A rather empty road that's often missed by people. It also happens to be the road right outside of the Half-Blood Hill, near camp. Most campers arrive in strange ways towards the camp, usually with their mortal parent, but sometimes - the calmer of the latter tends to come through the long and winding road. It's really quite empty, just full of green all around it - perhaps Kermit's camouflaged somewhere.

She dropped to a more reasonable pace as they came upon a rather rough road; down to 80 miles an hour. She let out a howl of glee, again pulling up and allowing the bike to teeter precariously as the rear wheel spun against the dirt, kicking up dust. She had no idea how she had gotten to this place, but she rather liked having a road. Although her bike was modified to a very great extent to be able to handle incredibly trying terrains, she preferred the roads.

There were two reasons for this, well; three. One: Myron didn't cling so tightly that she felt like she was having the Heimlich maneuver done on her. Two: it was easier on the shocks and breaks. Three: She could get a whole lot more speed when she was on a paved straight-way. She stopped the bike; properly this time, allowing it to slow as she pulled over to the side.

"I want to try something." she said, grinning as she reached back, around him, for her helmet. Tying her hair back into a low pony tail she pulled the mainly black protective equipment onto her head. "It's probably dangerous, but it will be a hell of a lot of fun." she stated, pulling up the visor with a confident grin. "See, I told you earlier about the thing in the woods, right? By the creek. And how Apollo changed the liquids in my bike. This stuff, it's got an awesome kick. Like, you wouldn't believe it, but I know it; I wanna see how fast I can get 'er to go." her eyes were alight with a mischievous glow, like those of a girl at a party; one she knew shouldn't be running because her parents would be home in the morning. That girl who grins from across the room and gestures at you to walk towards her. Like a lure, even though it's quite obvious that it is very much the wrong thing to do. You know you shouldn't go, but in the end you can't help yourself.

Ares was just riding through on his bike when he spotted t he demi-god in front of him. Well... that would be the story he told anyone who asked of course. He wasn't about to openly admit that he had been waiting for a good opportunity to approach the reckless girl, especially without her seemingly over-protective brother around. Of course, this meant that the Zeus kid was there, but to be honest, Ares didn't much care what happened to him, and if he got injured, well, he could live with that.

He gripped the clutch to rev the engine a couple of times before pulling up beside the red bike and flashing Althea and her companion a toothy, and slightly arrogant grin. "Nice bike you got there kid. How 'bout we have a race you and I?" he suggested, trying to control his aura so that she wouldn't want to start a fight but would rather become very competitive. Of course, he could easily see that the girl didn't need help being competitive, but whatever.

One might wonder why the god of war didn't want to start a fight, well, there were a couple of reasons. One was that he had already seen her fight, he had gotten that amusement from her, it was the Poseidon kid he was annoyed at for not fighting back. Also, even though Althea didn't seem to be the biggest thinker of the Althea kids, or indeed at all, he didn't want Athena to have another reason to point out that her tactics were better than his savage fury. Because they weren't. Obviously.

Raising an eyebrow from behind his glasses he looked at her. Of course, he wasn't riding with a helmet, but that didn't bother him. He was a god! He wasn't going to wipe-out, and even if he somehow did, he wasn't going to get injured by something as meager as that! "So, you up for it?" he asked once again.

[[ Still no layout; grrr. >.> ]]

Oliver was loving this. He grinned with slight insanity behind the visor, for if his smile weren't covered, many would assume he'd had a little too much alcohol last night, even though he didn't drink. What could he say? The adrenaline rush was making him a little stir-crazy, and the happy potion was pretty powerful. His grip around Althea's waist was loose, preferring to lean with her as previously instructed. He made a mental note to get a bike of his own when he had a little extra cash.

Oliver grinned happily as she asked if he was up for something extremely dangerous. Technically, dangerous was his middle name; hazard and dangerous meant pretty much the same thing. He was about to reply with the cliched, but true line when another guy on a bike rode up next to them, making his smile disappear as if the sun had been covered by the clouds.

All happiness disappeared, quickly replaced by a certain mixture of anger and competitiveness. He felt like picking a fight with the dude on the motorcycle, or more importantly, beating him in a race. The son of Zeus sneered behind his visor, about to open his mouth to respond with a withering retort when something made him stop.

