Alex looked across the room wearilly and gave a sleepy smile to Mrs. Norbud, who raised her eyebrows and responded with a stern:
"Stay awake, please, Miss Motter." Alex stretched, yawned, and obeyed best she could before her head fell onto the desk, creating a rather loud bang.
"Alex Motter!" Mrs. Norbud glared from the blackboard right at Alex, who was completely knocked out on top of her desk. "What could possibly be the meaning of this...?" Mrs. Motter continued, as if Alex were listening. The rest of the class stared, some laughing, at Alex. When a boy dropped a chair on her head, Alex was wide awake.
"Sorry Mrs. Norbud," Alex groaned through gritted teeth, half asleep, half ready to burn the place down. She rolled her eyes as class begun to get back to normal.

Alex looked around the class, her mood getting slowly brighter. She looked around at her classmates and figured class wouldn't be so bad... She got along with almost, if not all of them.

Alex looked at Jake for a while, then returned her gaze to Mrs. Norbud's lesson. She was going on and on about how to correctly throw a spear. She twisted a pencil in between her thumb and index finger. She gritted her teeth and leaned back in her chair.
