THE ROLE PLAYER’S GUIDE TO THE DEMONIC ORIGIN
Within the five known reigning races of the earth, the demonic origin breeds a new set of regulations that are uncommon to vampires and elves alike: the demonic life span runs no longer than that of a human; demons are granted one of three abilities as birthright [most commonly the ability to spit fire, the second with much irregularity the ability to teleport, and finally, as abnormal as being struck 27 times by lightning, dying, and then resurrecting, the near useless ability of levitation]; and last, when it comes to birthing and mating, demons are slightly more eccentric.
~ BACKGROUND ~
Demons are nothing more than an alternative human race explained through mere creationistic and logic-based theories no more evident than that of any other origin. Demons have been around since man, yet have traditionally been outcast by man. The traditional Halloween get up isn’t exactly your average demon though. During the Holy wars of the late Archaic period, Greek was the naturally spoken language. It was during this time that the leaders of the demonic colonies living throughout Greece and Italy referred to his follows as the chosen people. As languages developed, so did the development of the title “Demons”. Though the title hadn’t altered vastly from the beginning, the human depiction of a demon had: demons naturally have a slightly redder skin pigment than most humans, nothing ultra super bright red though; the horns that protrude from the head of a demon are actually small clots of muscle covered by skin created to protect the skull’s weakest points; and absolutely NO self respecting demon carries a red & black plastic pitch forks and go around poking sinners whilst shrieking aloud biblical verse. The only thing that humans did get right about demons is their uncanny tail control, which not only works as a reproductive organ, but also as a third arm. Fight Demon Stereotypes Today!!! ~ BINDING ~
Once a demon has reached upwards of 25, it is not unusual for him/her to find alike demon to mate with. A demons sexual orientation is not nearly as defined as human as any pairing of demonic origin is deemed acceptable not only in binding, but also in birthing.
Beginning with the binding process, the demon instigator must harshly reproach their attraction. A single tear from their opposite issues the binding ritual. Though this is not very convoluted in nature, the binding ritual isn’t quite so simplistic.
First, one of the parents of each of the demons in question must meet then must contribute the liquor from his/her individual blood pendant into the Rivitial flask. It is custom for the dominant parent to withhold his/her liquor and for the bearer to contribute his/her liquor. Upon doing so, the couple is given the flask which they then must add the content of their own pendants to the flask. The flask is then poured into two chalices, and the couple must consume the liquid. This replenished their blood pendants of the newly mated and drains the remaining life of the elders to give up their blood liquor. This in turn resolves the ritual, forever binding the two souls together. This leads to more consequence than just potential birthing; now that the souls are bound, if the dominant mate should fall, the other will face the same fate (the dominant, however, can sustain and rebind without the birth giver).
~ BLOOD ~
* As a parent of both individuals is needed to complete the binding ritual, if the dominant parent should fall before the binding of their child and has not been able to pass on the blood pendant, the child must acquire the missing blood by barding for a new line. The individual in question may also play role to the Dosiquoz ritual where only the blood of one side need be presented, yet both families will, therein, be discontinued as they will not be able to reproduce *
Demons naturally have a very special connection with their past through blood. Blood speaks the origin of a clan member through pigments, age through milliliters, and relation upon scent. Therein, a demon’s pendant is much more to them than a fashion statement. It is the most important thing a demon may own. There is only one known way to take a pendant from a demon and that is to barter for it. This is entirely too uncommon and has been recorded less than once to date. Admittedly, this is the only way a demon may truly dishonor his/her clan, unless he/she is to barter for it back. Anything else becomes tainted blood which may not be used in the binding ritual; therefore, ending that specific branch of the family chain.