He wasn't competitive; those were the Nike and Athena kids. Not at all. And it made him suspicious that the potion that had kept him high all morning had simply vanished at the sight of the other biker. He could only come up with one conclusion: they were in the presence of a god. Though which god stumped him. In his time, Oliver had seen plenty, but not this one. He pursed his lips, allowing Althea to answer, though he was sure whatever answer it was, nothing good could come out of it.

Althea's eyes shot up, a challenging grin flying to the man who had driven up.
"Your's is pretty nice as well. The model's not familiar to me... Hyundai?" she asked, inspecting it like a boy might inspect a girl with nice legs, "Looks like she rides like a dream." she added with a grin, listening to the soft purr of both engines, being able to hear the difference between the two. She flashed another smile at the man, before turning to face Oliver.

"You up for it?" she asked, knowing that the extra weight wouldn't be the best but not caring. So long as she hit the top speed and survived to flaunt it at Myron... well, she was happy. "I know I am." While she turned back to face the man, she gave him a curious expression. "How about a name to go with that coy attitude?" she asked, almost snidely, kicking the stand to restart her own engine. "And any idea where to? I'm new to the area; I don't know where the heck I'm goin'." she shrugged. She was a rather competitive person, and she wasn't about to enter a race that she couldn't even finish, were she to get lost.

Ares smiled and nodded. "Good. I was wondering for a moment if you and your boyfriend were to chicken to do it." he taunted, looking at Althea. He shook his head slightly at the question about his bike. "Of course not! It's a custom, you won't find anything like it here, in Olympus or in the Underworld!" he said proudly.

At her request for his name, he grinned. "You're a child of Athena miss Althea Asker, I think you can figure it out. But for now, just call me Jedrek." he told her, not about to just tell her who he was, now that wouldn't be fun! "As for the race? Well, this road is nice and long, as well as winding and deserted. Just keep driving until it joins with the main road. Even you can't get lost on that course."

He revved his engine once before turning to Althea. "On the count of three?" he ordered more than asked, although it was still in a questioning tone. "Perhaps your boyfriend would like to do the countdown for us?" he suggested, his tone making it very clear that he was mocking them.

Oliver felt black rage pound in his eardrums. He despised being taunted and truly would never get used to it. The god's aura wasn't helping very much either, seeming to drive away all feelings other than competitiveness and anger. "We are not dating!" he protested loudly, not really caring if he was called a coward. If anyone had been with him his entire life, they would have seen enough to know he was as much a risk taker as anyone could be. His middle name was "hazard" for god's sake!

Oliver tightened his fingers around Althea's waist, briefly wishing he had listened to Thomas and not gotten on the bike. He was smart enough to realize a god only competed to win, and he had a feeling that today would be the day that they would find out exactly would happen if they didn't win. He could just imagine the satyr's smug and worried expression were he there right now. I told you so.

Oliver gritted his teeth at being called Althea's boyfriend again. This god, whoever he was, would definitely pay. "Fine," he spat towards him viciously. "One ... two ... THREE!"

"You're just jealous." Althea taunted back, feeling the need to (despite just getting OUT of one) start a fight with this man, "It can't be helped; not like I'd go for somebody as ugly as you anyways." she knew this man was a god (who wouldn't?), but hell it didn't bother Apollo too much so she doubted it would influence the situation much here; just a personal victory for her. She had insulted two gods in one day and gotten away with it. "And sorry, Oliver, but I doubt I'd go out with you anyways. Not quite my type; you're a sweet guy, though." she flashed him another smile, practically thriving off of the deadly emotions running through the air.

When Oliver began the count down, she waited. She could feel him inhaling for the next number, so the second he began to exhale after two; the second before three fell from his lips she twisted forwards, shoving gas into the engine. Of course, catching the sandy road and sliding a moment, she didn't actually shoot forward until three had hardly fell from his lips. She held nothing back, simply pumping fuel into the engine and sitting forwards, nodding her head harshly to knock the visor down over her face; protecting it from the dust that was kicked up. She watched out of her peripheral vision as the dial slowly climbed, up, up, up past the 160 mark and into the red bar; the one which told her she shouldn't be able to acceleration any more. Still, though, she could feel the bike speeding up. The things around her were a blur, she was going so fast she couldn't even catch the scenery. So comfortable with the high speeds she caught the turns, staying close the the middle and allowing the speed to pull her to the far edge of the road before she turned the other way, sticking with the curves.

