionally lightening in tint when there are clouds or when it’s in the middle of the day. Thus, due to its color, it’s considered the “Lifeblood of the Sphere.” There are very small channels that extend out through the forest in small brooks that flows to the mountains, but instead of going to the mountains themselves, the streams course channels through them, eventually finding the edge and slipping off into the Unknown. This is the inhabitant’s solution to help prevent flooding, which can get quite bad in the rainy seasons.

The desert island is quite large, and often the center of the day’s light for a solid thirty to forty hours of the day. It is dotted with small cactus-like plants and sturdy, tough greens that can withstand the scorching heat. The upwards glare of the scarlet hued Sphere appears to sometimes magnify the heat in the mind of the soul looking up, making him or her appear hotter than they actually are.

The mountains are the most majestic and largest of the rings by far, extending completely around the border of the land mass. There are rich deposits of minerals and precious stones within them, and sometimes, if veins are exposed to the surface, they glimmer and shine with brilliance that is unmatched on any other Sphere. There is occasionally snowfall on these mountain peaks in the summer seasons, but during the winter, they are covered with snow almost halfway down to the base. They are the reasons the forest and lake is so lush and full, respectively; their height prevents the clouds from passing and wasting their precious rain and snow on the Unknown and oblivion.

Story:

This Sphere has lived in relative peace throughout the years, mainly thanks to the Elementals that inhabit the surface world and underwater. They do their best to keep their land wonderfully lush and beautiful, and as a result, they managed to do so for thousands of years. However, it hasn’t always been that way. Due to the ring of mountains and the large lake, there was a serious problem; during the rainy seasons, there would be massive flooding, sometimes even so that the desert island would be swallowed up and the lake would appear more as an ocean, topped with short trees with comically huge tops. The Elementals and the Bellshades always did everything they could to keep the island from flooding, but nothing seemed to work; the mountains prevented everything, and due to the fairly regular mana level and increased gravity, they were unable to move the heavy stone.

However, when an elemental discovered that there were creatures leaving within the mountains, she was ecstatic. Her element, Earth, had always been at risk due to the flooding, and due to that, she was the only Earth Elemental while there were more plant and water Elementals that inhabited the Sphere. She had met not one, but two Dwarf races, and was practically begging for them to help them control the flooding. Initially, the Dwarves refused, explaining that the flooding helped to soften the rock above them and made mining for the precious metals that much easier, especially in a land of increased gravity. The Elemental was sent away, disappointed and saddened.

The Dwarves tolerated each other, but had distinct dividing lines in the mountains, with fairly equal, but distinct, precious metals and minerals to mine. They each had carved magnificent and huge paths within the mountains for them to call home, and made sure that they did not carve so close to the mountain surface to get close to the water; after all, they had nearly thirty miles of land that they could dig through just going up and down. However, one day, two fairly new miners met at the border, each belonging to a different race, mining their respective metals. A glimmer caught both of their eyes at the same time, and the fought to reach it. However, it was a worthless metal that was common on both sides of the mountain, and as a result, the dwarves fought each other even more. Their picks were thrown violently during their brawl, causing the outside rock to fracture and leave a small hole. The light startled the two youngsters, and they looked up with curiosity. They jumped back when a small group of Bellshades began to flutter around the crack, even squeezing in and hovering around them. The dwarves, unsure of what these creatures were, were terrified, and ran to their respective clans. The Bellshades followed, hidden in the shadows, and were never seen.

Later that night, a massive storm initiated the start of the rainy season, worse than any before in history. The water rose at record levels, reaching the hole in no time and surpassing it with ease. The increased gravity against the rock as the water level rose was massive, and eventually the rock gave way, flooding the massive canals. The dwarves were taken by complete surprise, but they were quite resourceful in more ways than one. There were massive casualties from both species for those that did not make it to the higher tunnels, but there were many more survivors. Now they were both in agreement; they needed to control the flooding.