~ BIRDS & THE BEES ~
Next, birthing is a spiritual way that two individuals of the species may mate. Though demons share nearly identical organ locations with humans, their reproductive system is slightly different. Both the male and the female of the species have a stitched pattern along the lower spine of their back slightly above the tail (the most palpable feature of a demon aside from its tinted red skin and symmetrical stout flesh covered horns is probably its tail). Oddly enough, this entire section of the demon is the reproductive organ. The male demons produce G101-G122 which powers the organ when aroused. The female produce H96-H116 which too powers the reproductive organ when aroused. [G>H is always the case aka males with a G count higher than 116 will always be the alpha; however, if the male has a G count lower than or equal to a 116, there is a chance that the female may be the alpha]. The two then fight for dominance by thrusting one another’s tails at the stitched pattern exposed along the others lower spine. The first to break through the skin is considered the dominant, alpha. This procedure is not necessarily for birthing, yet will undoubtedly lead to a birthing if preformed by a bound couple (more or less the same way as it is with humans). In addition, demons are only able to birth a single child, so multi mating by alpha G122’s usually simulate growth and sustain a population.
In addition to the organs used not only for reproduction but pleasure, demons also carry a generic set of humanoid sexual organs with no more purpose than for raw pleasure. These organs are identical to human reproductive organs, yet have no reproductive purposes (aka no seaman on your first mate’s poop-deck & no whirlpool to swallow the seamen either! Please don’t make me repeat that x.x)….
~ BRAWN ~
As previously mentioned, the demonic origins are birthed with one of three individually unique talents. The three are breeds of demoniac heritage, which are also incredibly unpredictable. In order from least to most infrequency: Linnites, Fades, & Subvos.
Linnites
Linnites are the most common form of demonic rebirths as nearly nine tenths of the demonic populace seems to have adopted the power of the Linnite. Linnites have the ability to spit fire. This ability has proven invaluable for centuries as the clans have been forced into hiding since the creation of kin. This ability is created by a G count of G102-G121 or an H count of H96-H114. This moderate GH count controls the wielders ability to summon on the element. As the GH balance is simulated by emotion, it is not unheard of for a demon to spit fireballs or breathe fire when in the heat of battle. The GH balance is in constant fluctuation within its single interval, so the tongue of fire is limited to the duration of the emotional control. Historically, to have emotional control over one is the talent of an elite warrior who when called upon may be able to produce an array of fire blasters. Legend tells that the great Botezski Modtrion was once able to cast a red burning shadow over the entire battle field of Grace Point over a century ago which historically changed the favorability of the battle obliterating nearly every Amatory warrior opposing Modtrion... Legend also says he died just over 50 years before the battle...I guess that’s why it’s legendary though...hey, Jesus did it, so why not? Anyway, as emotional stress is elastic, a linnite has no control over his or her ability during times of mood imbalances. In these circumstances, he/she has only to choose whether he/she wishes to call upon his/her ability or not. ** Also, they don’t chew tobacco cause that’d be kinda gross... Plus, I’m pretty sure that could give someone a contact high or lymphoma or something O.o
Fades
Fades are not easy to come by and difficult to trace as they have the ability to teleport. Historically, Fades have been used to gather essential materials, such as herbs and vegetation; whereas, Linnites are known more to be warriors. With their ability to easily transport themselves, they are able to get out of less favorable situations in a flash. The movement ability that Fades possess is not connected to GH count in the same way that it is for Linnites. Although a Fade possesses a G count higher than 121 or an H count higher than a 114 (with the occasional extreme low of G101), a Fade’s ability is actually connected to muscle motion rather than emotion. More specifically, the action uses a muscle called the Folios, located around the left ventricle of the heart, which is able to ripple a body between universal spaces within a single inner combustion and relocate to a similar place within the blink of an eye. As is with any muscle, the Folios does have an exhaust (the more the muscle is used, the stronger it gets... like my fingers... before I wrote this handbook, they were scrawny, but now!...well, they’re less scrawny...). To date, the farthest a Fade has teleported, or faded, in a single spur is 3509 meters which is roughly two mile. The act of fading is enormously weakening; if the distance is too far out of the demon’s ability, it could easily cause a heart attack, and in extreme cases, death. Another