The Gadmium Mountains are definitely a deterant for anyone to try to overtake the area. Or travel through it. But in both cases, it is still attempted. Especially travelers. There are roads through the foothills, but many decide to conquer nature while risking their own life when they should know better. But the Gadmiums have claimed many lives.
In any case, very few detailed maps of the region so even if a traveler tried to be prepared, he would be confused soon enough. Some have said that these mountains move to protect what is theirs. But surely that is all folklore. No mountains could move.......right?
