Chapter one-Down the rabbit hole.

It was a warm and lazy Thursday afternoon with the red-tipped leaves just starting to drop from the branches. A teenage boy, whose name was Karasu Uchiha, had just returned from reporting about a particularly troublesome mission that he just completed. Karasu was exhuased; he didn’t like using his Mangekyo Sharingan but the difficult high ranked mission required it. Feeling sleepy, he decided to rest in the shade of an apple tree to relax for a bit before heading back to his small apartment that he now shared with his partner Shinsetsu.

Just closing his eyes for a quick nap a sudden rustle of dry leaves disrupts him. Looking behind him, he saw an effeminate young boy picking through the dried leaves in a hurry. Apart from the large white rabbit ears and tail and the strangely Victorian outfit it appears to be Shinsetu.

“Hey Shinsetsu, what’s with the get up? Lose a bet again?” Karasu asks, propping himself up on the bed of leaves to get a better look.

The young boy blinked at him in confusion. “I don’t know any Shitsetsu and I always dress like this. I don’t have time for this, I’m going to be late!”
The tail twitches, proving that it is real and not some form of costume.
Now it is Karasu’s turn to be confused.

“What are you talking about? I’ve never seen you wearing that. Are you feeling alright? You are acting rather strange.” Karasu asks back, getting to his feet and brushing dried leaves from his clothes. With a bit of effort he activates his sharingan to check if this is some bizarre enemy genjutsu which does nothing more then make the Shinsetu lookalike twitch one ear and start to hurriedly move away with a bizarre hopping gait.
“I’m not sure what you are talking about, I must go, I’m late!” The boy says, slipping between the tangled roots of the apple tree and disappearing.

“Hey! Where are you going?” Karasu shouts after him. “Late for what? You know that isn’t very safe, who knows what the hell is down there.”

After not getting a reply back and feeling a bit curious as well as frustrated, he follows the rabbit boy into the tangle of roots, muttering under his breath about how he can barely see anything in the dark and the way centipedes keep falling in his hair. Moving at a crawl he doesn’t even notice the edge of the hole until he’s falling.

Immediately on noticing the fall Karasu tucks into a defensive coil, preparing to bounce away from impact and come up with a Kunai drawn. To his surprise he keeps falling as if the air as suddenly turned to soft syrup. Turning slow circles in the air like a falling leaf Karasu experimentally flaps his arms to see if it alters the rate of his fall. It doesn’t. The air feels like thick syrupy honey and even the normal tingly feeling that accompanies falling is no more than a dull flicker. This does not bode well.

Suddenly the earthy stone walls are embedded with red and gold and apparently wallpapered in a series of diamond designs. Karasu feels strange. There’s no way this is real. Did someone drug the apples?

Seemingly falling at an equal rate to him is a round table where fish in akatsuki cloaks are playing cards. A sheep in a rowboat bleats at him before rowing upwards and disappearing.
His father zips past, playing some sort of jazz tune on a grand piano. Karasu opens his mouth to cry out but already he has fallen too far. And then the tunnel is filled with clocks.

Karasu hits the pile of fallen leaves and bounces upright, kunai drawn and sharingan glaring. Just in time to see a fluffy rabbit tail disappear around the corner. He hurries after him. Maybe the white rabbit Shinsetsu can help him get out of this weird fantasy world.
