Cory Arcangel. A lot of his stuff is weird and cerebral like this.
I agree, definitely not for everyone... but it's the kinda weird I really like.
Sort of a commentary on throw-away consumerist attitudes. (at least, that's what I get from it) It's the artist's take on what the game character goes through when left alone unplayed for years. Like... trapped alone on an island syndrome. If that's even a syndrome.
