Princess Ai as she is generally called is the heir to her father's throne and fortune.  Because of this she has been forced into the courts of nobility for years in hopes that one of the sons of a noble would catch her eye.  So far none have done so.

Ai wants nothing more than to find someone she loves and who is interested in her and not what she represents.  If she is unable to find a suitable partner she will be forced to marry the man her father picks for her.  Ai has run off because of her arranged engagement and was soon captured and put into the slave trade.
