Mack is ordered to a fault. He dislikes it when things that should be one way are instead another and gets very upset when people move his things or change the locations of furniture. He prefers things to be neat and clean, but to remain stationary, within his control.
He's best if left to himself-- if he wants to meet someone he will eventually seek them out, or if someone is persistent without being overbearing in getting to know him, he'll open up. To Mack, there are a specific number of things that a person or monster must do to be his friend and he's not keen on bending his rules for others.

Myron has had a very strange time of things. After losing the love of his life to his rival in aquatic studies in college (the famed John Harkins, marine biologist), what could have been a bright future spiraled into disarray. He was employed for a while in Charleston, but then moved to Boston after his parents died to inherit the family home. He and his sister have had fairly good relations, even though their lives were vastly different, and she agreed to let him have the deed as long as he paid her for her half of the house, which he did.
He works currently at the New England Aquarium in Boston, where his job as an aquatic horticulturalist keeps him fairly busy, though unfulfilled. When he graduated from his university, he'd been hoping that he could do something that would change the world, discover something really big.
But that never panned out.
So, Myron does his job with all the enthusiasm he can. He honestly does like it, but he wishes that he were doing something more...exciting. Maybe out on the high seas, he would acquire a few good tales, have a few adventures, but not here. He loves the fish he cares for and makes sure that the plants they eat are healthy. He's good at his job, but he knows that it'll never lead to the research he desires and has accepted it.
He loves all things Scottish, even though he's technically Italian. Sometimes he'll wear a kilt to formal occasions, which ticks his sister Christina off to no end-- she's very much into her Italian roots and sees her brother as shunning their family traditions. Still, other than this, the siblings get along, probably because they see each other fairly rarely.
But that's before everything changed when Myron found that strange arcade...
