I tried to diet for a while, but it just keeps me going back to eating unhealthy foods. I once used Weight Watchers in High School, and it worked wonderfully. Each food has some amount of points, and you have a limit of points each day. I am going to use Weight Watchers again by July, since having a point system really helps me eat healthier. Also the word, 'points' makes me think of dieting as a game. Plus, fruit is 0 points now, so I'm eating all the oranges I want!
Yet there are other diet programs in the world. Like Calorie Count, which is a book that tells you how much calories are in each food, and you eat 1500 calories each day.
There is also Nurtasystem and Jenny Craig, which is eating microwave meals all of the time, and not deviating from it.
I don't know any other diet plans, but if you know any, please name and describe them.
Does anyone else use any diet plans? What are your opinions on certain diet plans or diet plans in general?

Diet is a dirty word, most often it's associated with starvation diets. Cutting too much out in an attempt to starve weight off. It actually causes more gain, since the body feels deprived and starts storing extra fat.
I have a topic for MyFitnessPal, which is what I use to keep track of what I've eaten that day. It tracks sodium, protein, and other elements as well as calories, so I recommend it.
We also have a topic for healthy recipes where you can get ideas or share your own.
I've had a friend do well on those meal systems, but I really don't think I could survive such a rigid meal schedule myself. I find that as long as I stay within around 1300 calories and exercise regularly, it works for me. But we're all different, so what works for me might not work for you.
Hopefully looking through the guild forum will help you decide what routine will suit you best. smile

The closest thing I have to a diet: avoid processed foods like the plague.
Basically, don't buy anything that isn't fresh produce. There are some things for which I can't do this (I don't know how to make my own pasta, for one; oatmeal is in the dried goods section, as is cereal), but those are things you don't necessarily need, either.
Prepare smaller meals, because you stop needing food way before your brain realizes you're full. This is not a starvation technique; if you eat something and you're still hungry after twenty minutes, go eat something else.
Calorie counting is a fallacy, and I need to find the info I've been reading about this so I can explain it better; basically, calories don't actually have much to do with nutrition. What matters is your intake of nutrients: protein, carbohydrates, sugars, vitamins, minerals, fats... a calorie is a unit of heat, and measures how much heat it takes to burn (in the "fire" sense) a particular food item.

(we may need to take this to the general chatter section, but it's a good subject to address)
What Flonne said about processed foods = Very Yes! If it has hydrogenated anything, trans fats, or high fructose corn syrup, then it is bad for your body and should be avoided like the plague.
I've heard that 100 calories in candybar is far different from 100 calories in apple slices, so it'd best to stick to nature whenever possible. When I can provide a clear statement, I'll share it in the "Do You Eat Healthy" topic. Or anyone else who's more knowledgeable is free to do so. smile

I have a pretty regulated diet. I'll post it later but it's mainly for my fighting. Certain meats and superfoods help you build a better metabolic rate that can make you lose weight fast and get extremely healthy. The best foods to eat to build up your metabolism better are... Beans Blueberries Broccoli Oats Oranges Pumpkin Salmon Soy Spinach Tea (green or black) Tomatoes Turkey Walnuts Yogurt
I hope this helps others looking to speed up there metabolism rate and lose weight.

I may say, I do have negative opinions on the diet programs that I posted when I made this subject.
Counting calories just seems plain stressful. Also, I've seen people bring their calorie scales around, which just seems silly to me.
Jenny Craig and Nutrasystem makes me feel like that people are losing weight without learning a thing about health.
I may say that I actually do like Weight Watchers, especially their new system in which one of the changed they made is having fruit zero points. I called that years ago when I didn't see the logic of sacrificing two points for an orange, even if it's chalk-full of vitamins. Also, I like to have a system to make the entire health thing a game in a sort of way. Also, I feel like I do learn something through Weight Watchers.
That's my two cents.