She was happy she was wearing her gear, for sure, even through the material she could feel the freezing chill from hitting the wind so quickly. Surprisingly enough, she was ahead. Significantly, too. Not knowing how far the road was she just stayed on it, knowing that little could stray her path. It was more like she was part of the bike, than controlling it, and the fluent movements almost made it seem like she had done racetracks her whole life. Which she more or less had, although with no opponent other than the limit on the dial, using the empty tracks to practice at break-neck speeds.

Ares wasn't even bothered by what Althea said to him. In fact, he snickered when both of them insisted that they weren't dating. "You should be careful what you say, Aphrodite might try to change that." he warned them with a teasing taunt. The comment on his looks didn't bother him either, after all, his consort was Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, if that didn't say something, well, then not much did.

He growled when Althea began revving her engine at the start of three. "So she's going to play it that way is she?" he thought as he too began to rev his engine. At the end of the word three, they both took off, tearing down the road, whipping up dust in their wake. Soon though, somehow, they began to pull ahead. Apollo did something to her fuel, Ares realized, it was the only explanation that she could be winning against him and his war chariot.

And so, he reached out, searching for an animal that was sacred to him, finding a greyhound wandering nearby. Perfect. Calling it, he got it to walk into the road, right in the path of Althea's bike. Even if she hadn't been a child of Athena, it was obvious that she liked her bike, and she would know that hitting the dog, which was the size of a small horse, was a bad idea, she would probably flip. At least, he hoped she knew that, and would be smart enough to avoid it.

Oliver snorted softly behind his visor to cover up the tiny sting Althea's rejection had brought him. Imagine - his first rejection. Ever, even if it was meant to be light-hearted. He was usually the one doing the rejecting, but with much more subtlety and kindness. He had elected to keep the various withering retorts to himself, figuring that he was on the back on of a bike that belonged to a girl who was no doubt going to push the vehicle to its limits.

Oliver was thankful for the visor in front of his eyes that shielded them for the tremendous amount of dust they'd kicked up. He tried to catch the scenery, but it was more or less trying to catch the words of a foreign language: impossible. Althea was a natural on the track of course. She turned every corner with the ease of a professional, all the while their speed shooting towards the red zone on the mph meter on the bike. It should have been impossible that their speed was still increasing significantly, but increase it did.

Amazingly, they were ahead, even though there was extra passenger on the vehicle itself. It was certainly something to wonder about. All seemed well to Oliver, happily so until the god decided he didn't like having a couple of kids beat him in race. His eyes widened in alarm as a greyhound the size of a small horse walked directly in their path, oblivious to the speed of the bike. The half-blood was more concerned with the loss of an innocent life then the wreckage of a bike when he saw the animal. "Dog!" he screamed over the wind, stating what Althea probably already knew.

Althea cussed loudly in French, turning the bike with what would have been a controlled turn, had they been going much slower. She felt the bike go; she knew the moment that they had gone past the moment of no return. It was terrifyingly exhilarating, doing her best to hold the bike up on an almost 45 degree angle with the road she felt the rubber slipping; the bike had slowed significantly, however. For a moment it felt like slow motion, but Althea knew there really wasn't any other way around it. If they had hit it (the thing was the size of a damn horse!) their faces would have met the pavement, and with the extra weight there was no way she could stop the bike in time. If not for the other driver approaching behind her, she could have pulled around, but... that would be even more dangerous.

