The Black lake inhabits a Giant Squid that acts as a lifegaurd as well as many other creatures including a clan of merpeople. The lake is huge and there are many trees and places to swim. You can come out here until curfew then you must go inside. During the winter the lake freezes over so you can ice-skate.

After Rowan determined that she had effectively checked out the common room, she decided to take a look around the rest of the school, and tromped down to the Black Lake. Once she saw the glassy surface, she became curious as to what was under there, seeing as how she was new had didn't know anything about the school. She glanced around briefly, then stuck her head into the lake, almost immediantly taking it out again. Through her curtain of sopping hair, she watched as the giant squid broke the surface as it swam about. "Holy carpfish..."

Rowan jumped up at the sound of a voice and twisted around to see a girl walking past. "Why would I want to do that?" she asked. Did she seem depressed or something?

penelope finnally reached the edge of the lake where shed spent most of her time studying by last year and planned to do the same this year, only to find that two students had already taken her spot.
she was disscusted, people teased her all the time behind her back calling her a loner and stuff. but never had someone done it so upfront like this. everyone knew this was penelopes spot, just as she knew where other's spots were. and she, would never think of takeing someone elses spot.
penelope felt her body quickly feel up with anger and she threw her self forward, she hurrled towards them almost running.
about ten yards away, just when she was reaching for her wand, penelope stopped. her body cooled down emedietly when she realized the two students were new. she smiled to herself and walked slowly to the girls.
penelope heard only the last sentence of the girl's conversation. "maybe she was thirsty" , she said smiling.

Rowan frowned slightly in thought. "No, that water wouldn't be good to drink, it's too murky. You should only drink clear water thats running, right?" She shook her head, spraying the area around her with water. "I wanted to see what was under there."

"yeah i no (i was just kidding before).. new students are always curious like that, infact, i almost got myself killed in the forbidden forest"(idk if its forbidden forest or dark forest.. oh well my bad).."my first year here at hogwarts", penelope said giggling to her self alittle..
"so.. how are yu likeing hogwarts so far?" smile

penelope looked to kanna, "yes ive been here since my first year", then turned back to rowan, "oh.. i always love visiting the library. but thats mostly cus im a bit of a nerd"penelope luaghed rolling her eyes.
