Nathaniel led Adele to his cabin, only slightly nervous. He'd never been attacked by hordes of vicious owls or anything of the like when he'd entered her cabin, so why would anything happen if she entered his? Nothing should happen - in theory. But the gods were as unpredictable as possible, so you never knew. He opened the door, entering slowly, greeted by the customary ocean breeze. He walked in a little quicker, more confident that Adele would be fine, immediate calmness taking over his system as soon as his loafered feet stepped into the cabin. The redhead turned to face the daughter of Athena, frowning uncertainly. "Uh, this is where I live, I guess," he mumbled with a wave of his hand, never one for introductions.

Nathaniel chuckled at her joke, not mentioning how very bad it was. "I, ah, would suppose so." The creek at the very back of the room, gurgled happily, which was perfect for sending Iris Messages. There was a rainbow shining at that very moment, in fact. He really did need to contact his mother soon ... He sighed, walking towards it, the breeze ruffling his untidy red hair. "Ready to say hello to my mother?"

Nathaniel let out an angry little huff. "Am not," he said testily before crouching near the rainbow. Taking a drachma from the creek's bottom, he flipped it casually into the rainbow, smiling lightly. "Layla Felsic at the Felsic and Son Bakery, New York City." The misty image shimmered until he was looking at a woman in her thirties, smiling cheerfully as she kneaded some dough. The woman had Nathan's bright red hair, which was much longer and tied into a bun. Freckles dotted her nose and cheeks and she had eyes bluer than any ocean. "Your cake is about to burn," the son of Poseidon mentioned casually, causing the woman's head to jerk upwards quickly. Her expression settled into a lovely smile. "Nathaniel! How are you? Are you having fun at camp?" Nathaniel sighed and gave an apologetic smile Adele's way. "Mother," he greeted with a smile. "I'm surviving, to say the least. How are things in New York?" Layla pursed her lips before replying. "Always so moody. Your father was in a much better mood usually, so I have no idea where you got that from," she murmured with a sigh.

Nathaniel smiled graciously. "I would guess it was hereditary, seeing as I'm on my best behavior in the company of women and such." He had been taught that way, to keep his moody nature and his tongue in check when a female was in the room. His mother chuckled, but frowned slightly when she noticed Adele. "Who is that? And why are you two alone?" Nathaniel laughed heartily, a pleasant sound considering he didn't do it very much. "'That' is my best friend, Adele. We met at camp awhile ago. And don't worry, Mother, you raised a very old-fashioned boy," he replied with a mischievous wink. Layla's face relaxed into a smile. "Of course. Have you met anyone else yet?"

Nathaniel chuckled at Adele's nervous greeting. "Hello dear! Nice to meet you too!" his mother said cheerfully. "I've met a few people," he said, looking behind his mother at the smoking oven. "Uh, Mother ..." Layla looked behind her, her eyes widening in alarm. "Oh dear! Bye Nathaniel! Have fun at camp!" And with that, she waved her hand in the mist, scurrying towards the oven with a fire extinguisher. Nathaniel shook his head as he stood, a happy smile playing on his lips. He glanced up at Adele, still grinning quite stupidly, which was totally out of his character. "Well, what did you think?"

Nathaniel laughed once more, running a hand through his hair. He'd almost forgotten what being in such a good mood was like. Almost. "We're as different as black and white," he said, his face slowly returning to his normal brooding expression. He was the one who took everything seriously, sometimes a little too much so, who on occasion blew his top. His mother on the other hand was sunny, an cheerful, hardly ever in a bad mood. A tad bit eccentric, perhaps, but she could always make someone laugh in those moments. Nathaniel stuck his tongue out at her. "Am not," he argued, crossing his arms over his chest, attempting to look like a stern adult. The happy twinkle in his eyes completely ruined his severe expression.

Nathaniel's smile was slowly melting away, returning to his normal scowl. He loved his mother; she was all he had left these days. Every once in awhile, she would spout some nonsense about him being exactly like Poseidon, exactly like the ocean waves. Humph. "Of course I do," he said briskly, walking over to his nightstand to grab the bottle of green tea. He unscrewed the top, taking a long sip as he thought how to answer that question. The last remaining traces of his lightened mood had now completely vanished at the mention of his father, pursing his lips. "The man abandoned my family. Never a word to me all those times ... I have no desire to meet him." This wasn't strictly true; Nathaniel was desperate to meet his father. But only to unleash his full rage on the god, careless of the repercussions.
