That's awful! I knew about the ban, but I didn't know that they could reject you just for SEEMING gay. The whole thing is outrageous! I think they need to remove the ban all together!

That's... O_o
Okay, I'm going to go sob in my sad corner over the state our country is in. Jeeze, I thought we would be able to put this fear-mongering behind us when we developed the technology to, y'know, test blood samples for HIV.

Making them wait a few years to see if HIV manifests itself, because I know that HIV can lie dormant and not even show up on tests. If it shows up, then no donation. If it doesn't, then let them donate. If you infuse that infected blood that you didn't KNOW was infected with someone else's, then it show up again later, you're doing the very thing you tried to avoid. But rejecting him for SEEMING gay is like "WTF, mate?".

I mean if it's standard procedure to be super sure the blood they give people isn't infected, then I don't see how it matters what orientation the person giving blood is. neutral

And they test again before administering it. (My father is a hematologist. He likes to share.) So, I see nothing wrong with it if the person comes up clean. Also, the demographic with the most number of HIV cases isn't homosexual males. It's heterosexual females.
