I'm thinking of tackling it but it'd be easier with some of you back on my side suffering with me. Any takers?

I don't mean join just for me...but if you planned to or want to anyway...join me, my bretherin.

*made an announcement in case some of you would want to but forgot or didn't know about it. JulNoWriMo, go?

Nope. Though I'm curious what -that- is... do tell?

JulNoWriMo is a less awesome knock off of NaNoWriMo. I'm starting to second guess doing it however, due to having a busy month, towards the back end of the month.

It's like NaNoWriMo for summer~
http://www.campnanowrimo.org/

It's run by the same people who put on NaNoWriMo. They don't have forums up yet so we have to use the official NaNo ones. They have a specific subforum for Camp though 3nodding

Intriguing. I shall look into this.

Found out about JulNoWriMo only today. ;v ; So I shan't be doing it. Plus, I'm on a "vacation" (that I wish I could've excused myself from) right now, so I really don't have the opportunity to write at all. >n <;; I'll check out that Camp site though. :v

I'm going to use the weaksauce excuse of "employment".

Also the fact that I wouldn't know what to write about.

May not do NaNo this year at all. sad

Sad face, my friend. I mean even I kind of dropped July but I do hope most if not all of us can get back together for the NaNoWriMo come November.. Let me give you some inspiration~! *Dances with bloody sword*

Well hey looks like employment is no longer an issue! wahmbulance

Man. Borders was the coolest damn job I've ever had. Giant sadface.

In my spare time I've been desperately trying to learn some way of plotting a whole story before diving into it, since I always fail to finish stuff because it's so difficult for me to write and plot at the same time. If this comes naturally to anyone, I'm extremely jealous, as it's literally the hardest thing I've ever tried to do in terms of creative stuff. I think if I ever wanna publish anything this is something I've got to get past.

I do hope the gang can make it back for this year. A fair amount of us finished, which was cool.

VERY ouch man. Got canned? Very sorry to hear it.

My weakness isn't plotting but my writing in itself. It's very bland and dry. Especially my scenery. I'm horrible with describing settings.

Whoa, whoa. Canned! No, Borders is folding. 11,000 jobs lost!

Description is one of the easier things for me, since I observe stuff a lot already for the purpose of drawing better. I used to practice by looking at objects and trying to come up with a simile to describe it. Not that you should choke your novel with similes (or metaphor), but if you find that this object has similar qualities to that object it's sometimes easier to come up with language to describe one or the other.

Ah that's right. >< Ouch still.

That might work but I think my bigger problem is vocab. While I know plenty of words I feel I suck at expressing and choosing them. Or even remembering them? sweatdrop

Yeah, I think I got lucky there. I find it really fun looking for words that sound musical in tandem with other words, so word choice is only rarely a problem for me.

Have you ever studied any poetry? I think my writing got a hell of a lot better after I did. And I don't usually write flowery purple prose.

You can't beat cummings' succinct and chilling description of death, for instance: "...since doom/with longest white hands neatening each crease/will smooth entirely our minds..."

I'm a pretty crappy teacher, so I'm glad you've got someone helping you if you feel that you need it xD

And I may not actually be doing Camp NaNo but since my BFF has been without internet access for over a week I now have literally nothing to do but squeeze the last few weeks' paychecks from my current job and watch Star Trek s**t with my brother. Result = the game script that I've been working on has doubled in filesize gonk I would do a word count but it's chopped up into 47 different files, plus cell phone logs for each character, plus a slightly intimidating amount of freewriting I've been doing as I go along... It's nice to be writing again, though.

Also, the deadness of this guild makes me sad.
