It seems like they are always delaying stuff. Old World Blues has now been delayed till July, when we were promised June. And don't think I've forgotten about that 5 month wait between Dead Money and Honest Hearts D<

And besides, without alot of the Obsidian team, Fallout wouldn't exist as a francise, so thereeee razz
They helped take Bethesda's tech and actually make New Vegas "FEEL" like a Fallout game, and not just "oblivion w/ guns"... Plus, They don't have a huge staff and with all the bad press concerning bugs, they really have their work cut out for them, so give em a break, huh??

I don't like'em either. Their games are god-tier in terms of story and writing...but are broken at launch. They are the only developers that can make Bethesda games look playable.

Can I just point out that this whole "Oblivion with guns" argument about Fallout 3 is far from the truth. I played Oblivion before I heard of Fallout and the only thing that is remotely similar between Fallout 3 and Oblivion is the fact that there is an annoying person you have to escort at some point in the story.

As for Obsidian I think they did a great job it isn't their fault that they had only a two year dead line to create publish beta test and finish a game of this size. Of course there are going to be bugs at the start. Want to talk about a game that had plenty of time to work out the bugs then let's discuss Oblivion. Or for that matter lets discuss any Call of Duty game after the first one. Or if we want to stay Fallout related lets talk about that steaming turd Fallout Brotherhood of Steel for xbox...That game was a buldersgate rip off with out the fun...*shivers*

As for Obsidian delaying Old World Blues...it was worth it right? biggrin

As an original, old-school Fallout player from day 1, Fallout 3 has FAR more in common w/ Oblivion than it did with the original RPG game it was created to be, THAT is why people make the argument. Fallout was intentionally created to NOT be a first person game but an old school, turn-based, dungeons and dragons type of game for the uber-nerds. A game where you HAVE to read the manual and not just pop it in and start playing. Bethesda took it and turned it mainstream. I'M NOT SAYING FO3 OR NEW VEGAS ARE BAD GAMES, but only that they are a HUGE deviation of what Brian Fargo meant for Fallout to be and of what the whole creation of the Fallout franchise was intended for... Essentially, the uber-nerds have one less of our already few RPG franchises and that hurts sad At the very least, Obsidian was able to inject FAR more of the old school elements into this new Fallout style and it felt much more Fallout-ish to me than Bethesda's game. This fact alone should be commended considering just HOW MUCH they did in such little time. Its very sad that people really don't understand their accomplishment and gripe about the bugs instead..

this is b/c they have SUPER AMAZING writers (which Bethesda DeFINATELY lacks big time) but don't really have a lot of great coders.. Not to say they don't have ANY talented coders, just that they don't have many and so you compile the not-so-great code in with the really well done code and... welll... problems ensue... If anything, Obsidian either needs to absorb a studio of VERY talented coders, or needs to merge with a studio of great coders that lacks any writers...

I miss Black Isle... Tho I am glad that Black Isle's spirit is still kept alive in Obsidian.. Black Isle is still in my opinion one of the best groups of video game designers of all time despite FO2 bein buggy as all hell, it was a TRIUMPH for what Black Isle accomplished in less than 2 years. Ironic how FO:NV was kinda the same way and its nice to see alot of them still haven't lost their touch as far as writing a great story..

If anything, I truly believe that it would be in Bethesda's best interest to hire Obsidian to do Fallout 4 WITH the Bethesda team. That way it will actually have decent writing and the army of Bethesda people can then focus on everything else... I think that compromise would be a way to keep the old-schooler's happy and keep Bethesda happy in that it will be "their" game and they would still feel "in control"...

I would just like to note that I didn't need the manual to play Fallout 1/2/tactics.

Black Isle was pretty good too, and their games were still broken. Fallout 2 was horribly broken at launch. So many bugs. Car vanishing, GECKO ghouls going hostile randomly.
