Okay, as a gamer, I'm hooked on one of the best known franchises in the RPG genre. That's right, Final Fantasy. So what should I do but come up with an idea for a plotline, minus sidequests and sub-events. As I come up with and write the story, I'll post it here. Even if you're not a fan of the franchise, you'll (probably) enjoy the story, so please, read, enjoy, and send me feedback via PM's.

Preface
Year 20XX.
Advances in technology have transformed human interactions with nature.
Research into medicine and bioengineering promised a future free of disease and suffering.
However…where many minds toward this goal made the necessary advances, it took only one to tarnish this progress.
“Doctor, the subject isn’t responding!”
“Damn! Increase the pressure! We need to make absolutely sure that the subject absorbs all of the solution!”
Voices…I could only hear voices. Even when I opened my eyes, I couldn’t see a thing. I felt weightless. Was I dead? Were these angels? Where was I? I didn’t know anything other than the blackness all around me.
“Alright, life signs are green. He’s stabilizing. Heart rate and mental acuity at acceptable levels.
Cold. It was so very cold here.
“We’ve done it, everyone. Well done.”
Footsteps were coming closer. I saw light when I opened my eyes again. I saw a person there. Looking around, I noticed I was in some kind of container. Why was I here? Where was here? The person in front of me wore a white coat. He placed his hand on the container I was in.
“You are the pinnacle. You are the product of so many years of research. You will be the one to save us all.”
Save us all? What did he mean? I wanted to ask him, but I felt tired.
“Sleep, child. You will awaken again soon. I promise, everything will be made clear.”
I couldn’t fight to stay awake. I slipped back into sleep, the man’s final words drifting with me. I wanted to believe them. I wanted…something. I just didn’t know what. Sleep came once more, wrapping me in darkness.
