Eidhneán Castle has been home to the Walsh family for the last 500 years, when it was gifted to them by a mysterious old lady in exchange for a bottle of the family's famous Hazelnut Draught. The castle is located in the wilds of Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland, and is unplottable and invisible to the muggle eye.
The Walshes are pure-blood in the male line. However, Ciarán Walsh, the father of the family, was labelled a 'blood traitor' by the rest of the family when he married Rosa Prince, an English muggle-born witch. He and Rosa were thrown out of the castle and left to fend for themselves, but happily, Ciarán's mother forgave him on her death bed, and the family re-inherited the castle a decade ago.
Every member of the Walsh family has attended Hogwarts. Unusually, many members of the family attend different houses than their siblings. The Walshes all have distinct personalities and beliefs, and this can sometimes cause tension in the family.
Eidhneán Castle is haunted by a poltergeist called Laoise, who the family believe is the spirit of a maid killed by her master. Laoise is harmless, and the Walshes regard her as nothing more than a pest. The poltergeist loves to scare unsuspecting guests to the castle, so always watch your step if you visit!

Family Members Aoife Walsh Aoife is the youngest member of the family, and has just finished her first year in Ravenclaw at Hogwarts.
Aoife is bubbly and adores playing practical jokes. However, she is good-natured and never goes too far with her tricks. She is also very cunning and clever, which led to her being sorted into Ravenclaw. She is extremely chipper and always tries to see the good side of things, much to the annoyance of her pessimistic sister Síle.
Aoife has a companion owl named Harry, named after Harry Potter, the wizard who defeated Voldemort, who is her hero.

He is a big Quidditch fan, and played as Beater on the Hufflepuff team. He works in the Irish Ministry of Magic, in the Department of International Magical Cooperation.
Ciarán is friendly and goofy. He loves Herbology, and has written several books on the subject, none of which have been published.

Rosa Walsh Rosa (née Prince) is the mother of the family. She is 43 years old. Rosa was born in Liverpool to muggle parents. She is the first known witch in her family. She met her husband Ciarán at Hogwarts, where she was in Gryffindor house. She works as a Healer.
Rosa is caring and adores her family, though at times she can be very snippy. She is a neat freak, and is not very fond of animals. Unfortunately for her, Harry is a very messy owl.

Síle Walsh At 18, Síle is the eldest Walsh child. She dreams of becoming an auror, but currently works in a robe shop.
Síle, unlike her sister, is very cynical and stoic. Síle believes in all work and no play, a philosophy Aoife vehemently disagrees with. Síle was in Ravenclaw house. She passed her NEWTs with flying colours and was a Prefect.
Despite what she may say, Síle cares deeply about her family and would do anything for them.

Laoise the Poltergeist Laoise lives in the left turret of the castle. She enjoys making things fall, and her favourite hobby is annoying Síle. For this reason, Aoife loves her.