They met with the Earth Elemental once the water level went down and struck an agreement; each Dwarf race would tunnel out a series of six underground caverns leading from the interior landmass to the exterior Unknown on each side, while the Earth Elemental carved streambeds through the forest leading into each of those tunnels. The other elementals were wary of this plan; what if it didn’t work? Their answer came soon enough. The next storm was almost as bad as the last one, but miraculously, the land didn’t flood! The areas around the streams swelled slightly, but they did their job. All inhabitants were delighted that they could now work in peace and not worry about the flooding.

As the years went by, though, natural erosion, as well as careless mining, has brought dangerous complications to the caverns and streams. Collapsing tunnels due to the force of gravity has clogged one or two of the tunnels, and though the damage is usually fixable, it can be quite dangerous. Sentries are set up to guard the openings and tunnels, but that doesn’t always prevent the cave-ins… or sabotage. There has also been growing tension between the two Dwarf races, each claiming it was the others fault for the massive flood of the inner mountains. However, since it was on the borderline, no one could pin blame and have it stick. The elementals have prevented conflict thus far, but the Bellshades are starting to grow excited and more and more uncontrollable, flying and hovering around various places throughout the land; forest, mountains, lake, and even the desert. Something is bound to happen soon, and it’s going to affect the whole land. The question is, though, what catastrophe awaits them now?

Reasons: This is just me being different again. ^^; I had an idea and wanted to run with it, so I’ll see how far this goes.

Type: Sphere

Size: Sor-Litani

Gravity: Active (Normal)

Mana Density: Not Normal, +20%

Passage of Time: Not normal, +300%

Occupying Races: Reanimated (Liches, Zombies, Chimeras, Eidolons), Human (Courts, Artisans, Spell Weavers, Warriors), Etherals (Spirits)

Description of Sphere:

This is a sphere shaped world inside of its Sphere, with gravity pulling inward to the center in a somewhat similar manner as Earth. As a result, there is a solid molten core with convection of magma above that maintains a constant temperature, therefore does not always take from the surface far above it. At present, this sphere is divided in half by a large canyon-like fissure that extends far below the surface. At the bottom of the fissure, there is nothing but a desolate boneyard of human and animal corpses that have faded to nothing but their skeletal structure. This area is haunted by the Sprits of those that perished. Dividing the two halves of the planet is a river of molten rock and fire that spans a good two miles at its widest part, half a mile at its most narrow. The only beings that may directly cross this unharmed are the spirits, as they can no longer feel any more physical harm anyway.

On one hemisphere rests several tribes and cities of humans who try and stay as far away from the fissure as possible, not for fear of erosion and degradation (though that does happen due to the elements) but for fear of what is on the other side. There is regular flora and fauna here, forests, plains, ponds and lakes, as well as game and domesticated animals for hunting. To look up into the sphere on this side of the world would show a pleasant, crystal blue colored sky that is often clear, cloudy only during the rainy seasons, snowfall, or when rain is called for by the spell casters to help manage the crops.

On the other hemisphere is a dark land, covered with similar flora and fauna, save for small details. The sky here is almost always overcast, red and grey clouds mixing to cover a sphere that is as dark as midnight. A strange light illuminates this land, almost like a slightly stronger version of moonlight. The inhabitants here are often night dwellers, though on clear days they aren’t above taking advantage of the dimmer sunlight. The reanimated creatures live here, though there are live animals and plants. A select few carry the virus that infects others and turns them into zombies, but these creatures are often exiled by their living relatives and wander to the civilizations and castles of the undead. Three Liches hold the power here, taking advantage of the increased mana to practice their spells and keep things orderly and in control… for the most part.

Story:

The “Ones Before” seemed to have this sphere fated for its own destruction when they created it. A seeming experiment of peace and brutality, there was a split in the sphere when it was created. Though this fracture went completely around the land mass, it did not go completely through. The creation of so many human races together sparked mild war among them in the beginning, though peace was eventually reached. The dead of these initial wars were sent by the spell casters over to the other side of the sphere, unaware of who was on the other side and feeling that there was nothing more than a desolate land that was made of nothing but eternal night.

Oh how they were wrong.

