Welcome to the archery field! It's a rather small field near the arena where you can show off your skills, that is - if you have any. In the open area, there's a bunch of targets all lined up in a row. Most Apollo kids are hanging around here, showing off their talents in this area, but occasionally there's the rare camper who stumbles about the field and has rather exceptional skills. Go on - shoot an arrow or two, it's good for practice... as long as you don't hit any campers.

♦♥♣ Yuu sat behind the archers in the field, his mind on thoughts that were far from the archers - mostly Apollo campers - aiming and releasing the arrows that they must have stocked up on for their practice. Yuu never had a hand for aim, and he was much better at close-range battle. If he had to fight long-distance, he preferred knives. It was easier to use knives and swords. In short, bladed weapons were his favorites. He was looking at a book, and had been reading the same paragraph for the past five minutes, willing his mind to take in the information, but it wouldn't respond to him. He snapped his book shut with frustration, the Apollo camper in front of him jumping and releasing their arrow before aiming, making them hit the tree. Some other campers started to laugh at him, but Yuu sighed inaudibly through his nose as he stood up and quickly walked to the outskirts of the archery fields.

Instead of being able to visualize the scenery in the book, his mind trailed to the back of his mother. He closed his eyes, the image flashing through his mind before he looked at the clear sky, then the edge of camp, where the clouds parted around the camp. They never had bad weather, which could be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Personally, the son of Triton wouldn't mind a bit of rain. Yuu Yukimura let his mind wander, closing his eyes as he hugged his knees to his chest. He almost would have seemed like he was sleeping or crying, but at the moment, he was just so deep in thought. He focused on his breathing, his mind clearing of all stressful, morbid thoughts.

Finally, his eyes found the Apollo campers at the archery field again, and he silently watched. He was only ever silent, and since that morning...he hadn't spoken a word. He had been taken to his uncle, who sent him away to camp. He hadn't even seen his cousin, Aoi Minami, before he had been sent to Camp Half-Blood, where he hadn't spoken. He would sit by the water, but it was always too crowded at the beach, and the nymphs in the water freaked him out at the lake. Therefore, he found himself finding isolated - or crowded, focused to the point where he wouldn't be spoken to - locations around the camp. He was scared to death to leave the camp. Quests would never be a high point of his life, he supposed.

Josh walked to the archery field. He picked up one of the practice bows and some of the arrows and he started to shoot at the targets. He was not as good as the Apollo kids but he could hit the bulls-eye well enough. He liked the feel of the bow it he needed to see if he could get one in the armory just right for him. He kept practicing till he ran out of the arrows and moved to collect them.

Kea aimed at the target. She just barely missed the bulls-eye. Aim higher! Kai signed to her sister. Kea glared at her sister, who was playing her violin. If you think your right, go ahead and show me! Kai smiled, set down her violin, and postioned her sister's hands correctly. There. She signed, and sat back down. She picked up her violin and started a Mozart song.

Kea rolled her eyes and shot her arrow. It hit the bulls-eyes. Thanks Kai. Kai just shrugged. Kea stuck out her tounge at Kai, and kept taking shots at the target. Kai chuckled silently. Kea knew she was right. The two looked at each other again, and nodded. Kai grabbed her violin and Kea grabbed her bow. And with that they left.

So. First day at camp, might as well be wherever she wanted to be. Forget the whole claiming process, or the stupid housing either. It was just proof that her father was really a cheating punk during college. The best place to get rid of her anger was somewhere she could practice shooting. So, obviously the archery range was her first choice.

She carried with her backpack the small folded up compound bow, only opening and extending it after she had pulled on her wristguard. Then she opened the bow, making sure that none of the hinges squeaked when she opened it, and that she had lubricated all the proper hinges. Only then was she ready to shoot.
