Foalhood: A unicorn is considered a foal until it is about two years old, when it is weaned. The horn is just a bump under the skin on the forehead, and the tail is ropelike until the hairs begin to grow in. They stay the size of a horse's foal throughout this time.

User Image
Weanling: A unicorn around three years of age. They are roughly two years old by this time, and it is at this time that the horn begins to grow. The foal also starts to grow in size at this time.

User Image
Youngster: A unicorn at three to four years of age is much like a horse yearling from the real world. The horn is beginning to reach its full length, though it is still blunt. The youngsters are nowhere near finished growing, though.

Gryphon : Gryphons use to be a threat to the unicorns of the vale. When the unicorns where driven out of there home, they found home in the vale and scared off the goots that lived there. The Gryphons had hunted the goats and used them to feed themselves and their young. They started to pick off stray single unicorns and the young one that wandered to the top of the vale. Now that a negotiations was made with Queen Malar of the Gryphons , the Gryphons no longer hunt the unicorns. The unicorns now share the vale with the goats, that the griffins now hunt. Gryphons live in the "Gryphon Mountains" where they live in pairs and their nests.