difference in talents that fades possess over Linnites is the full and total control over their ability. In basic, the way a Fade controls his/her powers is by remembering a location and instigating the teleportation through an excitement of the muscle. Mythologically, Jovious of Farso is said to have teleported over six times in one day, which is unheard of; even in minimal distances, Fades cannot commonly fade more than a maximum of three times a day, half that if they are able to transport an item with them. The reconstruction process, or endpoint of the transportation, isn’t fully yet understood, but potentially the body or bodies are rebuilt within a constant motion in the conscious location chosen. If the location is outrageous, the Fade may be interrupted during the process and fade to an unknown location subconscious location where death is eminent. So it’s really not a smart idea to do that...like, at all...like not once in the history of history has that been even remotely considered a good idea... >.<
Subvos
The final and absolute least common form of demonic rebirth are the Subvos. The Subvos possess the ability to levitate, a truly amazing power, which not much is known about. This is probably because your chances of encountering a Subvo is significantly less than winning the Spanish National Lottery held annually in Madrid, then being stung to near death by a hoard of angry wasps while a mime, who bears an incredible resemblance to some type of Sarah Jessica Parker-Steve Buscemi hybrid, reenact Jersey Girl from start to finish in a way that would now make that horrible, horrible movie your new favorite film ever, of all time. So much so that you spend the money that you won from the lottery, after all your crazy hospital/therapeutic expenses, repurchasing the entire Louisiana Purchase and rename the entire land mass after Ben Affleck, your new favorite actor (interestingly enough, the origin behind the anger that caused the wasps to violate you in such a gruesome manner was actually created as their colony’s reaction to the film Jersey Girl which they had all just watched on Netflix. The film was so bad that many of the wasps later committed suicide...). Basically, they’re really really really hard to come by. As far as GH goes, the only thing that is know is that a Subvo must have a GH count of 0, which really doesn’t make any sense, but as pigment is a large part in identifying a GH number, the content of a Subvo’s blood pendent is completely white. Apparently, Subvos have a similar power to flight, and they’re pretty damn fast (fast enough to readily remain generally unseen anyhow). It’s said that Subvos have unlimited access to their power, yet they cannot transport any additional baggage outside of themselves...this includes clothing... they basically become near transparent condensing their immediate mass into a core, ridding themselves of any naturally occurring elements... ([{Basically, they turn into an ice cube that projects an image of themselves as an outer layer of protection. This way, they are light enough to transport their weight around quickly and easily while still retaining a general amount of security. Anything surplus of the physical body of the demon would not be able to take the pressure of the mass redistribution. If it was ever attempted, the surplus may experience a general spasm, but nothing everlasting or severe, just a particle rejection.}]) Perhaps one day, Subvos may be studied more and understood, but for now, that’s about all that’s known.
~ BODY ~
It’s probably not a bad idea to examine the nuances of the demonic form that set it aside from human, as the two are the most closely related. As far as age goes, the demon life spectra mimic’s the human, with the exception of mating related deaths. All natural deaths are mimicked human to demon though. The average height of a demon for women is approximately 2 meters, and the approximate average male height is 2.5 meters. A healthy weight for an average female is roughly 14 stone (196 pounds), and roughly 16 stone (224 pounds) for males. Most of this weight actually comes from both blood density and bone structure. The three leading causes of variation among this spectra lay within breeds as Subvos are presumably the shortest and lightest, whereas, Linnites are the tallest and heaviest. As far as appearances go, aside from a slight difference in height than the average human, demons are near replicas of the human form: five fingers on each hand (with naturally darker finger nails), five toes on each foot, similarly texturized skin (demon skin is a bit thicker as it is much more heat resistant... don’t get crazy though, you drop Mr. Demon on the sun and he’s a goner. Though their average core temperature is only around 40 C, they can withstand heats of about 80 C without any devastation.). The notable differences between a human and a demon have previously been explored, but to recap, demon’s have a slightly redder complexion, slight symmetrical skull extrusions of tissue that resemble horns, vertical stitching along the lower back, and a tail. I’m pretty sure that about wraps everything up, so welcome to the world of demonic origin!
