Eli walks in and orders a iced vanilla soy latte. He sits down as the poetry slam starts as he waits for his turn. Listening to the people go up and perform.

Siren was sitting crosslegged in one of the poofy chairs so commonly found in such settings with her notebook in her lap. She listened as others went up and poured out their hearts, but didn't focus on anything they said. She was too busy trying to figure out how to word the next line in her song.

Eli decides to go and waits as the current poet finishes his poem. I walk up and perform mine. (Sorry I'm not gonna put it all here because I don't actually know any of you but I'll just tell you its a poem about war and wanting peace). As I finish I sit back down as the crowd in the cafe claps and I order another iced vanilla soy latte.

Siren snapped politely with everyone else; it was a pretty good piece. But she didn't think about it again as another person went up. She didn't even bother listening to this one, going back to her song. "I'm just buying myself time," she sung under her breath, so quietly nobody would hear her. "No, that's not it. Maybe without the 'just'." Her murmerings became so quiet that even she couldn't hear herself.
((At poetry slams, isn't it a sign of disrespect to clap?))

Eli drinks his latte as he notices a girl writing something in one of the big seats. He walks behind her and starts to read it. "Wow that's pretty good." He says as he finishes reading it.

Siren jumped when she heard sombody behind her, nearly dislodging her own coffee from between her hip and the arm rest. She twisted around in her seat until she could fully glare at the boy who had spoke. "You better be talking about the coffee." He couldn't have just read my song, could he? Isn't that rude? I didn't want anybody to hear it! she thought fiercly.

Eli smiles "No I wasn't talking about the coffee but now that you mention it it is pretty good." he says as he finishes his.

Siren closed her notebook with a snap! and moved to a different seat to write. She didn't appreciate strangers reading her personal work over her shoulder, and made it very clear.

"Geese I was just telling her it was good" Eli says as he sits down in the now empty seat in front of him and listens as the poets go up one by one to perform.

Siren tucked her feet into the cushins and took a sip of her coffee, which by now was cold. She pulled a face and set it down on the table in front of her, ordering a warm one from the waiter: black, with almond-flavored cream. Shuddap, it's good! She took a sip again and sighed happily before going back to fuming over her writer's block.

Eli yawns as the poetry slam comes to an end. He pulls an acoustic guitar and starts to strum on it softly. He plays Wish you were here by Pink Floyd singing the lyrics to himself. (I can write the entire song here but for the sake of your boredom I won't)

Siren nodded her head in time with the beat and unconsiously whispered the words to herself. Quickly, she jotted down a few more lines and read through it again, changing a word here or there. And thus, it was done. She had finally finished the song after a week of writer's block. She grinned to herself, biting her lip, and sat back in the chair.
