History:
The only thing special about Aeri’s past is that it is, well, not special. Born of a Flight-induced tryst between a crimson rider and a brown rider, this girl was raised like any other weyrbrat. Supposedly she has an older half sister, but the two have never talked much and are not particularly close. Like everyone else, she seldom saw her parents and spent the majority of her early years doing chores and being scolded. This made Aeri unhappy. Her life was far too average. She wanted to stand out! Yet, no matter how hard she tried, she blended in with the rest of her peers. Even when she misbehaved or acted out for attention, there was always some other kid misbehaving or acting out even worse than her.

The older she grew, the more frustrated she became with this fact. The more frustrated she became, the more she was determined to change her lot in life. Eventually, this determination evolved into her sole hobby and ambition. She is going to be someone important. In the meantime, Aeri has been biding her time, waiting for the day that she might Impress. She knows that until she manages to bond with a dragon, her status in the weyr will not budge. Now that she is old enough to stand as a Candidate, hopefully she will have her chance.

Description:
Aeri, in a word, is non-descript. She is very small and frail for her age. Average straight, long, black hair frames her face and often covers her average, dull grey eyes. Her skin is pale and plain. Maybe she would be something pretty if she cleaned herself up and tamed her wily locks, but that is not likely to happen any time soon. Appearances are very important to Aeri, and right now she wants to appear non-threatening.

Personality:
Negative: Fake. Aeri lives up to the classic stereotype of a petite girl such as herself. She is kind, caring, obedient, and generally all around nice. She wants everyone in the world to be happy and would never hurt a fly. JUST KIDDING. Although Aeri does her best to behave like a sweetheart in public (especially when she’s around someone “important”), most of her “positive qualities” are all part of a carefully cultivated act. In her chest lies the heart of a cold, confident, selfish and calculating b***h. Aeri wants power and status in Trine Weyr, and she will do anything to obtain it.

Negative: Manipulative. For Aeri, life is like a game of chess. Weak individuals are pawns. Their usefulness is limited and they should be the first pieces sacrificed when the need arises. Aeri views almost every individual she meets as a nothing more than a tool she can use to make her life easier. If she’s nice to you, it’s almost definitely because she wants something from you. No matter how friendly she likes to make herself seem, she is in reality somewhat misanthropic. This girl has a hard time caring about anyone save herself.

Negative… possibly Neutral?: Ambitious. Aeri fancies herself similar to a knight – a piece often underestimated but capable of unique plays thanks to its strange movement pattern. However, as awesome and wise as she is right now, she’s still not good enough. She may have friends and many useful allies, but she’s still only a lowly Candidate. Aeri wants to be a queen. She wants to have power and rank, and she is absolutely ruthless in her pursuit of it. As far as she’s concerned, she will become one someday… no matter how many “friends” she has to abuse or backstabbing it will take.

Negative: Judgmental. To Aeri, who you are does not matter. What you are is what she is interested in. The first thing she does when she meets someone new is judge them –how smart are you, how much strength of character do you have, would you be easy to use? Chances are, if you are not a wingleader, a bronze or silver rider, a weyrwoman, or special in some outstanding way, she’s going to look down on you.

Neutral: Tom Boy. Beneath her cute and sweet façade, nothing about Aeri is feminine. She is confident (perhaps overconfident), assertive, independent, and very opinionated. Nothing is too gross or icky for her to handle (spiders and snakes are just animals wtf is wrong with you other girls e__e). If you throw her the ball she’ll catch it. If you challenge her to a race, she can win if she tries. She’s not exactly a sporty tomboy, but she definitely has a lot of traditionally masculine traits. In the modern world, she’d be a cruel prosecutor or a cut-throat CEO instead of a football player.

Positive: Talented. Aeri is damned good at what she does. This is perhaps her only purely positive trait yet it easily balances out all of her negative ones. She is both book smart and cunning. Social tact comes to her naturally. Her “adorable” act is usually spot on (though when people DO catch on to her, the consequences are often disastrous). When it comes to weyr work, she is reliable and efficient. This girl never takes short cuts because she does not have to.

Thoughts

1/2. ^^ That's fine, growing is awesome but complete character flips are not unless there's some discussion of it <3
3. Toning down the quiet is likewise fine over time!
4. Her age is fine too, I believe the youngest we accept it 12, and we have had a 13 year old Impress before.


My notes

I'd like to see another fairly substantial flaw in her before I approve. We generally don't accept too quiet/shy as a flaw and that will be toning down over time in any case. As she's stated to be very reliable and responsible her disorganization while a problem isn't a big one and again we don't accept things such as being scatty/forgetful/disorganized as a solid flaw unless it seriously affects their work and relationships; being a bit late sometimes isn't enough. This leaves judgmental, but if she's so quiet then how will this be expressed and lead to anyone having negative feelings about her?

In order to balance out her Geode trait which is hugely positive she'll need a very solid flaw in there for me to feel comfortable accepting her. So far she's a character who will grow into something really incredible and has very little to count against her.

4. No, her positive trait is fine, but do remember that as a mere candidate if anyone does catch onto her there's pretty much nothing she can do to them unless they're a candidate too or a drudge.