A second race of powerful spell casters was being created; the king of the Liches was holding power at the time, and he was teaching his three sons his trade. His wife, a human woman runaway kidnapped from the bottom of the fissure by the zombies and eidolons at his command, conceived triplets before his seed became infertile. This King was a very powerful caster, and placed a spell on his three sons that they would become the most perfect creatures of creation; already half liche, they were adept at the control and traits of the dead. When they reached their late twenties, early thirties, their father did the unspeakable in the human hemisphere: he took them and stole their souls, reanimating their lifeless husks as corpses and placing their souls within a phylactery they had unconsciously chosen before their death. With his three sons now beside him and the dead humans that he had been collecting and preserving over the years, the undead King now had a chance to cross the fissure and take control of the humans, claiming this sphere for himself once and for all.

The Spirits were aware of a disturbance on the side of the undead, and thus they did their best to warn the humans. A Spell Caster helped connect and translate a Spirit’s energy in front of a counsel explaining the plan of the Liche King and his sons. After a concerned and hurried meeting, the humans decide that there was no chance for them to stop the onslaught of destruction should the Liche King cross the fissure. Therefore, a group of powerful casters were sent out to the fissure, escorted by several spirits, and shown the safest way down to the fissure. A group of warriors went with them to provide protection; it was vital that these Casters reached the bottom of the fissure before the Liche King and his undead horde.

They did, much to the relief of the humans when a lone warrior returned as a messenger. However, they were not there long before the undead began to appear. The Liche King was not yet there, but could see what was going on through a ledge. He had commanded his horde to stop the spell casters at all cost, but the warriors were valiant in keeping them back. The casters, five in all, formed a pentagram in the center of the sphere, intending to split it in half once and for all. However, the spell was not what they thought: it was meant to split rock in half… not liquid. The casters were taken by surprise when the rock below them gave way to reveal a molten rush of magma, and as a result were consumed by the intense heat. The warriors were trapped on the side of the undead, though any undead that had attempted to cross were swallowed by the sudden river of fire. Though the human casualties were great in respect to the small amount that descended to the bottom, the Liche King was furious; their bodies were destroyed, and thus the original casters of the spell could not undo it. They were trapped on the side of the fissure, isolated once more.

In his fury, though, the Liche King did not realize that his sons had gathered behind him. Greed and the lust for his power brought them to perform an action that none of them will openly regret through the rest of their existence; they grabbed his phylactery—a scepter adorned with a massive ruby—as well as their father and threw them both into the magma with force, catching the Liche King by surprise enough so that he had no time to voice a spell or grab his phylactery before they both hit the molten fire, ceasing to exist. The horde of undead looked to the brothers, soon growing confused. There were now three leaders. The sons rushed back to their homeland, and soon began to fight for their rights to the land. Eventually they settled into an uneasy peace, the land split evenly in thirds, and the undead hordes picking their alliances respectively.

Thanks to the casters and warriors that gave their lives that day and joined the spirits that roam the trench bottom, the humans have had no worry about the undead approaching them. However, there is a way to reach the opposite side of the trench without descending the sides, a dangerous journey even with the help of the spirits. A young spell caster, a descendant of one of the five men who created the river of lava, has discovered a spell that can let them leap and fly a distance across and over the trench, a seven mile flight at the narrowest point. Though the youth knows the importance of keeping this a secret, tell-tale evidence of a living human exploring the undead lands and disappearing across the trench has been brought to the attention of one of the Liche Princes, arousing the desire and greed powerful enough to start the worst war and blood bath that this Sphere has ever known. The plan is to cross and take over the humans, putting him above his two brothers in matters of land mass, power, and cruelty. There's just one problem--only one human at present knows how to cross the fissure.