Not nearly enough, if you didn't know how to fall. She could already feel the boy releasing his grip and she cursed again; his hands were going to the road. Like a kid trying to stop them-self from falling over. The difference here was that they were still going much over 90 miles an hour, and the his glove-less hands would be gone if he tried that. She reached down with one hand, trying to prepare for the pain but finding herself entirily unable to as her hand connected with the ground; even though she pushed up immediately, she could feel her elbow get ripped from it's socket as what was once a glove, and a layer of skin, remained far back on the road. With that little bit of extra time she reached swiftly around, wrapping her arms around Oliver and forcing him over her torso as she pushed off from the bike; sliding on her back over the pavement with as much of the closest thing to a friend she had (aside from Myron, of course) off the road. "Don't you dare move! Not until I stop!" she ordered, entirely serious as the leather of her jacket allowed her to slide for the majority of the propulsion; eventually, though, the material wore through and her back caught the road, sending them both sprawling as there was sudden traction between the human toboggan and the pavement.

Having no idea as to where Oliver went, Althea rolled into a ditch, the incredible speed sending her flying. She laid on her stomach, letting out a low moan of pain; her arm was twisted violently out of shape from her quick fix to the quickly approaching road, and her back was torn and ragged. She knew that both were necessary. Her clothes were made to handle a slide, and they would have both been killed on impact if she didn't give the bike a little propulsion upward to slow further. In fact they still should have died on impact. Oddly, though, the pain was hardly there. She knew exactly what that reaction was: Shock. As nice as it was, it really wasn't good. She could feel the blood dripping down the back of her legs. She stood up, flipping off the dog as it howled and ran off, then struggled over to her bike. She collapsed next to it, trying to inspect the damage through the blur of, well, blood-loss,mainly. There was more than selfishness propelling behind that; if Oliver had to get back to camp then her bike would be the fastest bet. After another slew of curses she sat back. It was bent out of shape and scratched to hell and back. Definitely not drive-able. She fell forward, unable to hold herself as her vision began to cloud. Suddenly she wanted to apologize to Myron. She wanted to really, really badly. That and hug him, and tell him that he was the best thing that ever happened to her (even if he was practically the only thing she could remember happening to her).

Jedrek Daemon {Ares}

Ares turned his bike once he had passed the crash site, skidding to a controlled stop in a large semi-circle which he stopped by simply putting his foot down once the bike had slowed down considerably. A cross between a sneer and a simper graced his face as he watched Althea's reaction to the dog on the road with amusement. To say that she had a good idea of how to not kill her and her passenger pretty much summed it up, and he was surprised that she used herself to cushion the zeus-kid's fall. Not only did she manage to skin her back, as well as her hand, and he could see that her elbow was dislocated, as well as possibly broken, all in all, a pretty good result considering how fast the bike had been going when they . Her bike was pretty torn up too, which was disappointing, it had been a nice bike.

However, that was something Ares could fix. he couldn't really do anything (or care enough to) to fix their injures. He was the god of war after all, not the god medicine. That was Apollo.

Snapping his fingers, he fixed up the bike before turning once again to look at the demi-gods. "Good race kids. Perhaps next time you'll think twice about your words before you speak them." he told them, speaking more or less to Althea than to Oliver before disappearing in a flash of light, bike and all.

Oliver slammed into a bush opposite from the side of the road Althea had gone. He groaned as he felt a migraine coming on, but he only did so to cover up the surprise in his voice. She had saved both their lives, and after a quick examination of himself, left him with only cuts and bruises with that human toboggan trick. She had no doubt suffered worse, much worse. She could possibly suffer from paralysis or something of that nature from the accident. Well, the dog had no doubt been a nasty trick of the god's, but he insisted on calling it that. The noble man he was, whose motto was to never leave someone behind, Oliver stood after a few more moments of groaning, feeling guilt-ridden and respect for the daughter of Athena, glancing around for her.

Oliver spotted Althea collapsed next to her bike, which looked horrible. He walked quickly over to her, still amazed with his own lack of injuries. He examined her for a moment to find a popped elbow, skinned back and hand, and to find that she was going into shock. Oh, this was not good. The son of Zeus gritted his teeth when the god fixed the bike, but not Althea, and threw another little taunt their way before disappearing in a flash of light. He spent a full minute cussing him out Latin.

Oliver sighed, deciding that he had a bigger problem than some stupid god. He picked Althea up gingerly, as easily as if she were a bag of feathers. Before walking off, he said quietly, "Thank you. For saving me. I owe you my life." And with that, he walked towards the camp, taking her to the infirmary where she would be cared for by plenty of Apollo campers who knew what they were doing. Hopefully.
