That is the question. I can't decide weather to tell my friends I am Bipolar, or not. I know that quite a few of my friends, my closest friends, would take it pretty well, but I also know that a few of my other good friends would totally freak out. They are really good friends and all, they just aren't used to that kind of thing.
Also, it doesn't feel right to tell some, and keep others in the dark about it.
So, my questions to you are:
Are you open about being Bipolar with all of your friends?
When you told them, did they freak out?
If you are a friend of:
How did you take it?

I have the same problem. I want to tell my friends, but I dont want them to worry about me.
They do know that I have some problems but I only want their help when I`m really desperate, so for now, my illness is my secret and my secret alone.

I don't know what to tell you. If i were in your position I would just tell my VERY close friends, the others don't need to know. It's your own personal business that no one NEEDS to know. It really depends on how much you trust your friends and how much you are prepared to share of yourself with them. It might help to tell them but, on the other hand they could not hold you in as much esteem as you hold them, and they might make trouble for you. use your own good judgement, you should know who can take the news and who can't. I wouldn't tell EVERYONE if I were you. But, I don't know your situation.

h3rsh3y All my friends know. Nobody's spazzed yet. biggrin Being that I'm one of the non-spazzed. Maybe it depends on the friend. Whether you trust your friend in other ways beyond this and (s)he has been there for you in difficult situations before. And you feel that it's important to tell him/her about this part of you. Since you have friends you really trust and friends you're not as close to. I don't see any reason that you should feel bad if you choose not to tell everyone at once. It's your decision. With something this personal I think a real friend would understand if you wanted to keep this private. But I understand if you feel you want this all out in the open. That it'll be making a statement that you're comfortable with who you are and this part of you is no exception. Me. I saw h3rsh3y's banner for this guild before she asked me if I'd like to join. I didn't think anything about it. Didn't know next to anything about bi-polar disorder before I joined the guild.

Well I didn't tell some of my friends becase they like to accuse of me of being a liar with no real reason. They just find some of the things about me unbelieveable, but I've never been close to them.
I hang around with a group of guys, one being my boyfriend (eddy), they all have no problems about me being bipolar none of them freaked. One of them (Grosz) finds it hilarious when I'm manic and gets hyper with me.