Reasons: Once again, just a random spark of inspiration. X.x

Type: Sphere

Size: Litani

Gravity: Active, marginally decreased

Mana Density: Not Normal, +40%

Passage of Time: Normal

Occupying Races: Elves (Lunaic, Sun), Anthros (Mermaid, Shape Shifters)

Description of Sphere:

This small, spherical world is drenched with both mana and water. Or rather, the appearance of water everywhere is upheld. Due to contours of mana and gravity thanks to the inner workings of an artificial core, there is some water on the ground in the forms of lakes and ponds, but the majority can be found in thick bands that seem to wrap around the world, following the contours of the sphere in a continuous spiral, always ending by looping back in on itself. The areas under the elevated streams are lush, often host to isolated bands of forestry. The bands migrate with the seasons, moving along the surface, thus the water is not located above one set spot the entire year, but gradually cover the entire land over the course of the year. The only places where there is constant rainfall are at the poles, and depending on where the sun is, the precipitation may change during its fall; however, it always starts as liquid water.

At the areas of constant rainfall, there are lakes and ponds formed from a great amount of erosion, and as a result, there can be found large wooded areas surrounding them. Smaller wooded areas are formed throughout the planet thanks to the water, but the rest of the world is fairly open, subject to the elements more so than other areas. However, during the region’s rainy season, the water band is over them, and deposits from the areal streams revive the ground and bring lush grass to the area. Otherwise, there are dry patches and a savannah-like terrain.

The colors of the planet take on those of the local flora, depending on the season. Occasionally, the rains will coincide with an annual blooming of a remote wildflower, and the resulting fields are a shock of violet, a color rarely found and never synthesized. The sky is a deep blue during the day, pitch black during the night. The water around the planet holds its own ethereal glow, appearing as a blue-green streak that is ever in motion across the sky, substituting starlight in the night skies. Any light that travels through the bands of water will appear reflected on the surface, showing patterns of light that appear to dance with the swift current of the water above.

Story:
Since the dawn of their time, the inhabitants of the land looked up at the spiral of water that seemed to stretch for as far as the eye could see and was in perpetual motion and saw fish and mermaids and mermen swimming as if carefree, their shadows floating across the land as they migrated from one point to the other and back again. It seemed like they were in perpetual search for something. However, since contact was minimal at best, it was widely accepted that they were the sphere’s guardians, willing to fight any threat that happened to come across the stars to defend their homeland.

In the Polar forests, Lunaic elves have always called the dense trees home. Meanwhile, in the open expanse of the land, tribes of Sun elves migrate with the changing waters. These two races have been quite comfortable and even friendly with each other, though probably because their preferences in land, elements, and time of day are completely contradicting of each other. That’s not to say that they don’t have meetings or trades; in fact, they gather at the festival of Violets, when the blooms band the planet as if an unseen hand trailed a streak of paint across the face of the land. However, that is the only time Lunaic elves may be seen either in the daylight or out of their forests.

Among the tribes, a clan of their own, lurk shape shifters. These are the monkey wrench in the elf’s system. The leader of the shifters has observed several times in which elves of two different races get along, and it has sickened her. In her opinion, two opposing things in nature should be fated to war, and anything near the lines of “opposites attract” to her is complete insanity and curable only through an arrow through the brain. She has bred her sons and daughters to migrate and hide, preparing sabotage and plotting to get the two elf races to finally realize their differences and start warring. She herself views over the training of the new generation of shape shifters, and has practiced to the point where she can take nearly any form in all its perfection.

The only problem that she has, though, is that no matter how perfect she thinks she can get the elf’s forms, they always spot shape shifters in their midst. After several discoveries, the elves no longer welcome shape shifters in their festivals and tribes, and will often chase out or kill any shape shifter they find within their midst. Now, the Shape Shifter queen is fighting to figure out what that one difference is that she cannot master. Once she does, her plan may go much more smoothly.

One night, in pure frustration, she looked up to the sky and wanted to shout, freezing when she saw a migrating school of merfolk. Suddenly, she realized a way that she and her children could safely observe lunar elves: she needed to shift into a mermaid and inhabit a lake in the center of one of the Polar forests. However, to do so, she needed to do the unspeakable: stare into the eyes of a dying mermaid.

She needed to kill the sphere’s sacred guardians. However, she had to get to them first.

Reasons: Gah! Forgive me, I’ve been so brain dead regarding this!!! T-T But I finally had an idea and decided to get off my lazy butt and type it out. I’m going to try and submit a few more without such a lapse in time… please forgive me! sweatdrop
